The other thing with Wietering up forward is that, to mix football code metaphors, we lose a quarterback and gain a number 10. Our disposal from HB this year has been shit but Williamson's emergence could potentially solve the QB problem.

to further muddy the waters, perhaps you mean a trequartista?

Playing Weits up forward certainly releases the pressure off of Cas.

Cas struggled with the pressure of being the main forward of recent years,
Not to mention his kicking woes, and knowing he had to kick goals for the team.
And obviously the opposition players getting inside his head.
Yes, for sure. Midfield is not the only place where the players need support and Weitering is supplying that as a fresh option in attack. Can't wait for LeBois/Sumner to add into the mix to cleanup around the packs and add more defensive pressure.

Can anyone remember Williamson missing a target? Sure some of his kicks to a contest or hacked out of traffic have not resulted in us retaining possession, but an instance where a player was open and the ball not being served up on a plate.
Watched him live on Saturday he is silk all over not just he's kicking but the way he moves.200 game player no doubt and will be elite not just a "solid citizen".

Top 10% in all of the draft combine events and #1 for agility. Tremendous athlete and footy skills taboot. Cant believe we are finding players at pick 61. We historically havent even been able to pick them in the top 20. Got bless you SOS. God bless us, everyone!

I like the types SOS has gone for with late picks, hasn't looked at the blokes with a low ceiling. Polson had his injury problems last year and Williamson is a bottom ager. If the draft age was a year older, fair to say that Williamson would be being talked about as a potential top 10 pick in his age bracket.

We have a while to wait until Weiters has the tank to push up the ground more. One thing we have lost this year is Weiters marking the kick in after the opposition kicks a point. Charlie is starting to mark a couple of these.
Exiting times people ...

I don't think we'll have to wait long at all.
What did Weitering clock on his beep? Wasn't it 15.1 That was top 5
The tank may already be there....it's the will to push himself Riewoldt-like, that will be the difference.

Riewoldt's beep was in the high 13's, but training and fitness standards have come a long way since then.

Weiters has a midfielder's engine.

Weitering, Charlie Curnow, Williamson and Marchbank can run all day.
Good having some supremely mobile talls..........Cripps though, has to push himself to the limit. :)

Need more 2 way running mids. Pretty sure they're on SOS's list already

Watched the Game in full yesterday.

Agree totally with the raps re Williamson.

SPS Wow, has anyone noticed at What speed he gives off the Handball to a player in a better position in Tight contest.
Super Quick.

Looks like Cas is Starting to Enjoy his Footy!!!!!

Does anyone know what made Williamson slip to #61? He just looks so good this year in terms of physical attributes, competitiveness & good skills...basically the complete package.

But there must have been a reason he went so late in the draft...looks like he's matured and filled out body wise quite a lot even since last year when he was playing juniors.

Yep you're right, Weits has amazing endurance which is one of the reasons he's suited to that half forward Riewoldt role.
Few can say the push themselves as hard as Riewoldt does, but Weits looks to be made of the right stuff mentally so wouldn't surprise me if he gets to that level or at least quite close to it.

One potential issue is Weits isn't very quick...at all. And he knows it he's mentioned it before. So far he has been able to compensate for that with his endurance and footy IQ, but gee if he was quicker he'd be near unstoppable. He's not as quick as Riewoldt and probably won't split packs like he used to, but he's a much better kick.

If I had to guess, probably performance in games.

Testing well athletically is one thing, but if he was struggling to have an impact on-field then that would have put recruiters off a bit.

I took my daughter to get first game on the weekend and she absolutely loved it. We sat behind the cheer squad and she was enthralled. Great to experience a win at her first ever live game.
A memory I will forever cherish.
Beautiful! I have many happy memories of my papa taking me to watch our beloved Blues, I hope your daughter enjoys that time together as much as I did growing up.

Was there with my 2yo next door neighbour. Too young to appreciate his team getting belted but like most Swans fans wanted to leave at 3/4 time. He did enjoy me singing the song after the game though.

Super Quick.

It's hard not to notice but also easy to miss, if you're not looking hard.

Very soft but quick hands. He almost placed the ball into Weiterings, for that goal.
