Yes, I do and I'll tell you why. I put forward a view based on observation and in return we get.....well, have a look at the last few pages.
Not many care to discuss the points raised, but sooner applaud how many meters he has covered. What does that even mean? We know he's an athlete.

Like I said, I don't know nor care what others think and I may well be wrong, but I see a reason for Bolton to have some concerns about Weiterings development. I have nothing against Jacob and he'll develop into a wonderful footballer, but the concerns, as minor as they may be, are exactly what I'd say to his face, should I have the opportunity.

Last year

Byrne/Plowman Rowe Tuohy
Docherty Weitering Simpson

this year

Plowman Jones/Sylvagni Weitering
Docherty Marchbank Simpson/Thomas/Williamson/McCreadie

With Sylvagni and ROWE out - Weitering is forced to play against second tall and intercept marking caper has been delegated to Marchbank/Docherty. Less chance to lair off for Weiters - and we are SUFFERING for it - because Neither Docherty NOR Marchbank are better intercept markers. Weitering is doing his job playing one on ones against developed talls.

Meanwhile, he is running 15k in a game which is midfielder yardage and not getting too much time off the paddock - different role and harder yards no surprise that he is adjusting to a different set of KPI's. The kid is being developed into a running machine that can handle the second talls - he is still a few kilos shy of the size required to outmuscle these types - no surprises there.

What he does do is a lot of stuff that goes less noticed - but yes he isn't the instant AA monster rebounding defender a lot on this Board expected him to be already -as if that was ever realistic.

Was just watching the replay and was thinking Daisy will be playing a fair bit of 2s footy next year. Kicking is just not up to scratch. No penetration. Guys like DC will push him out of the side. Gets it 20 times a game with 6-8 poor disposals.
Didn't see the whole of Saturday's game but I've actually thought Daisy has been better this year, particularly once they got rid of that games clause.

I think he could be a handy player to keep around for some depth and magic up forward.

Don't be such a sensationalist. Please point out who exactly called him a pea heart and should never wear the jumper again?

His performances have been down on last year, where we were rightfully expecting incremental progression in his second year. Quite frankly comments pointing this out were warranted.

It was good to see him finally buck the trend, and have a meaningful impact on the weekend's game.
Read back through the posts and you will see.

I dont see it with our list. Who is old and in our best 22 and not performing now who wont be perfoming for another 2-3 years.

Dont count the White's of the world. They're not best 22.

But otherwise our senior players are Rowe, Simpson, Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer, Casboult, E.Curnow, Jones, ASOS, Daisy.

Apart from Simpson and Daisy all of those players have 3-5 years left. There isnt enough to justify a Hawthorn style forced cull. Let Daisy and Simmo play out to their natural end if its one or two more years.

No need for a forced cull of our experience, especially considering Casboult will go and potentially Gibbs too.
I'm talking more about the idea of trading Murphy if it gets us a younger replacement. The players with little or no trade value can see out their days at the club. The complacency on this forum is getting a bit stale of late as we start to assume things regarding what's going to happen at season's end. Gibbs is staying/not staying and we want Kelly and/or Hopper and everything else is fine and dandy. Whereas I say it's not that simple.

Kreuz once again in the AFL's Team Of The Week making it now 6 times this season!

MATTHEW KREUZER (Carlton) – Took control of the battle with Nathan Vardy and helped midfield teammates Marc Murphy and Bryce Gibbs match it with the Eagles' engine room. Had 33 hit-outs, seven tackles, five clearances and 17 disposals.

I love how Matty has belted the knockers over the fence this season. Always rated him and his ability to keep on truckin'. Will be pleased to see him get an AA this year.
Maybe even B&F at our club.
