MVP Rd 21: Votes vs. Fremantle

Another way to look at it, the fact that Robbo's game was considered a 'shocker' is a testament to how much his skills have developed over the year.

I think this is largely it. With Robbo, I've never had any concerns about whether he'll put his head over the ball or whether he'll go into a contest hard enough, it's his decision making and execution which was in question. He's improved in that area in leaps and bounds but some parts of the game yesterday felt like 'old Robbo'

Still he wasn't Worst on Ground but he also doesn't deserve votes (IMO of course)

I saw Robbo doing so much work away from the ball he really helped smash the Dockers early-hence why I gave him votes. He busted his gut

Re: Robbo, it wasn't just the clangers. He consistently tried to do to much and failed to make the right decisions. In the first half he very much played like he used to before this year.
He was much better in the second half, but a long way off the votes.
About right, 2nd half he played better still made errors but did play within his capabilities at least.

Those who are disagreeing with these observations are also disagreeing with the coaching staff's thoughts I suspect as well as I am sure he didn't start playing more conservatively in the 2nd half without having received a bake at half time for breaking team rules, trying to do to much and being undisciplined!!

To have him in the votes is just making some look silly.

He serves us best by just winning the hard ball and utilising the polish of players around him like Judd, Murphy, Gibbs etc instead of burning them!!

Not doubting that was the case with Robinson but there is no way he was in the top 5 best players on the ground for us, and Ellard certainly wasn't either IMO.

Have just watched the replay, well done boys, good effort all round :thumbsu:

5. Juddy.
4. Betts
3. Gibbs
2. Murph
1. Simpson

Special mention to Gibbs who is finally starting to take it to another level. This is what I've wanted :thumbsu:

been really impressed with the courage of our boys lately as well. their hunger for the ball yesterday was sensational.

Did AWG just give 4 a wrap? Is that what just happened?

well the people sitting in and around me at the game certainly kept yelling his name as much as Judd et al

I yelled it most of the day also when he kept kicking it to the Freo blokes under not much pressure, agree to disagree I suppose!
might also be the wa blues bias I keep getting into trouble for (and why I was sitting on my own-actually if you watch the replay have a look for the lovely blonde sitting front row behind the goals at the wa blues end. Lovely kid)

5. Judd
4. Gibbs (getting better every week)
3. Betts
2. Smurph
1. Thornton

BYP - Yaz

Sorry Yaz, but I've said "unlucky Thornton" at least twice already this year, I refuse to do it again.

Any other week Yaz would have cruised in for votes, but my man crush on Murphy and Thornton's performance on the weekend just nudged him out.

No votes for Juddy this week. the guy has too many votes as is...give someone else a turn :D
Sort of defeats the purpose of the 'voting' thing.

5. Judd
4. Betts
3. Murphy
2. Yarran
1. Gibbs (Needs to hit every target - sent so many over Kreuzer's head)

Still no coaches votes?
