Could prove interesting discussion for the bye week.

1. Guthrie
2. Hawkins
3. Stewart
4. Selwood
5. Henderson

Duncan stiff. Smith around the mark too.

Some talk of our power game being moved to Sydney. That would be a couple of goal advantage to us and we’d start firm favourites I’d say. Fingers crossed. We have by far the toughest run home of the current top 5 teams battling for the crucial second chance

And if this new variant expands, our wbd home game will be under threat ya would think so. Does the fixture boss, A Dillon work closely with the home side effectively losing their home game...would Port choose a favourable venue either in Sydney or Brisbane/GC and would Geelong get a choice of which venue they would suit to play the dogs if our home game was shifted.

It'd be interesting to see a breakdown of who. I think we've had at least 4 ruckmen go down with injury against us

McInerney, Marshall & Grundy - who's the 4th that I've forgotten?

I know it's a crude way of comparing, but on the whole, it's not stupid to say he's near the top of the tree for well rounded-ness. Others clearly have better individual areas, but he holds up well and if you include things like "club culture" I wouldn't trade him for anyone else still playing on the list and probably wouldn't, in hindsight, have traded him for N Riewoldt. Pavlich a different story.

Kennedy's a bearded Ben Brown with a shorter run up and better accuracy.

Hawkins - 16
Pavlich - 17
N Riewoldt - 11
Franklin - 19
J Riewoldt - 20
Kennedy - 6

Dammit, at this rate Essendon will avoid playing GMHBA again!

Last year was probably the biggest example of a snub of a genuine winger - it was good to see Guthrie's season acknowledged, but it shouldn't have had to be in place of acknowledging Sam's season

1. Sam Menegola (Geelong)

He’s certainly not the biggest name to miss out, but the emerging Cats star’s absence from the 22-man squad typifies the continued mistake made by the All-Australian selectors. Menegola, whose growth this season has been crucial to Geelong’s success, was statistically the best wingman in the AFL this season. Yet he didn’t earn either of the wing spots, instead watching them go to teammate Cam Guthrie and Jack Macrae. Guthrie spent less than a fifth of his time during games on the wing, while Macrae was there just four per cent of the time. For too long the wing has been thought of as a place to squeeze in extra midfielders, not the incredibly difficult and crucial separate position that it is. Do we need to introduce specific position quotas to fix this?

There should be "minimum games in position" or "minimum minutes" requirements to get a position in the AA. It's infuriating

This seems like a bit of overkill

I'm assuming it would be similar to what Collingwood did this past week - they spent a couple of nights in a hotel to ensure it was a bubble environment, and then it was fly in & fly out on match day

A current issue is that we wouldn't be able to fly out after the match because Adelaide airport has an 11pm curfew - so it would require the SA government to permit Geelong players & staff to stay the night in SA, or if that's not agreed to then the match would likely be moved to Saturday afternoon to allow for the fly-in & fly-out on match day

Is Holmes likely to be dropped with all your mids coming back?

Given the game is 4 days away, can we please have a preview thread 😇

I'd make it myself, but I know that's not how things are done.

Here's a Preview:

In a battle between 3rd & 5th, Geelong and Port Adelaide come together to answer the age old question:

Stevie Motlop - help, or hindrance?

I would say odds on this game is moved to Saturday
