Did Doc play on the weekend?
He was never really suited to living up North- not enough Ticker, you got him for a bargain though no doubt.
I think Robbo may struggle to make his way back into the side next year due to his poor disposal- plenty of heart though.

Are you lost!

Jeez, Tom Williamson is bricks wrapped around silk. He is now my favourite player to watch and that includes Samo. Just has the perfect combination of pace, grunt and kicking skills. To think he's one of our kids without a rising star. This kid will be elite.

what do you mean by it?

I think he means Doc's heart wasn't in it at BrisVegas.

Going by his pre match interview, I agree. Doc pretty much admitted that although he was excited to get drafted and play for Brisbane, it didn't work out and both he and the club felt that way. Can't blame him though, that club was a shit hole when he got there and it still is but at least they're starting to head in the right direction.

Since he's been here, he has shown a hell of a lot of endeavour and should be future vc, the guy bleeds Navy Blue.

I have no idea how he slid that low in the draft.

I can see how Polson did but not williamson

Bolton mentioned learned readiness. A small thing, but i noticed most vicco clubs struggled in brissy, late in the game.
Its been a cold winter down south this year?
It used to look like heat, and the loss of performance with getting too hot. Can we wear the white based jumper up there?
If Matthews had cooling devices etc back in bears days...it must have assisted even the club that trained in warmer conditions.
Im a sturt fan so the light blue looked fine to me if white is too glary.
NFL teams use cooling fans etc on the bench...
And absolutely, teams we play against that have longer breaks will have higher glycogen restored to muscles etc, immune systems on so on.

The Blues we're struggling from the first bounce, surely that wasn't heat related.

I realise (va the carlton game day game thread) it was a slow start, to a comeback of sorts, to fade out late. Perhaps this was part of the strategy, to run less and be more efficient with the zone and holding back the run.
Just thoughts from the equator here...its hotter than hades...

Seem to say this every week but Charlie Curnow is a seriously special player. Not only is he immensely talented, he has genuine "team lifting" qualities and is shaping as an outstanding on field leader. You get the impression his teammates just want to get the ball in his area, and Charlie does the rest. Awesome athlete, brilliant judge of the ball in flight, terrific mark, super competitive when the ball hits the ground, tackles hard and kicks the ball very very well (there were question marks on his kicking early days but he has really found his feet in that regard).

He and Cripps are the two that have separated themselves as genuine elite talents, these are the two guys we are building around. With Charlie nailing down CHF we simply must get more mids in to help Crippa.

Stoked with Harry's game. 6 marks on debut is a great effort, particularly playing in a team apparently possessed of an agenda that frowns upon delivering the ball favourably to forwards. The Lions key backs are no mugs and he really lit it up in the second quarter marking everything that went his way.

SPS was good and nice to see him hit the scoreboard.

As for the game itself? Sad!
Excellent point on Cripps/Curnow. Charlie has definitely begun to establish himself as (potentially) elite - and whilst you need depth, you also really need a handful of these players to stand up and win finals. Of the young guys, I would also add Docherty to that list - he's a genuine star.

The additional positive for us is that all three have serious on/off-field leadership credentials. They all bring unique strengths (Curnow - oozes confidence and X-factor; Cripps - true leader of men who players follow into battle; and Docherty - ultimate professional), and I expect their diverse styles to forge a really powerful player-led culture.

he played with brand new boots...
Just an observation. The camera was briefly on him when he was getting some medical attention. It looked like the doc was wrapping a bandage around each of his toes. This is what made me think of blisters or some other irritation. New boots? Maybe he hadn't run that far in a footy game before.

I was sitting near the Carlton bench. I remember looking over & seeing him with his boot off getting attention. A few minutes later I looked over & he was going back on so it couldn't have been too serious.

We've just had some commentary from a poster who was on the same flight home as the players saying Harry could hardly walk. Just trying to figure out why.

Sacrifice a 50+ point deficit to half time, then try to overrun them in the second half?
