Still early in the week and am assuming that Hyde and Richo will both miss with their injuries.

F - Kayne Pettifer - Jay Schulz - Ray Hall
HF - Nathan Brown - Shane Morrison - Brent Hartigan
C - Joel Bowden - Kane Johnson - Mark Coughlan
HB - Mark Chaffey - Darren Gaspar - Chris Newman
B - Aaron Fiora - Ty Zantuck - Andrew Kellaway
R - Brad Ottens - Wayne Campbell - Andrew Krakouer
INT - Greg Stafford - Greg Tivendale - Tom Roach - Luke Weller
EMERG - Rory Hilton - David Rodan - Justin Blumfield

IN - Pettifer, Schulz, Roach, Weller
OUT - Rodan, Fleming, Richardson (Inj), Hyde (Inj)

Rodan and Fleming both sent back to Coburg after both were missing in action. I think today we were still a tall short so Schulz comes in for Richo and Weller is an extra tall. I'm not Pettifer's biggest fan but 4 goals and Best on Ground should be rewarded with senior selction. And to be honest I'd rather persist with Pettifer rather than give games to the likes of Rogers, D.Kellaway and Houlihan. Roach comes in for his debut after also featuring in the best players for Coburg. Please Danny give Schulz a full game up forward at least he'll have a dip and will give plenty of second efforts to try and hold the ball in the forward line.

The most important thing though IMO opininon is just to play attacking football and quit with all this short passing and chipping the ball around.

play the kids!
Pettifer is still relatively young and was best for Coburg solid form should be rewarded we can't just play kids like Gilmour and Raines who haven't shown any form at Coburg and obviously arent ready.

F: Andrew Krakouer - Jay Schulz - Ray Hall
HF: Nathan Brown - Shane Morrison - Aaron Fiora
C: Joel Bowden - Kane Johnson - Greg Tivendale
HB: Mark Chaffey - Darren Gaspar - Chris Newman
B: Brent Hartigan - Ty Zantuck - Andrew Kellaway
R: Brad Ottens - Wayne Campbell - Mark Coughlan
INT - Greg Stafford - Fletcher - Tom Roach - Pettifer.

IN - Fletcher, Schulz, Roach, Pettifer
OUT - Rodan, Fleming, Richardson (Inj), Hyde (Inj)

Hartigan in a Back Pocket/Back flank. No kicking power to kick goals. Give him a run in the midfield at the end of quarters.

Fiora Add him to the midfield rotation. In the backline is a waste and you can expect that from a non-defender.

Pettifer Good game in the VFL - 4 goals I think.. needs a go.

Fletcher Another one who we should give a go. Had a fair crack against the dockers last year, will see if he can prove himself.

Roach Kid needs a game. Silky smooth skills unlike a lot of others.

FORWARDS
Schulz, Hall, Morrison up in the forward line.. bomb it long into them with Krak and Browny at the feet.. thats not too hard, is it?

MIDFIELD
Short week for the boys which is why I think a big midfield rotation is needed. Fiora, Roach, Fletcher will add to it.

BACKS
Shouldnt really struggle this week IMO. Zantuck at Full back shouldnt stuggle.

PS: If there is any mistakes on the team (just copied kretch's and made a few changes) let me know :D

Changes have to made though Richo and Hyde out through injury is two but we can't continue to reward Rodan for his inconsistency and Fleming for his medicority. Who are four people before Pettifer who have shown consistent form for Coburg this year? Houlihan has been in the best the last two weeks but surely we don't want this bloke back in the side.

Totally agree...go long. Better turn the ball over 50 meters away than turn it over on the spot.

I have to face facts...the players are either not getting the message...or...maybe the message is just plain wrong.

and If that's the case I need to start apologising to all the locals.

That's the dilemma. We have no depth. Pettifer has been given alot of senior games in the past without showing he deserves them and as for houlihan don't need to say more. Schulz will come in for Richo but there's no one else obvious to come in. I can see Kayne getting a game next week, doing nothing and then everyone screaming for him to be dropped. Our bottom 6 (or more) aren't up to AFL standard.

So the only changes you would make are due injuries?

If these guys were not injured would you make any changes?

Sad thing is Mighty Tigers, Hoolihan has the stats from the mcgoos
and is the obvious option.

Can we try Morrison at CHB ?

We better win this one or the season's over.

Every player has to go out there and want to win this one, not worry about losing. Frawley, if he can, needs to get the players into a frenzy because the season rides on this game.

Our best year of footy since our last GF appearance was in 1995. And Richo did a knee and we didnt have him for the entire season. Didnt matter how many injuries we had, Swooper had the players performing consistently every week.

Frawley, get the players fired up. No DEFENSIVE tactics against the Cats. Get the team into a winning frame of mind.

We must go out there to win. If we play defensive against the Cats like we did against the Saints and we lose, I'm going to change my mind about sacking Frawley at the end of the year. I want him sacked now because if this season's over after Rd4, we've got NO HOPE of keeping players like Brad Ottens next year. And I think Cogs is also out of contract. Trying keeping them when we miss the finals for the 3rd year in a row.

Hyde is out injured but if he wasn't, I would tell him to to either play as an attacking midfielder (like Kirk) or drop him.

Newman also has to be told to back himself and run free rather than simply stopping a player. He got hardly any of the ball, mainly because he was defending his opponent.

Richo is injured and presumably out for next week. Not sure how bad a hammy it was - I think it was only a minor one. Still, with his history, it means at least 2 weeks on the sideline.

Drop Fleming. He is not adding anything to the team like he was last year and if anything, is detracting from it.

Rodan was playing as a crumbing forward. Problem was that the ball wan't coming in quick enough and not directed to tall targets so there were no crumbs available for him. Also didn't get a run in the middle where he may have done some damage.

I would rather see him run as a midfielder before dropping him back to Coburg.

Get Fiora out of defence. He did well against Milne and also was one of the few providing attack from defence. We need his pace and penetration and class running through the middle, breaking lines and attacking.

Keep Morrisson at CHF. He has been doing well there, providing a target depsite the haphazard way the ball has been coming forward.

Funnily enough, now that Richo is out, Zantuck may be able to work as a FF. The two of them didn't work together because Zantuck was overshadowed by Richo's own gravity well!

Zantuck should start at FF and be a constant leading option. He doesn't have the height or skill to be a marking forward.

I would also play the resting ruckman as a stat-at-home FF with a crumber stationed right underneath him.

Still, this is all academic if the ball is not delivered forward in an attacking manner.

This is 4 forwards and 6 defenders which means 12 midfielders. None of them should be tagging and at worst, should be going head to head with their opponents.

Defenders to run off their men AT EVERY INSTANCE when we get the ball in the back half.

If we cough it up and cost ourselves a goal or two, then so be it. We will probably create more out of this attack anyway so it is worth the risk.

Good to see we are looking towards next week instead of dwelling and wanting the coaches head.

For me

F: Andrew Krakouer - Jay Schulz - Kane Pettifer
HF: Ray Hall - Shane Morrison - Joel Bowden
C: Nathan Brown - Kane Johnson - Greg Tivendale
HB: Mark Chaffey - Darren Gaspar - Chris Newman
B: Brent Hartigan - Andy Kellaway - Ty Zantuck
R: Brad Ottens - Wayne Campbell - Mark Coughlan
INT - Greg Stafford - Simon Fletcher - Tom Roach - Aaron Fiora.

With geelong not boasting to many forwards that are attacking i think that we have a good chance vs them.

Need marking targets across half forward and hall morrison and bowden are good enough. Expect Staff to go forawrd and ottens to drop back to help out play.

TEAM vs GEELONG
...............................

B. Zantuck Gaspar Newman
HB. Tuck Kellaway Chaffey
C. Roach Coughlan Tivendale
HF. Campbell Morrison Brown
F. Fiora Shultz Bowden
R. Ottens Krakouer Johnson

INT. Stafford, Pettifer, Hall, Hartigan.

Tuck to play in Fioras spot down back, Fiora to push Forward and create another option, along with Campbell, Bowden, Brown in a more versatile forward structure. Shultz and Morrison to be the targets but the others to create havoc.

Midfield of Ottens, Coughlan, Johnson, Krakouer, Tivendale and Roach is young and talented, give them instuctions to chance their arm and play good, hard, attacking football.

The backline looks stable enough with a mediocre Geelong forward line. Gaspar and Kellway to take number 1 and 2 forwards, with Tuck, Zantuck to cover other options. Chaffey and Newman to create run out of defence, play attacking football.

The bench of Stafford (to relieve Otto), Pettifer (to spell foward options), Hall (create mismatch), and Hartigan (midfield cover) will create a good enough rotation throughout the match.

A lot of people were posting before the game that Hall is a dud and would be a liability against Gehrig and Riewoldt.

Guess what, he was!!!

Spud is not fit to post messages on this site, let alone coach our fotty club.
