Correct. Yarran has more natural talent in his little finger than Garlett does in his entire body.

Im happy to give Garlett benefit of the doubt. The step back into AFL would be a smack in the face. I'll give him until end of next year to adjust back into it. His tackle numbers are okay, he's just not finding the ball enough and I'm not sure he's a hunter. I also reckon his body is getting a good wake up call. Another pre-season and another 25 games before I say nay.

1st quarter we chased and tackled. The rest of the game we just couldn't be bothered.

We haven't got the skills, the speed and the strength to get away with soft footy.

This is the second time we have had a murph injury this year and the second time we have been pumped.

I wonder if morale plummeted because of that.

That's great in a long term lets sit back and analyse sorta way. But I can tell you for fact coaching young teams that getting hammered week in week out it breaks spirit and causes more loss to the sport (AND MOST CERTAINLY THE TEAM) as a whole.

If a coach does not have the cattle, he/she, plugs holes to stem the bleeding, be competitve. Its self preservation for the club because you lose good players by NOT doing this. Its not real estate. Its not buy a shit house in the best street scenario ... ego's are involved. You will not get many players to front up week after week and try to carry a shit team. Humans are humans.
But by the same token, if results are not as horrendous as all get out - and this kind of loss has only happened twice under Bolts, Sunday and against Port last year; see the common threads between the two, both immensely downhill skiing sides, both with bullying midfields - and Bolton continues to teach them and doesn't lose them, there's no issue with continuing with a gameplan without modifying it to stem the tide.

It was only last year the media and supporters were after Goodwin etc
We need to follow the same path as then. Assemble the best amount of young talent we can, do the hard yards and wins will come.

The thing that makes this doubly damning is the fact that fricken Norf - a team I would consider chock full of similar list cloggers/B-graders/journeyman that was predicted to be bottom 4 has somehow completely turned it around in one season and look like being a finals side now with hardly a virtual star on the team.

Which makes me ask again and again - why have we been such a rabble for SO LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!

#noexcuses
We need to continue on with this new rebuild to get out of that 20 year rabble.....Bolton will turn it around buts it’s not going to happen overnight

We cannot underestimate the huge difference that Docherty makes to our team and the defence set up.
The defensive structures are a shadow of what they were from early last year.
Really poor.
I hope the No 1 draft is a real Gun.
Maybe we will get some joy next year. Because there won't be much this year.
We will struggle to win another 2 games.
And we all know how much joy we are giving opposition supporters.
They are all so smug I want to smack them all!!!
Very sad & miserable Blues supporter.

Here's the thing I struggle with. Show of hands; who really, truly, wholeheartedly believed that we were a chance to beat Melbourne? Anyone?

Part of the problem with the Americanising of Australia is their imported obsession with winning at all costs; sure, Aussies love to win, but we also celebrated champions for their courage, their ability, their capacity to fight back. We support the underdog, in almost all situations. In this situation, we're both the underdog and it's our own team; we had negligible chance at best of getting up, and it would've required opposition injuries to key members of their team to deplete their rotations as well as career best games from 10 or so players for us to beat them with the sides that took to the field. So, logic wars with our cultural desire to see the underdog get up, and our desire to win at all costs.

Reactions to losses like this aren't logical. We just got thumped by 100+ points. It isn't an easy pill to swallow. What I don't understand is the 'no excuses' line paraded after such a loss. When you lose that badly, what can be said? They demolished us comprehensively, and to that end there are key areas in which they did so; is it an excuse to name them? Is it an excuse to attempt to examine why such a loss occurred, or how it could've been changed? The desire for hard line responses is another facet of what I call 'masculine bullshit'; makes you feel big, tough, when inside you're feeling small. Doesn't change anything whatsoever; you still support a team that just lost by 100 points. Buck up, be smarter and stronger than that; realise that it's just a game.

I have one more thing to say. To all who agree with me that the club is on the right track, to those trying to argue with others in here - some who get blown in whenever a loss occurs - responding with attacks on the poster is not on. Argue the point with them; beat them with logic, with facts; allow them their venting, their emotion, their fire. Footy's not an emotionless thing.

Over the last month or so, we've gotten harder around here. We're lashing out at those who disagree with us, and I've been as guilty as anyone. If someone says something you disagree with, attack the post; go as hard as you like, but do not attack the poster. You don't touch their arguments at all if you do, and all it does is make them feel like shit. Guess what; we're mostly already there.

And to those who are genuinely here for a bit of a troll, feel free to try. Mods are as iron, and there are more than a few of us who are itching to unleash the harsh side of their tongues.

Does anybody else get super frustrated when we have a free kick in the centre square and instead of sending the ball inside 50, we go backwards 20m, sideways 20m, back the other way 30m, and then fumble and give the ball up in our defensive 50?

Why are we constantly playing the low % option and not trying to get the ball inside 50 and cause a stoppage?
More frustrated that still we have no idea how to organise a decent approach to kicking out after a behind without some semblance of success.

Hearing that some Carlton people are getting concerned. Also hearing from a good sauce that talked to a young player that the group is struggling to understand Bolts and is switching off. Still in the Bolts camp, but concerned.

Was going to ignore this,

I’ve heard completely different, the players love Bolton and are united behind him, they have completely bought in, they want to stick together for success, the club is a good place to be and united (Probably not today after yesterday of course)

Yes it’s tough being a supporter at the moment
