The irony for me is that after last week is the one time they did get way low after a loss. It was in their faces. And it was the right moment for that to happen. They responded and deserve to be too high right now for a day or two.
Agree. Feels like it’s galvanised the group and could be a real turning point for our club. Onwards and upwards from here!!

Watched the replay last night... literally astounds me that anyone could be negative a about Plowman’s game. He was excellent - both defensively and in his execution and decision making.

And there’s just something about Gibbons in the midfield... looked dangerous and a little golden nugget, and i honestly can’t wait to see what he will be producing as he gets some more games under his belt.

And Jack - his versitility has made him extremely valuable and dangerous around the ground. He was helping us link up on the wing and half forward when that has been such an achilles heel the first few weeks. And dare i say it, the boy has put on some muscle!! Very excited.
I believe that they (the coaches) can see Gibbons has some 'stuff', but that throwing him straight in the hurlyburly of an AFL midfield was not the way to go. He was given time to find the pace. That is really good coaching.
Short sighted supporters will always be critics based on the moment.

Agree re both - in regards to plowman the answer is not "pay em out early" it is "unwillingness to change pre-existing rigid thought patterns".

About Jack ... Watching from the stands, I had to double-take, looks so much like his dad. Even the way he runs.

I love the Carlton arrogance it’s back,Charlie to come back through the magoos, priceless.

He’s been playing very average all year, including JLT.

Why do some believe poor form excludes them from a run in the seconds?

I’d prefer Harry not rucking, Casboult for the moment, has been doing the dual role well. I do not want to be playing 4 talls in the one forward line, it’s cumbersome and we don’t have the quality smalls up forward to make it a success as yet.

One thing is for sure, Casboult doesn’t have history of continued form over a shortish term period and McGovern is a game or two away from being considered for a spell himself (a quarter here and there doesn’t cut it). So the likelihood is if Curnow can have a 2019 breakout game in the 2’s then he’ll be back in pretty quickly.

Personally, I think it will do him the world of good

That was a free kick every day of the week, he may have overplayed it but doesn’t matter.

One thing I noticed watching the game live and on replay is how close to the line Newman goes to a free kick, different week/different umpires would be paying them. He needs to clean it up a bit.

Don’t know why he pushed the bulldog player in the back in the square, all he had to do was concentrate bashing the ball over the line from the high bounce. Even more ridiculous was how the umpire didn’t see it, was as blatant as you would ever see
Good.
We need that bit of agression. All power to Newman. Its worth a free kick at times to get under opposition skin.

Charlie’s last game he managed 17 disposals, 9 marks and a goal, playing forward in a losing team which had very scrappy ball movement with Gold Coast suns.

Not bad for a player out of form and carrying something. Added, one who demands the best opposition defender.

Think with Charlie the expectations are huge. Even when down, he’s still our most dangerous forward, although Harry is closing quickly.

You may be right but to me he hasn't looked his usual self.

Jack Silvagni is that enigma. He might get few posessions but they are very often significant. He will often look slow. But he will get to the ball and make something happen that wouldn't happen the same way if it was anyone else. It makes goals when there wasn't going to be one. And the ball in our posession when it wasn't.

Agreed perfect example is Murphys goal

By the way, who played on Hunter? He’s hugely important to their structure, and he was basically shut down.

One other positive: even though it didn’t lead to anything, JSOS’s effort in shrugging that tackle towards the end of the third quarter showed the difference between a pre- and post fourth-year body. Just imagine when our other players get there too?

I wasn’t at the game so was hard to tell.

FOX commentators remarked that LOB and Murphy were alternating on him to keep him quiet - did an excellent job.

There are others, but i would name Jezza for one.

Set be a 100 goal full forward in an era where the FF was king, and invented the attacking HBF role instead.

Jezza loses points for not being loyal ;)

Great win by the boys and what a difference it is leaving the game a winner!!!

Hoping this kick starts our season and gives the boys that belief so they can continue enjoying that winning feeling!

BAGGERS!!!

Winning is great - but I was more happy that we played smart football and implemented an intelligent game plan without the fumbles and brain fades of last week.

I would rather us play great football and lose (due to inexperience and youth) than play shit/dumb football and win - at least I would know we’re headed in the right direction.

This week I was lucky - I got both the great football and the win.

An observation from yesterday's game. I was sitting right behind the Carlton bench. Halfway through the first quarter Cripps came to the bench and grabbed Docherty's whiteboard and put a whole lot of dots on the board. I have no idea what was being said but it was great to see how the captains worked with each other.

What a great game to be at. How much fun was Harry's run even though he missed.
Was doing the votes, gave himself 3, he just knows.
