Haha eep, there you go. It's so damn hard.

Let's just say they both get traded. ;)

[New Trade-in player]

I know that was probably tongue in cheek. ;)

But as we can't fit everyone into our starting 22 doesn't mean we need to trade them. If you look at the quality players who can't get a game in the seniors at Geelong, thats what gives them their depth (I know that's stating the bleeding obvious). Some players will get injured during the off season, pre season and others will be still recovering from off season op's.

I hope we have many very good players in the reserves putting pressure on the other very good players playing in the seniors. :thumbsu:

With Seaby in the team i would go with something like:

F: Veszpremi White Johnston
HF: Hannebery Goodes Jack
C: Bird McVeigh ROK
HB: Smith LRT Mattner
B: Shaw C.Bolton Grundy
R: Jolly J.Bolton Kirk

I/C from: Seaby, Moore, Malceski, Meredith, Richards, Bevan, MOD

Im really hoping we see the '07 form of Mal this year, it would add so much to our team if he can bring it back.

Bunch of guys capable of playing seniors in the 2's based on this:
Currie, Pyke, Ablett, Barlow, Thornton plus Buchanan, Schmidt, Laidlaw, Playfair if they are still on the list at the start of 2010. Pretty deep list. Plus Heath and the new draftees starting at the club.

Yeh was doin my list in history the other day and I found many youngsters who are competenttt to play snrs not on my list.

(like thornton, barlow etc)

I think we r playin bombers?

I think we r playin bombers?

For some reason Essendon want to play us come round 1 at ANZ Stadium. I have no idea why they want this but i would much prefer to play Essendon come round 1 (at home) than play St Kilda (away).

Though in saying that if St Kilda make the Grand Final we won't be playing them in Round 1 anyway.

Ablett and Malceski and Bevan need to be traded or delisted. So our draft picks can start from Rd 1

No harm in keeping them though. Ablett proved he will be useful based on his last few weeks. Bevan is a hard bodies lunatic and is an asset. I don't mind what happens with Mal but I'd be happy to keep him for one more year in the hope he finds his 2007 form.

Those guys can easily be replaced with kids potentially better than them. Nick smith replace Nick Malceski
Dan Hanebery replace Luke Ablett
Ed Barlow replace Paul Bevan

It's getting to that time of the season again. What do we all think the team will look like come Rd 1 next year?

And I tried to fit Hannebery in, but I wasn't sure where to fit him. Pyke is in in front of Currie because Currie will need to prove himself again IMO before winning a spot. Slightly hypocritical given I've got Johston in there, but Johnston is essentially a direct replacement for Micky O, while Currie has a direct competitor in Pyke who he will have to actively dislodge from the side.

Hannebery must make the starting lineup round 1 in my opinon, he has been great in his short stint this year, (regarding still going to shcool in Melbourne) and if Currie is fit and healthy, he must be infornt of Pyke, i feel Pyke is the one who needs to prove himself if he wants to stay in the team.

All very well to say Hannebery must start, but who do you leave out? I'm not saying you're wrong, he may well start, but you've got to drop somebody to include somebody else.

And regarding Currie, Pyke has played senior football. Currie is coming off fairly significant injury troubles. Pyke definitely starts ahead of Currie. If Currie has one or two great ressies games straight off the bat, coupled with good performances in the preseason, then he should come in, but in the mean time, Pyke is ahead. For the record, I very much hope Currie forces his way in, and sooner rather than later.

I don't know how anyone could say that (or agree with it). Ablett was in good form in the latter part of the season, Malceski is out of form but we all know that he is a quality player and Bevan is a hard nut small defender (and we don't have many small defenders) who does his job well nearly every single week (and generally gets unnoticed).

Too suggest that any of those 3 players should be delisted is absurd.

Agreed.

Neither of them are going anywhere. All are very useful when playing well and play their roles when going well. We are going to have some great depth next year.

No one me included will agree with that.

The youth obsession is going way to far.

When fit and in form all three are useful.

Before the knee Malceski looked a promising player. If he gets a full pre-season into him (after surgery and recovery), and comes back a better player next season.

Ablett is an experience senior player. He is required.
Bevan similar, although I don't believe he is not totally expendible. Although, he possibly needs a different role within the team.

^^ Me too.

Bevo has been getting cut up by the small really quick forwards the last year or so.

I think he can do what NOG was doing at the end of this year better than Ablett. He's faster, more skillful, tackles harder and a better mark IMO. Wont stop Roosy from keeping NOG in the side but if i were to choose between the 2 (and i think at least one of them should be in the side) i would pick Bevo.

OK, I was going to do this after the list for 2010 has been finalised.

So I'll be editing this than, after the pre season resumes and we know who's still injured and not doing a proper pre season and after the pre season comp but hear goes Mark I

Grundy C.Bolton N.Smith
R.Shaw LRT M.Mattner
J.Bolton B.Kirk N.Malceski
J.Moore A.Goodes L.Ablett
L.Johnston J.White C.Bird
D.Jolly R'O'Keefe J.McVeigh
M.Pyke D.Hannerbury K.Jack T.Richards

Emerg: M.O'Dwyer, E.Barlow, P.Bevan

I surprised myself that I have Meredith and Buchanan missing at this point from the equation. Malceski is a must first up if he can find his way through the pre season and regain confidence he is an a grade player playing like a nobody but he can play to hurt the opposition.

Surely u rate bmer over barlow?

This time I'm not bein biased

and why is bird in the forward line.

Birds in the forward line as rotating rover. This old school but he is more damaging on the ground and his game against the Roos shows he can play the small forward role. When McVeigh needs a break hew rotates into the pocket where he is very dangerous. Our forward line needs a small forward crumbing.

BMER has suffered from his injury, I rate him and his kick, I think he might need some game time before being ready.
