I feel better with Stocker at half back than SPS at any rate. Samo can kick I50 with his shorter kicks and Stocker can rebound from 50 with longer kicks.

Played his first 5 all in a row. Always double figure disposals too. Not bad for a then teenager in a Doc-less backline, when we lost all 5 of those games.

As if to prove my conspiracy from earlier, those 5 games were immediately before Teague took over. This will be his first game under Teague.

.. not many guys with his body size and elite foot skill on either side of his body who has game awareness don't make it . If he doesn't we have a major problem - I would say the same for SPS-they should have a role even if not champions they should not be talked about as a miss

His 2019 season review, just to whet the appetite.

They are trying to juggle a poor player selection in murph and making the 8. If we had much better players then Murphy’s pissweak performances would probably go unnoticed but we have too many passengers. I assume they believed team would be stronger by now and they would easily get murph to 300.
I think they also assumed they would have Martin, Fisher and JSOS available to tip out Murph too, but alas not to be

Outs feels a bit unfair; killing these kids confidence(s). Would have liked a senior player dropped to send a message, they appear untouchable which isn't great for team culture.

Selection integrity nowhere to be seen. Old man Murph, Betts, levi or newnes - one of them needed to go to send a message to the young guys busting a gut in the twos.

Happy - Stocker & Cuningham get their chance :thumbsupv1:

Disappointed - Immunity Continues - Betts, Murphy, Casboult & Newnes :rolleyesv1:

SPS still stuck down back :madv1:
If every single blue blood can see it why can't the MC?

Betts does provide opportunity and defence but is a two game on one game rested player. Playing him week in week out lowers his input per week. He has now played what 4-5 weeks in a row? Stupid.

Casboult has provided very little and is injured yet keeps on getting a gig as our ruck stocks are deplorable. This is again on the coaching staff as they are not creative enough to come up with a fix with the troops available. They would rather play an ineffective, broken part then work out a work around.

Murphy must have some deal with the club to get him to 300 .... love him, love his service but is being gifted games at this point. How is that good for team morale? Again very stupid.

Newness again has an immunity token or something .... viable replacements yet still in the team after his truly awful performance last week .... mind blown.

I know u cannot make wholesale changes but dropping and then putting back in the same parts week in week out solves nothing. At least the ins are "new" this week.

Club just seems stuck in mud at the moment .... dear in headlights.

The only hope is that magically it all clicks .... which I have to say is a pipe dream at the moment.

Deflated but will still watch and pray.

Yes gab it’s disgraceful.
I love Murphy and agree with your sentiments .... he has been a great player for our club in some truly lean years and stuck fat, for that he deserves praise. But on output alone this year he does not deserve to be in the team, like a few other players, this just sends the wrong message and builds the wrong culture.

When we have a team that understands no one is safe from an extended drop of form no matter what you have done in the past maybe we will move forward with fewer passengers per week.

We need a hard edge we are way too soft and everyone knows it.

yes - and so did escort tens..............
I went for the woodbine tens ....cheaper
Although pinching my Mums B and H better again.
Couldn't cope with my Dads Rothmans plains red pack...no filter. (aye currumba )
Only real men could smoke them ;) :laughv1:

Gave up three months ago now....Dont have to take my heart out and put it on a bench twice!!! :D

Levi was our only effective forward last week IMO and has a HUGE HEART..... We cant afford not to play blokes that give it all.

Memo...... Samo

I wonder though. If Dow and SPS spent the last several years developing at the doggies - would they be serious quality mids? One imagines they might be.
Also, why didn't we go for Treloar?

More a message to the other underperforming older players to lift your game or adios

Disappointed that Newnes was spared ahead of Williamson, was the perfect opportunity to send SPS to the wing.
You are the one always banging on about various athletic traits and abilities. I am fed up with the calls of SPS to midfield or wing, thought you would pick up, he simply does not have the physical prowess to play big minutes in the engine room. I am on board with many "out of position" issues across the list, but get tired of this one.

The bloke either can't or won't work hard enough on the track to be "midfield ready". Playing him in defence is the only option to keep his talents in the team. For the most part, the defenders do not do the kilometres the mids, wings and half forwards do. This also explains the pathetic "dinky" kicking, the bloke won't extend himself after a welter of soft tissue injuries in his "formative" years. Posters squawk about Eddie, Murphy and co not being able to kick 40 metres up forward, how is SPS going to go?

For three years, I attended multiple training sessions on the Sunshine Coast during the club's camp. SPS and Plowman to a slightly lesser extent did not participate in drills. They walked laps and had a minimal amount of very limited kick to kick. The positioning of SPS is more an SPS issue than a selection issue in my opinion.

I will not be harsh enough to outwardly suggest he is lazy, but his training and match input to my eye is governed by physical limitations or apprehensions.

Did anyone just see the Bulldogs last 7 or 8 minutes against GWS?

I'm not going to say anything as I'd only be being negative but wow!

If you get a chance do yourself a favour an see the difference between them and us.

Their movement out the middle and goal kicking was outstanding...6 or 7 goals I think.

In the last 16 games David Teague has only won games against :

North
Freo
Gold Coast
Sydney

Thats it.

GWS were right with them till that point - and had 10 players with less than 20 games in their team. Carltons team for most of this year has been in the top 5 or 6 oldest in the league.

Teague's success when he took over from Bolton came in playing some of the older players instead of Boltons desire to blood the youngsters. This initial wining phase has stuck - and he will not change. Player development is being killed as a result.
