Great win Dockers. Just watched the replay - tough finals like contest, and your game plan is built for finals. Load up on the $4 for the flag - ridiculous odds. I’ve got you even money.
Im not writing off my Roos, but I’m not convinced we can play 4 quarters of pressure footy like you obviously can.
Good luck for the rest of the year.

Mim is a big concern for me, she was getting rag dolled at some bounces, far too easily.
Too right every game I cringe at her total aversion for the contest. Today she started quite strong with solid hit-outs but soon turned into barely even tapping the ball even if she got first hand to it very lame looking.

Wonderful performance. The things that stood out for me were the clever little taps to a teammate rather than collecting the ball and being tackled, the second efforts and smothers. All the hard things that aren’t glamorous but are vital for success. Keep going Girls.👍

I don't think I have ever Loaded Up on a bet when I've been told to but I tell ya GoldSoundz you may just be the first. Obviously AFLW is more unpredictable with the smaller sample size, not to mention covid etc and at $4 that still puts Freo as the favourites.

But that does seem generous, I won't be mortgaging the house but I might just see if they can shout me a night out while I celebrate their first premiership .

Duffy's just like... nope .

Who knows where this season ends for everyone and so its great to see them enjoying the win, they've played some cracking football and are a credit to themselves and what the club and the AFLW want to achieve.

Didn't get to watch, but awesome statement game from us.

Also, obligatory:

Not obligatory but love the sentiment:

Don’t forget this one. I’m sure he and the rest of the media will be all fawning over how great the dockers are now.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Just kidding. That would be ridiculous.

I’m sure the GC game will a “big test for the Dockers” or “lets see if they can back up the big win and not have a let down against the suns”, or probably the most likely is

“After Freo’s big win against premiership favorites, the Crows, did you see Nic Mat’s new training boots? They’re spectacular.”

The constant physical pressure opposition teams are putting on Stef Cain should show how important she is to our ball movement.

Always trying to put hits on her.

Yet there she is, all by herself in space like nobody else wants to run.

She will get properly crunched in a final. Absolutely driven into the ground, stuck between the elevator doors and kneed in everywhere.

There will be a fight over it.

An angry Bowers, plus Houghton and the Antonios running at you might make you mess your pants a little. Throw in Gooch, Stannett, Pugh, O’Sullivan and O’Driscoll and you better make sure you’re up for the fight. And just wait till KJ gets in there. All hell will break loose... 😈👊🏽

I wonder if Emma King could be enticed home. Salivating at the thought... 🤤

6’2” AA and still only 26. Could we afford her?

How good is Trent Cooper as coach! I know JLo is good and has big wraps but I’ve been so impressed by Trent since he took over the Women’s team.

If things don’t work out with JLo I’d be very happy with Trent. I wish our Men’s team played like that style of play.
Was just thinking, is there anyone from the women's program we can integrate into the mens? The girls have got all the attributes of a team thats well-drilled and working for each other, we could use some of that synergy with the guys.

It should really go the other way. Currently the AFL is all about scoring on turnover - that is something the AFLW has plenty of, but they also turn it over on counter attack quite a bit. The first side to set up the wall across half back and through the use of elite kicking move the ball back to their scoring end will never lose. Especially if they are also capable of winning the contested/running game that beats the intercepting/kicking game style. I haven't seen many teams have the bravery to move the ball through the corridor in general play except when it's by running it.

The difference between the average pace player and the elite sprinters is much bigger at AFLW level, and we have some of the quickest players in the league - so our style of scoring from turnover by trying to get the ball over the top and out the back with the open paddock to goal can be very effective.

The reality is that our elite players would look very special against state league quality sides too if the AFL were at the same stage of development as the AFLW.

In a handful of years we will have young women coming through with the ball winning, focus and work ethic of Bowers but the athletic profile of Houghton and the kicking skills of Gary Ablett Jnr - and they will tear the competition apart. Eventually the standard of player entering the system will be so high that the natural talent without athleticism won't be enough to get a place anymore and we will know we have found the level the AFL is at now.

She is looking a bit tired and sore. She is only a young ruck, so is carrying a heavy load. The issue is, is that Roux provides the chop out but she can be so dangerous forward you don't want her to spend a lot of time in the ruck.

Trent Cooper is a brilliant coach and I think each of his assistants has each done a great job. Think getting rid of some 'bad eggs' has helped the team dynamic a fair bit as well.

This isn't the thread to discuss the men's coaching staff but I think we've recruited well there as well lately. And we've tossed some 'bad eggs' with the men's team as well so looking forward to seeing whether the men's dynamic is more like the Freo AFLW one this season. I suspect it will be noticeably better.
