Grumpy Olds will remember begging our Baby Boomer Parents to stay up and let us watch the Roos play mid week out at Waverley for the Escort Cup on a school night..and who can ever forget the joy of mentioning Kerry Good the next morning to Pies fans, and some may need to squint their mind’s eye back to the Lakeside Oval for some midweek night games back in the day. I am tipping a few even attended above?

Yes it’s Game Day

Mid week and welcome debutant Hosie (46) and the return of (W)Walker

I'm hoping Shaw will try Zurhaar on the ball.

Majak, Jed, Bonar and Zurhaar in the middle a few times to smash Dangerfield and Selwood when they're in there.

How good was Blight in that last passage of play?

Typical feral, cheating Collingwood fans at the end too.

Since when have teams lined up as announced?

Don't we just give a list of players and AFL Media decided where to place them?

They don't often start in same position but will be interesting if at first bounce jmac is preferred to Dumont on the wing.... assuming Polec resumes the other which jmac held last week

So pumped to see Will Walker back in the team. Need to have tempered expectations of him, but I'm hopeful it won't take him long to get back up to speed. With his skillset I think that if he's fit and healthy he's a lock for 200+ good (not just solid, but genuinely good games).

Best of luck to Hosie too! First game, after a questionably long period of not being played even though he was healthy, so make it count! Real opportunity to shove it up the clacker of your doubters!

No surprises Brown and Polec are back. Hopefully the penny has dropped for Polec on the defensive/structural things that are required, and that a rested Brown is able to grab the ball with both hands and start kicking truly.

As to the game in general... I don't rate us a snowball's chance in hell of winning but never say never. Seeing improvement from individuals and the team at large is still possible even without a win, and that's what I'm excited to see. Brown competing on the lead with both hands, Maj gliding across packs, Silver continuing to slice some beautiful kicks across the arcs, Pittard to blunt another playmaker, Mahoney to continue his competitiveness, and plenty more.

I expect all of Higgo, Bonar and Zurhaar to spend time in there. And of course Polec will be there tagging Danger.
