Thats probably 1 of the easiest plays to defend for a team like Richmond

Yes and no.

I have every confidence we'll cope with it well along the lines you outline, we set up better than anyone for those circumstances, but once the aerial contest goes to ground, luck so often plays an element in what happens next.

Half a dozen or so plays where the spoiled ball lands in the lap of an opposition player who then uses it well, or we get a few 50/50 frees against us trying to shut that player down, or when the ball comes to ground it ends up in an unlikely drop of the ball area they are best placed to capitalise on (or some combinations of all three at different stages) can hugely influence the game.

The brand of fast, direct, corridor footy they're currently playing opens opposition sides up to the possibility that games can be at least partially decided simply by the luck that goes with the fall of the ball. It takes a bit of the control of the game out of our hands and puts it in the hands of blind luck and the bloody umpires.

That's always dangerous to some extent.

It’s taken a long time for the afl community to wake up to this, but finally a good chunk of people are starting to get it. we needed a player like Dusty to show the non believers the way. but there still are conversions to be made.

Tom Mitchell is all about padding up his numbers, that's why he ventures down back so often to get cheap possessions, where dusty stays forward of centre more times than not.
