I would take 85 points against Hawthorn most times.

Too many soft goals. Forward pressure non existent.

25 scoring shots against the Hawks isn't a terrible result, but yeah, we are a long, long way off them. Obviously.

That gap can close very quickly in 2 years when our youngsters have 2 more seasons and 2 more pre seasons under their belt and the Hawks stars are retiring.

We stayed in touch for two and a half quarters despite the umpires best interests so there's definitely a lot to take out of this game.

If we'd kicked a bit straighter at times and got over 100 points I'd be a lot happier. It went into shoot-out mode in the second half and we obviously got smashed, and I'm still not convinced of our ability to put big scores on the board. We've only gone over 100 twice this season and our defensive play isn't good enough to make up for that.

But yeah, the Hawks average winning margin is about 40 points this year. We lost by about as much as Collingwood and West Coast did and we did it in Tassie. I can't be too angry at that.

We need to get Rocky back in the midfield. It just has to happen. He makes things happen.

Bewick can play forward in that role and we lose very little up forward but gain a class midfielder.

What I really like is that Buddy didn't get right off the chain today. Goose kept him relatively honest with 4 goals, which is alright considering the final score. Clarke got toweled up by Rough, but never dropped his head.

Couldn't agree more. Seems simple on paper. Drop Polkinghorne (for now), Rockliff in the guts, Bewick to play that flanker role.

I reckon Clarke would have learned a lot today. He has a heap of spirit that kid and he'll learn from it.

4 of Green, Karnezis, Mayes, Polec and Merrett have to come in, they are our most elite talented footballers outside of the team barring Longer, but we have to work out if Lisle is a better forward than him. So for me

Pretty ordinary today by foot. The mechanics seem ok. If anything he doesn't kick through it and obviously doesn't have great awareness.

Each unto their own, but I thought McGrath was ok. Had terrible delivery when in the forward line and was probably our best small defender when he want back, particularly in the last quarter.
