How good is it to see a couple of young Cats in the top 5/6 of the Rising Star this year:

Seriously, though, fantastic effort from both of these players. And Miers must now be the inspiration for every young tyro at the club to believe that sustained senior footy is possible from anywhere, provided you are prepared to do all the hard work.

Stacks of players in that team were not eligible for the Rising Star, though.

Bailey Smith, who finished above our boys in the RS count, also didn't make the 22.

And, of those who finished below our duo in the RS, only Zurhaar from the Kangas made it.

To be rated so highly in the Rising Star is still a great accolade for our players, who are in only their first and second years of footy.

Of those in their first year, only Walsh, Stack and Rozee made the team.

Pretty reasonable votes. Nearly choked on my cornflakes reading the afl.com teams rising star votes the other day, they were awful, had Oscar Allen and Battle getting votes ahead of Miers.
