It's funny, but we are pretty much where a lot of our preseason prognostications hoped we would be...3 wins and zip, pretty much got the best 22 playing (if not all in brilliant form), our next tier (Fishy, Turner, Dumont, BMac, Wood, Daw, Nahas) fit and firing, and the kids showing more than plenty. While we are winning there aren't going to be many changes, so just a replacement for Garner (Nahas, Turner, or Wood) would be on the cards, but the underperforming seniors will know they are under the pump and the intensity at training and in the VFL will hopefully raise the bar.

The next 3 weeks might well define our season...I will take 2 out of 3 wins, thank you very much...reckon we will struggle against the Dogs...win all three and the lids off......lose them all and it's a BF meltdown...all winnable, all losable.

Bring it on.

With the way the Dogs are going, plus our record against the Suns and at Metricon, I'd be expecting just the one win, next week. If we manage to get over the Dogs or Suns, let alone both, I'd be very happy, especially given they are direct competitors at this stage for a top four berth.

Hi Neale. We need to keep you quiet.

This. I was going to suggest sending Jacobs to Neale. He flys under the radar but is more damaging then Fyfe with his disposal. Fyfe would be as close to a untaggable player going around. Fyfe would probably try and take Jacobs forward too, Jacobs has no chance against Fyfe in the air.

I'd also run Gibson with Hill.

With Freos outs and lack of forwards this is a non negotiable win for mine.

There should also be the thought of swapping Hansen for Thompson as Freo only have Pav as a genuine KPF. The way Freo have been kicking into 50 Hansen should have a field day.

Bank the points and move on.

Plenty of lessons to be learned, and that goes for Brad too. We have most players available for selection with some kicking the door down. Time to play form and let passengers sort theirs out in the twos...

Swallow, Lindsay, Cunnington and Atley's last couple of weeks worrisome...

Freo are wounded, this will be a hard fought game imo The midfield play anywhere near as shitful as they were against Melbourne and they will smoke us.

BJ - Neale
Spitta - Fyfe hopefully he can rack up 10-15 tackles as he pretty much offers nothing else.

And we're winning. Imagine when they start playing well.

Too true...

Can we afford passengers coming into Freo, Suns, Dogs? I dont think so. A strong team with healthy depth should be able to blood a few young blokes during the season a la Sydney style if form warrants, and let struggling players regain theirs with little to no pressure.

I know there is zero chance for 3-4 changes(and rightly so), but i would think 2 would be reasonable with some of the games trotted out by players thus far.

Personally I'm looking at Dal. If he doesn't lift he's gone. Wrong side of 30 and seems to be batteling. Is he offering more then say Mullett or even Clarke? I know it would require a reshuffle but he should be one of our best at his age, otherwise what's the point ?

FWIW Freo carry more passengers then us. I'm more concerned about the Suns. They could tear us big style through the middle.

Goldy is going to have to dominate to keep their mids out of it.

We get those 3 wins and we are absolutely set up for top 4 - not saying it is easy. Need a professional performance against Fremantle and then need to load up to absolutely grind GC into the dirt. Worry about the Dogs after that.

I don't want to write Dal off, cos he adds another level off class when he's on. His defensive efforts - heck, effort in general - has been really off the first three games. That pissy kick off the ground instead of picking up the ball last week really annoyed me, and his apparent lack of intensity is worrying.

In saying that, he's a proven performer Dal, and it wouldn't surprise me if he really stands up in the next three weeks against quality opposition.

Swallow must be playing with an injury, he's not right. Take him out of the team and get him right for the back end of the season.
Thomas is showing the confidence problems of a few years ago and his shoulder may need a rest, needs to go back to VFL and give Nahas a run.
Nothing too wrong with Brown, but Wood needs game time. Maj needs to do better in the VFL before he earns a chance.
Jacobs needs to tag Fyfe this week like he's never tagged before.

Methinks the boys will be setting themselves for the Suns 'retribution' game as this was last year's line-in-the-sand loss. Would still be a good win, but it's one we shouldn't be dropping this year. Like you, I would be mighty surprised if we knocked off the Dogs, although I think the loss of Murphy might hurt them badly. Gunna be a good month of footy.

You, me and Dupree all know that no matter what Brad tells them, no matter what they say in the press this week..

..there are several North players who will roll into the Freo game in party mode.

If we win it'll probably take either Freo getting out to a 25-30 point lead OR us allowing a lead to drop to under 2 goals to wake us up properly.

I'll be pretty pissed if we aren't going full bore to win.

We need to push ourselves into good form in this game. It won't be a walk in the park, but we need to be cherry ripe for the 2 weeks that follow.

In many ways the next 3 weeks can define where we are travelling.

Yep. Season defining 3 weeks for us.

0 wins = disaster
1 win = struggle to get that top 4 finish we're craving
2 wins = on track
3 wins = new "how's ya lid?" thread from RoyalBlue

Atley gets into the clear before hitting Mzungu on the chest

Thompson declining Waite's lead before getting himself caught HTB in the square

Swallow fumbling, falling over and Griffin (yes Griffin) swooping on the crumb and banging it through from 55 to prompt the commentator to say "gee he's really hurting Goldstein going the other way" (despite Goldie having 8 goals at that stage)

These are all things I have foreseen in the tea leaves.
