Bonner is David Luiz

David Luiz is actually pretty good 75% of the time with 25% howlers. Bonner is ordinary all the time. The concept of Bonner is good - the size, speed, the kick etc but hes just not that good.

We need to consider the bulldogs game and rest some players across the two. Dixon is top of my list to look after, as I don't see him backing up after a few short breaks. Give him the dogs game off. Hopefully Lycett is back then.

Meanwhile, give Boak, Rozee and Gray the Melbourne game off. They're looking the sorest already, before the condensed fixture.

With Marshall out, either Hayes or Buzza come in to play with Ladhams. Looking ahead, Buzza may be the better option. He can ruck a fair bit against Gawn, then primarily cover for Dixon forward against the Dogs. A 2 game cameo for list management purposes is essentially what we got him for. Continue to play two rucks (be it Ladhams or Hayes with Lycett) until Marshall is back.

Surely Hayes has to come in if Lycett is still injured and westhoff goes out. Otherwise Buzza. Dixon will be our only second ruck otherwise.

If you look Rozee and Gray's stats in comparison to SPP they're very similar. All averaging approx 13 disposals a game, similar kicks/marks/tackles. If Rozee and Gray are going to come under fire, i seriously do not understand why SPP hasn't yet.

yeah he is as hard and tough as they get but he needs to be more than that.

SPP goal kicking is also deplorable, he has kicked 18.38 in the last 3 seasons. He is so frustrating.

May, Oscar McDonald lever hibberd and Salem will chop off our forward attacks and surround dixon like a moat.

As options we have -

Hayes
westhoff (not my ideal choice by a long shot)
watts if fit could go forward (again not ideal).
Williams the best medium option as he can create havoc.

Hayes is probably the best option as he stretches their defense and whether they rate him or not he will demand one of may , McDonald lever or hibberd (who doesn’t really play key roles and would be outsized) and can play a bit of ruck

Hopefully Lycett is OK and we can give Pistol a few weeks as a forward / 2nd ruck and see if he can hold down that role. He needs to add that fwd string to his bow as i dont think he'll make it as a no.1 ruck.

With Todd’s thumb surgery, it’s now “come on down Sammie Hayes”. Of course there is another option, Jack Watts. Big guys are needed - I appreciated the way the saints used their tall timber in that 4th quarter.
