Lost count of the amount of times s**t like this goes against us that then has huge impacts on the course of a game.

F***ing A Geordie.

Momentum is a HUGE factor in footy.

Dangerfield said as much this morning. He said the fact we missed a few shots while they scored goals towards the end of the second quarter was a big factor in them winning. By the last quarter it was done and dusted but that little momentum turning period prior to halftime set up their dominant 3rd quarter.

Just to confirm he let his ego enter proceedings he also added "I was probably being belligerent". For seriouslyness Ray you bloody twat!
It’s very hard to believe an umpire is impartial when even the umpire himself recognizes he’s impacting the game.
Particularly when it’s a sport with rules based on an interpretation of a law.
This is a major concern and the AFL needs to stop this.

No nicknames, no microphones and no numbers. Just do your boody job.

Since they've been given a voice and an identifying number, s**t has gone downhill faster than the wheel of cheese at the Coopers Hill Cheese Race.

If only there was a lower level of competition where an umpires performance can be reprimanded by demotion?!
If only 🙄

Embarrassing.

Hes admitted he didn't pay a free kick due to him being too stubborn.

GTFO.

That should be automatic grounds for being ruled unfit for the task.

FFS, clubs invest hundred of millions and players invest their youth in this sport, and then this certified f@ckwit wipes it all away like he's ordered a f@cking latte, instead of a short black!

These people DO NOT understand the significance of the task!

..........the greater monstrosity is that the AFL ACCEPT'S IT ON A WEEKLY BASIS!

FFS it's either a breach of the rules or it isn't. How much mayo is or isn't on is irrelevant.

And the 2019 Grand Final could be decided by how much mayo is put on it.

Or alternatively, a strong player like Drew who put no mayo on it, doesn't get a free with 3 blokes hanging off him.

As opposed to friggin' Dangerfield or bloody Selwood and half the other hanbagging Geelong suckholes who apply Garlic Aoli next level ducking and faking, that smug little campaigner calls out Ziebel for applying mayo. Chamberlain, you are a disgrace to the role of umpiring anywhere in any form or level of sports.

AFL must change the way the engage umpires, and true arms length independence backed by monitoring for patterns in decision making over short and long-term must be implemented.

But he's the "best in the business"

Not seeing the Ziebell front on should really have him excluded from umpiring any finals. Instead it will probably get him the GF.
Au contraire TD. There is a very good reason ol' Razor has only ever made one GF in his 300 games.... he's far from the best, as annually adjudged by his own superiors.

If i kept missing the final team year after year after year, the last thing I'd be doing is turning up the wannabe schtick, quite the opposite actually.

Whilst I've listened to him on SEN and hes very articulate, on field I find him utterly cringeworthy.

Whats Mason doing in that clip? Looks like running under the ball to avoid body contact then ducking his head. That pissed me off at the time and still does.

In my opinion, if the AFL was fair dinkum (hahahahahahahahahahhahaha what?), given what he said today, he should be dropped and also fined.

Dropped for making such a blatant error and fined for saying he believed that Jack was "putting mayo on it", hence no free.

Ray and his cohorts should remember the game only exists because we go to watch the players and never the umpires. They the umpires are not the show, never have been the show, never will be the show and should only participate to the extent of trying to adjudicate the game to the best of their ability.

Ray rarely meets that standard.

Ironically, the mayo that Dangerfield slapped on the so-called dangerous tackle involved him throwing his arm around wildly - an action that should have been the clear sign that it was NOT a dangerous tackle as his arms were not both pinned. He had a free arm to brace his fall, yet he CHOSE to throw it about claiming a free kick.

That was dangerous - but to himself. He literally threw himself to the ground, and as you said, his arms were flailing about like crazy.

Thompson was slung, probably accidentally, but the action that threw him into the ground was a catapult drag-down. It left him convulsing and taken from the field for a concussion test. NOT EVEN DISCUSSED by the AFL despite some commentary noting his probably temporary loss of consciousness. Yet the AFL claimed

Durdin was suspended by the mandate that his act of legitimately applying a bump earlier in the season which had an unintended consequence by causing a concussion. That mandate seems to no longer exist. What are the real rules, and who do they apply to - that is what I want to know?

In AFL almost every decision an umpire makes could go either way, and the frigging league would ratify it as correct.
