Don’t forget we are in a rebuild. We also look cooked - no energy - atm

Ladhams needs more AFL games. It’s the hardest position to get experience in, being a stand alone ruck. Tim English still gets pumped from time to time. I think every ruckman has had those games in their development. Perhaps more developing ruck games go unnoticed if your midfield is better and faster.

So If Lycett is fit, we play both until two weeks before finals. If Lycett isnt fit, I’d Stick with Ladhams and bring Hayes in.

if Rozee has plantar fasciitis- give him a few weeks off. We need to have our best team ready for finals.

Can’t just blame Ladhams our midfield were really poor, they should know how to rove to a losing ruckman. Someone must be held accountable. I think Rocky might deserve a recall, he is a good experienced stoppage player - good with young rucks.

I think R Gray needs a rocket.

So,

Outs: Westhoff, Bonner, Wines, Rozee, R Gray
Ins: Watts, Garner (McKenzie if fit), Rocky, Bergman (or Williams), Hayes (Lycett)

Closest thing we have to a tall back replacement off the emergencies, to support Ladhams and perhaps a reprieve.

But the disappointing thing is that Westhoff showed barely signs of a player wanting to win his spot back. There's just no way any coaches will ignore that.

Jack Watts is 197 cm and probably could have given more support than Westhoff did. Westy is credited with one hit out last night. Watts wasn't listed as an emergency but probably should have been.

If I made one change this week it would be Watts for Westhoff.

Watts is back playing this week, hopefully goes very well in the trial game... Do we know when that is

I didn't realise Watts was injured. I thought he was fit and played against the Crows in a trial a couple of weeks back.
Had to go back to Vic for family reason and thus 2 weeks of quarantine on returning to SA, not sure when all this happened and when he was back training.

Ebo said on Tripple M was back playing this weekend.

According to the Club, Lycett is still two weeks away, but you cannot trust the injury update page on the Club website.

We cant ruck Ladhams solo V Gawn, we will lose the game from the middle. If Marshall is out (Thumb?) We should play Hayes, Let Hayes do all the centre square work (Far better than Ladhams here) the rest up forward and let Ladhams do the around the ground work.

Agree in part

Trouble is ladhams got smacked at the boundary throw ins as well

I agree - some idiot posted about our wonderful depth a couple of weeks ago. We are a mid table side with mental fragility and lacking a big defender or two.
That idiot was probably me and I stand by it. We have to remember every week, we are not as bad as we seem when we lose (nor as good as we seem when we win).

We get beaten whenever we are soundly beaten in the centre. That’s happened twice this year. Last night was a case of all played badly. I can only think of one player who reached an acceptable standard-DBJ. The bad news is 21 players underperformed. The good news is 21 chances we will be a better team mid week.

We have the depth- Garner, Watts, Rockliff, Bergman, Williams, Mead, Hayes, Drew, Lienert all deserve a shot and hopefully Lycett and McKenzie to come in.

But this thread is quickly becoming meaningless. 50% of selection table decisions from now to round 16 will be based on recovery and fitness- information beyond the scope of this forum.

I'm all for bringing in a second ruck at the expense of Westhoff, just unsure if our forward line would be too top heavy with Dixon, Marshall, Mitch and one of Ladhams/Hayes/Buzza resting. Marshall doesn't really play like a traditional tall so we might be alright there, could also float him across half-back to get him some more touch of the ball. How's Hayes up forward and around the ground?

Garner for Bonner- Bonner is not good enough for this team.
Cox for Rozee- He has consistently performed well at seconds and deserves an opportunity- Connor needs a wake up call
Mckenzie for Westhoff-Hoff was better last night but a statement needs to be made
Lycett for Marshall- Marshall is probably unlucky but we need to see if Lycett and Ladhams can work in the same team- team will have to rotate over next two weeks anyway.
Sidenote- In general I respect how Ken has built this team but I am seriously concerned about how selection is decided upon when players such as Bonner can earn a recall with no form to warrant it. If he or the coaching staff have their 'favourites' then that is sure way to remain a mediocre football club. Port Adelaide Football Club are not historically a club that offers subpar players a free ride. If they genuinely rate Bonner, I am equally concerned about our player judgement and team analysis. Our defensive system is bloody high risk and you can't afford to have players who don't take their turn to put their body on the line.

McKenzie in for Bonner.

Lycett in if he is fit but that's unlikely.

Not really bothered if Rozee plays or not as mid-forward is a "cream on the top" compared to the importance of a ruck and good intercept defenders to our gamestyle.

Maybe Watts in for Hoff too.

Rozee is carrying an injury, give him a rest and get him right. Williams or Woodcock in.

You're all kidding yourselves. Bonner isn't going out with 14 disposals at 92.9% efficiency. Look, I think he's soft as well, but until Burton or Watts are available he's always going to play. Learn to accept it as I have.

Westhoff needs to be dropped. And unless you're willing to drop one of Marshall or Georgiades, you can't play Ladhams and Hayes in the same team, because it kills one of your rotations off the bench...and Melbourne are susceptible to speed. McKenzie has to come back in.

If Rozee has plantar fasciitis, that means he's not going to run. Give him a rest and get him right, because without his run his opponent is always going to exploit his current lack of strength and experience. Either replace him with Bergman to get his speed back, or bring back Rockliff who has the strength/experience to make a difference.

If Boak is going to get tagged, we need another 1st inside/outside mid. I classify Houston as a 1a type. He's a Robin, not a Nightwing. If Boak is getting tagged, swap him with Gray as the deep forward.

I'm still persisting with Farrell, but he's on notice.

OUT: Westhoff, Rozee

IN: McKenzie, Bergman/Rockliff

Rockliff has to come in after that shambles of a display by our inside mids.
Hoff has to be dropped again, and whether its Cannon, Lienert, Garner or Watts or whoever we need that third tall.

Too many blokes had a down game, and while im forgiving of the youngsters, im not forgiving of our elder statesmen who absolutely needed to stand up.

Lycett needs to back in when fit, but if he's not, then we need to look at Hayes, particularly against Gawn
