Not cocky at all, just happy with a fairly complete performance and not wanting to rush in a player with injury and form concerns. Doesn't mean Charlie stays in the 2s forever. Just reward the forward setup that got us our highest score in 3 years, and let Charlie build back to his best.
I’d say while things are going well in the forward line we should take the luxury of giving him the extra week of rest for his knee. If I had to think what would give Charlie the best chance of having his best 2019, it wouldn’t involve managing knee soreness from week to week. Get it right now so he can be better for the next four months.

Strange take to want to banish Daisy. He's proving himself to be a serviceable defender when it's never been his go and provides run all day long. He's a smart player and whilst the kids develop we need him, especially for morale and teaching. The time will come when he's replaced and we will be better for it, but I can't see that happening any time soon.

It's probably been mentioned a dozen times already, but isn't it amazing the difference in output when we play Gibbons on ball, the position he dominated the VFL in as opposed to being starved of it in the forward pocket.

yes I was hard on Daisy and agree with so much people have said about his leadership and courage, particularly last year. But yesterday 14 touches, 6 clangers , 4 frees against are not good numbers but I do love the way he celebrated the win and am not trying to be controversial . I just feel the time is coming for a younger one now.

Shout out to Cas - the whipping boy of the Carlton BF page - and JSOS - the whipping boy of every other BF page. Really liked JSOS’ second efforts. Last year he always took one second too long to get rid of the ball which always resulted in him being dispossessed. Yesterday he looked a lot more aware and his footy smarts were impressive. Really hope he makes it.

There can be only 1
Glad Gibbons showed what he can add to the side as a mid.
Team played together.
Dow was hitting up players much better this game.
Cas did his job and I like the Harry Cas show as our twin towers in forward half. Let McGovern and Charlie roam.
SPS - Well Done.
Lovely to see Jack Silvagni play that role and we saw murph and fisher snapping goals.
I loved it so much I watched it twice.

Tracker shows he's one of the fastest on the ground, his courage is huge, he's got leadership down back to help the quiet simmo, he flies into contact and puts his once broken body on the line repeatedly. Guy has been great with his disposal this season. As Daisy is a defender it's worth noting that Dunkley had 0 scoring shots. Your analysis isn't just wrong. It's really bizarre.
Agreed, the day Daisy retires will leave me just as saddened as when Judd left, proud to have him as a blue bagger

He’s been playing very average all year, including JLT.

Why do some believe poor form excludes them from a run in the seconds?

I’d prefer Harry not rucking, Casboult for the moment, has been doing the dual role well. I do not want to be playing 4 talls in the one forward line, it’s cumbersome and we don’t have the quality smalls up forward to make it a success as yet.

One thing is for sure, Casboult doesn’t have history of continued form over a shortish term period and McGovern is a game or two away from being considered for a spell himself (a quarter here and there doesn’t cut it). So the likelihood is if Curnow can have a 2019 breakout game in the 2’s then he’ll be back in pretty quickly.

Personally, I think it will do him the world of good
Yep lest we forget our pick 1 played Magoos last year..

I think the "Telstra Tracker" info is relatively new and the public - and CERTAINLY the commentators - don't quite know what to make of it, or how to interpret it. Lingy et al act like they know what's going on and read the top name off the list when it pops up on TV and say "no surprises there!" even though 5 seconds before it came up they'd have no sodding idea who would be at the top.

One thing I've noticed is usually the top 5 for distance covered are not all midfielders as one might expect. Suggests maybe they a) get rotated on/off ground more than forwards and defenders and that TOG makes a difference, but also maybe b) moving around in the midfield does not actually involve any more distance than long searching leads or having to position up/down field by running across the ground like forwards and their defenders do when they're "off camera".

Charlie has had about 4 knocks around that knee starting in JLT.
Hes a big man and relies on his agility to play his kind of game.
So I think its no wonder he has been less than what we hope.
Its easy to say poor form but much better to look for why.
Levi had that bone bruising last year and never was right again till his fingers problem.

I love reading through this thread. I agree with most of it. My 2 cents.

McKay
Ok, kid is off, was simply brilliant and worked hard all over the ground.

Samo
Wow! He just raised the bar. I watched the Pele film on Netflix this morning and there seemed to be parallels. I think Samo looks best playing naturally instead of to a script. He may have just found his mojo.

JSOS
I am impressed with his aptitude. Just won’t give up and bleeds blue. He might not be in our top 22 in skill but he is in our top 10 for desire. I think he will make it purely on passion.

Gibbons
I was wrong. I was one of the supporters that wasn’t convinced. As soon as he was out through the middle, he looked a different player. He is best 22.

Levi
Always liked him and feel that he straightens is up. Imagine trying to defend against Levi, McKay and Charlie. Nearly impossible. Earns another week.

Jones
I think that Bolton summed it up. When he has genuine support in defence, Liam is a dominant 1on1player.

Weitering
He is back. Had played well every game this year.

Plowman
Has stopped making mistakes. He had a bad year in so many ways last year and has just honed his craft.

Dow
Played well. Needs another season playing seniors. Bolton needs to be patient.

Fisher
I think it’s funny that he kicked three and you can sense that there is still so much improvement to come. Could win a Brownlow in his career. Goes under the radar.

Simmo, Murphy & Thomas
They don’t need to play out of their skin for us to win anymore. I think they are starting to enjoy themselves.

Kruezer
Is our spirit animal. Seriously, there is a different energy about the team when he is out there.

Newman & Marchy
Didn’t play their best games but the pleasing thing is our defence looked solid. When you have two defenders have reasonable games and still win by 44 points, your midfield played a blinder.

I think we might have a list that can go places. I haven’t felt that for a decade.

Cheers,

TA

easily.

I remember saying in our mates footy group chat "ok.... thats the best we've looked all season"

I was totally waiting for us to fk it up :D
turned to my very good little mate, dragged him out from under his seat and said that's the best piece of footy we have pulled off all year - probably longer

I like Foxtel as well but after 15 years I reckon it’s a bit steep.
dunno what it's like now but one of foxtel's major problems was telling you for endless periods exactly what's on foxtel - cross promotional hell........
