Pretty much what i expected.

Still i want to see the other player Cerra in this case use the correct technique and not go in head first.

Players should be being taught to turn the body by now.
Yea but the bump was also late
Cerra had the ball in his hands wasn't a 50/50
The player deserves protection in that instance

I know that is why i am happy with the 2 weeks fir Durham.

But we can't expect player A (Durham)to look after his opponent every time and have player B (Cerra) completely ignore his own safety at the same time.

It's similar to the Pearce/Byrne-Jones situation - Pearce was reported & initially suspended for 3 weeks because he was running at an aerial ball to mark it while DBJ was running with the flight of the ball and came off second best in the resulting clash

Pearce was successful in his tribunal appearance in that he was contesting the ball & didn't see DBJ until the last moment which looks supported by the footage

Whether or not Durham saw Cerra prior to contact is hard to tell as it's clear Durham is going for the ball and turns his body to protect his head in doing so

What I'd like to see in similar situations to these is that the player in DBJs or Cerra's position is an element of responsibility on their behalf to not put themselves in a vulnerable position - would be good to see players taught to take more ownership of the positions they put themselves in rather than simply playing in a manner that will earn them a few kick type thing

I agree with you.

Looked like the ball was in dispute and they were both approaching it at some pace. If Cerra had turned his body and braced in the way Durham had, the collision would have been a lot less dangerous for both players.

It was a fraction late from Durham so a free kick was there. But I feel like the talk in terms of injury has to be less around penalty/suspension and more about what's proper technique to minimize risks.

They will just drop the ruckman back all night and flood back into d50.

It will sound amazing on paper, but essendon will ensure their defense is protected with incredibly game conceding boring footy designed to prevent damage
they are well coached

Can't agree with that, doesn't appear to reach down for the ball at all. Surprised some are saying Cerra was partly at fault, one player was going for the ball, the other was going for the man.

It's reasonable to expect not to be hit head on when he has the ball though
Durham got this completely wrong

But I agree current techniques aren't good

I'm pretty sure we can work out who enjoyed today's training the most

Wonder if this means we'll see the team just pass it around the 50m arc for 20 seconds or so before we look for someone to be open in the paint on Saturday. ;)

We know Holmes loves a bounce, maybe this gives him a licence to bounce even more often than normal

Can totally see him going for a dribble down the Shane Warne Stand wing...

Wonder what the record is for both total bounces within a match and also most bounces before from collecting the ball until next disposal (that makes sense in my head, but not sure on paper)

Is it still the country game? With entertainment and the farmers market things out the front or have they scrapped that?
Haven’t seen any promo or anything indicating anything about it this year.

Not sure I've posted this yet for this week -
