202??? the website says 200cm, i could be wrong :thumbsu:

Anyhow apart from that id expect the following match ups

Waite & Pavlich
Bower & Tarrant
Judd & Crowley
Carrazzo & Farmer
Browne & Bell (possibly)
Fevola & McPharlin
Fisher & Johnson
Simpson & Palmer
Russell & Peake

Blues by 2 points

We are screwed then.

Wiz to kick 8.

If we don't have someone to go with his pace.......Browne, Armfield.....maybe Anderson in for the special job, then he will hurt us as he normally does.

Agree with the eariler comments re Hampson vs Sandilands. Charman jumps into the ruck and crashes.....Sandliands feebly stands under the ball. Hammer should jump over him and not be bullied.

Besides, a Hampson being physically intimidated at a ruck contest will still provide a contest around the ground.

I watched Ackland stand by as Black ran past him......brushing his shoulder, to lay a tackle. Cain knew he was there. Just had to step across and block for his teammate. Couldn't do it.

Forget the hitouts, poor decisions and worse disposal.....he's not actually playing footy.....just wandering around the park looking lost......ANYTHING is better.......shit I'd put Jacobs or Aisake in ahead of Ackland this week.

I know what your saying, but last week he went straight to McGrath, similar type player don't you think. I also hope they bring in Anderson/Armifeld but doubt they will.

McGrath spent a lot of last week running off half back. When up forward McGrath doesn't have the leg speed, moves of Whiz.

I'd be VERY worried about Carrots on him.......more so than Gibbs.....and we all know how that went.

I agree that it would be good to see Anderson or Armfield come in. I think Ando might get the nod as he's played seniors, and has been in the best for the Ants.....not to mention out of contract this year with some decisions to be made.;)

what on earth does bentick need to do for everyone to stop saying for him to be dropped every week? apart from his first game were he had 40% game time, he had averaged 20 poessesions and 10 tackles a game...

Would love for Army to come in and play on Farmer.

Find a new role, or add another string to his bow IMO. He's not quick, question marks over his disposal, and isn't overly good overhead, nor is he super tall.

In Austin
Out Jamison

Hampson was not brought into the team last week because Charman would out monster him, therefore by that logic you would think that he would miss again because we are coming up against Sandilands this week. Would it be a stupid idea to almost concede the ruck contest and play another onballer in the guts. I mean if we are going to play Ackland we would almost be better off.

What about the thought of putting Waite in there. Such desperate measures at desperate times.

Ackland... oh dear

Hampson for Ackland is a must... The Hammer monstered Sandilands over in Africa !!! He was actually out leaping him the ruck...... bring down the Hammer!! :thumbsu:

i have a feeling mcpharlin might be thrown forward this week due to our diminished back stocks.Thats what i would do anyway. maybe johnson to fev

if this happened

pav-setanta
tarrant - bower
mcpharlin - waite

dont like that, rather austin on mcpharlin and waite on pav

If that's the case best make Pavlich Dream Team captain this week, mark him down for 8 if he plays on Setanta. The Setanta experiment should be put to bed, he isn't going to improve anymore and quite simply isn't up to AFL standard in any facet of the game be it skills, reading the play general smarts the works... Just becasue he plays with passion and has a crack doesn't meant he is good enough - bit like that Maxwell for the Pies he has a go but is not good either....

its a win win if Crowley goes to Stevens, takes away the number one tagger to someone by the name of Chris Judd

Looks like Crowley will go to Judd:

Agree that Hampson should come in for Ackland for all the reason already mentioned.

With Austin and Anderson both showing good form in the VFL of late, I'd suggest Austin will come in for Jamison, and Anderson may come in to take the Wiz out of the game (like he did to Eagleton until doing his hammy lasy year). If brought in, would most likely be at the expense of Browne, Wiggins or possibly even Bentick.

Should also be noted that both Hampson and Austin were listed as emergencies for us last week, they should both get a game this week.

I'm also curious about the potential Waite v Pav matchup in light of Pav's apparent victory in their recent match up in the Hall of Fame game. Would this discourage the MC from assigning Pav to Waite or would they be confident that their more intimate understanding of how to coach Jarrad and specifically, lay out his assigment for him, would yield a better result than the Big V coaches managed to achieve from the match-up?

I am probably most worried about Solomon who has been in good form (esp. if Bannister isn't fit for a recall). Out of our tall defensive options (presumably Waite, Bower, Carlos and Austin) I can't see anyone with the body strength to match him.

Key matchup - Waite vs Pavlich. On paper, Waite stacks up pretty well. But he'd better do the job, because he is about our only option. Pavlich is Freo's best player - shut him down, and i can't see Des Headland or Chris Tarrant doing enough to beat us.

Keys for us:
1. Look after the footy. With several defenders and our number 1 ruckman missing, so much is going to depend on our getting midfielders back to fill up space in the backline. If we turn the ball over, we don't get a chance to do that. We'll need to work hard to free up our better ball carrier - Stevens, Judd and Murphy, rather than letting Carazzo, Scotland and co put their team-mates under pressure.
2. Tackling. If freo win the ruck contests, they'll get the ball first, and we have to slow them down and get it back. We tend to play Judd, Stevens and Murphy in the middle; none of them are great lock-down defensive mids. We'll need Carazzo, Bentick, Russell and others doing the hard yards this week if we're going to win.

Keys for Freo - Dominate the ruck contests. Sandilands can moster Ackland through height, and Kreuzer and/or Hampson lack the body strength. If Sandilands plays well, he'll give them first use of the ball at clearances, which makes it tough for us to get numbers behind the ball, which frees up Pavlich... it all starts at the center bounces and clearances.
- Stop Fev. If Fev doesn't kick a bag, we'll struggle to win. That is easier said than done, but by closing up space and forcing contests, Freo can at least make an effort.

Result: Hard to say. Freo are better than their win/loss ratio says, but mentally suspect, even within the course of a game (3 straight losses from winning positions). On paper, they should beat us this week. It'll be a good test of our mental resolve and maturity; the game is there for the taking if we want it, and the chance to go 4-5 and get right back in the hunt means there is plenty to play for. Losing to Brisbane wasn't a cause for concern. Losing a winnable game to a mentally suspect freo team in Melbourne might actually warrant some of the 'disaster' threads we've seen on bigfooty this week. Prediction - Carlton by 30 points, Judd best on ground with Fev kicking 6. Jordan Russell to play his best game for the club, leading to 26 separate threads on the Carlton bigfooty board next week.

Doubt Headland will beat us from teh pie stand on crutches birdbrain - he isn't playing !!!!

imo bentick deserves his spot and is vital as he has a crack and is probably the best tackler in our team. we need him and hadley to go in hard and burst open some packs kouta style

Ackland should be turned into salami and hung up at my nonno's house with the prosciutto...

Ackland should be turned into salami and hung up at my nonno's house with the prosciutto...

Easily recognizable in the deli as the only salami on Zoloft.
