I disagree. Just because they were best on ground for us doesn't mean they were standouts.
Fair enough. Personally, I think they stood out from the rest of the players on the ground.

Not a very entertaining game but it is great to get the 4 points and wrap up the 3 wins in a row plus 4 out of the last 5:thumbsu: Hopefully Brown, Black, Moloney, and Golby can return next week to freshen up the side after this tough win in Darwin.

What an awful game. At least we won but it made for terrible watching.

Not a win I'll be watching again unfortunately. Happy to get the 4 points, move on and prepare for Port next week. Having Brown, Black, Moloney and Golby back should help immensely. Really impressed by Rockliff and Hanley tonight, with Leuenberger's tapwork exemplary. Maguire was rock solid in defence too. Green up forward proved a treat too!

Gee that was downright torture.

Overall I thought our effort was arrogant.

We expected to play a team of easy-beats. Credit to Melbourne - they put in a very good fighting effort all night. We didn't respect the opposition, we didn't respect the conditions - I bet we did not train at night.

Yeah the umpires were crap and we had a lot more scoring shots - but that is no excuse.

At least Rocky and Leuy put in all night.

Bewick has had a couple of quiet weeks. Might lose his spot.

Well I am happy.
Good team effort.
Hard work though.

For the first time in quite some time, I found our effort lacking for significant portions of the game.

Hope we got a hell of a scare and find the required level next week,

Sorry I have to disagree with you on that one.
Melbourne have been improving and were quite good tonight.
Saw no signs of arrogance at all ,just a hard slog by a young side, in tough conditions.

To be honest I thought we expected Melbourne to come out and play, which they did,I think we got sucked into their sloppy playstyle and didn't compose ourselves better.

Lol at the icy poles in the change room.

look like "hydrolytes" to me - electrolyte rehydration fluid sticks - preparation need to start immediately post game when AFL gives Lions game in Darwin one week followed by Adelaide the next. Somehow don't think Collingwood would get that combination of games...

In fact don't think any of the major Melbourne clubs would be sent to Darwin at all - conditions at night don't really allow great footy - much worse than a dewy night at the Gabba

Not an easy game to watch but give Melbourne their dues they cracked in hard and gave 100%. A bloody tough game for the players who will really struggle to recover from the heat and humidity. Under the conditions we did well to work our way into a winning position given some big outs. Big issue now will be recovery...we definitely need some fresh ins for next week, especially given that we will travel again.
