Does anyone have a view on how Raines went tonight? I'm not really a great interpreter of the taggers. I didn't think he was great tonight.

You can count on Hanley to never s*** himself in front of goal like some of our guys do, he's a star.

Rocky continues to improve each and every season.

Rich is a star. Reddo is a star. Patfull is a star.

Yeo was killing it.

I loved Goose's face when he kicked the fluke :)p) goal!

Agree with everything so far regarding Rockliff, Redden, Patfull and Yeo.

I'd also like to tip my hat to Harwood and Docherty. The toughness they showed at the footy when it was up for grabs, and their willingness to lay their body on the line for the team was outstanding to watch, even from the crowd.

Also, Brown going down sucks. Hope he's okay and does a Hanley recovery.

I would suggest that it is the Lions who need to address this, and it is not simply a vendetta (those numbers signify an sizable, ongoing variation). It is a normal situation for the Lions to be in, so it would seem that our technique needs work, or we are just dirty... as long as we're winning, I don't care.

I don't think its as simple as that. The last two weeks and in particular the game against Hawthorn, there were clear inconsistencies between frees that our opposition were rewarded for compared to decisions that we weren't rewarded for, especially concerning HTB decisions and 'soft' frees awarded to our opposition's key forwards compared to Brown continually being mauled week after week, year after year and even Staker tonight in the last quarter.

None of the above has anything to do with the Lions needing to address anything, I mean how could we? Our key forwards constantly being mauled and the inconsistency b/w what an umpire will or will not pay HTB for, which generally lends to them clearly favouring the opposition and decisions such as Moloney's deliberate last week are all areas outside of our control, so I respectfully disagree with POBT and Betty Noir in this regard.

New report says it's suspected to be serious (end of his 2013 campaign). I'm sure he'll go around again! Well I hope so!

Hopefully the story is wrong.

No that's fair enough. It would be interesting to see a break down of the frees. What sort of frees do we mostly give away? By "technique", I guess I'm thinking of ways to milk a free, as alluded to by Rocky this week. Drop the knees, lift the elbows, duck the head, throw the arms back... what ever it is that sucks frees, we don't do it as well as other teams. I'd hate to see the Lions play for frees, but if people are aggrieved by the disparity, then playing harder for frees may be the only way to even the ledger.

Yeoey was brilliant tonight. Very quick, very strong overhead, and good reader of the game. Wore Saad like a glove.

and out paced him.. I noticed something very interesting about Yeo's running compared to Saad.

As Saad led he was taking short sprinting steps; but Yeo was keeping pace with longer middle distance strides. When the ball was actually kicked - then Yeo accelerated into a sprint and took front position a couple of times or otherwise spoiled Saad very effectively. It was pretty impressive understanding of his pace and capacity for a young player.
