I’ve got a feeling win this therefore validating playing Rockliff and Wines together permanently (Which I don’t mind playing a side like Melbourne), and then losing games in the next month because our mid is too slow. Rockliff and Wines can work but only depending on who we are versing. Against a side like Melbourne yes I think it can work.

How does Westhoff get dropped for form and confidence, have another low form, low confidence game and then get his spot straight back despite the need for another ruck. Rockliff back in proves that Ken Hinkley remains a "pick your best 22 regardless of how they fit together" coach.

The game plan has its gambles. Our list management takes risks. It's not as black-and-white as I've made it look. We do gamble. I think we don't gamble in selection.

The issue here is that the actual squad list is short. We rarely reach out for our depth. Instead, we prefer to sacrifice structure and to carry on players in poor form. It has been so, at least, since 2017. Hasn't it been?

I have checked Hinkley's record with us. Considering only the first 6 games, it is Top-4 level. After that, from R7 onwards, it goes down to 50%; 50%-ish. Could there be a connection between this and the short list?

Rockliff I can understand, if Lycett isn't ready then a capable ball winner is okay.

But Westhoff I don't even. It goes against basically every principle.

Westhoff originally dropped because he's been crap. Plays his worst game of the season... gets rewarded to being the second option up forward.
