Cracking debut post, love when a newbie bobs up with controversy, if only they'd stay on contribute after their fishing expidition's were completed ha ha!!! Who are the Sunbury boys lucky to be named and who should've replaced them? Crump would've been compared to Davo from Romsey Id' suggest, and even a bloke like Kruezer who's been going good wouldn't compare to Cariss who must be leading the Bowen Medal at this early point. Unsure where Cali plays, who from the squad would you play him ahead of?

I'm pretty sure I read (or might have heard) that the selectors weren't interested in putting up names of guys who have snubbed the opportunity in the past. Anyone who has been involved in rep programs knows how hard it is, but you have to compare apples with apples in regards to what spot will they play and how they compare to others vying for the same spot.

I wouldnt have thought Crump would have been competing against Davo. Davo is a legitimate full forward. Crump is a mid size forward who plays taller than he is and has strong hand and good goal sense. Probably an ideal forward pocket is a stronger side. There are another 5 spots in the fotward line. Besides isnt that why they pick a squad of 50.

Really tough job for interleague selectors. Need to pick a balanced side which means leaving out good players. Also juggling players that are injured, unavailable or out of form.

Here is my go at the best RDFL side if injuries and unavailability were not a factor. I have seen every side play this year and some teams twice. Have taken into account the past performances of some guys too.

Mainey Gregory Fulton

Tessari Erwin (inj) Blade

Mitchell Austin Foreman

Lynch Tuckey (inj) Farmer

Davidson Nolan Murphy

Carriss Zerafa Sahlberg

Int from- S.Clarke (inj) Welsh Sylvester (unavailable) Petran (inj) Wright Dawson (inj) McNaughton P.Robertson Ryan

* obviously Hall plays if available

Hey Doona2

Is John Taylor coming back to Broadford, pretty sure he is the bloke that kicked quite a few goals under your tutelage didn't he?

Too late for that Im afraid, they needed a plan B last year for when Baz didn't play and obviously with massive doubt over if he'll run out at all in 2014 I would be putting the money Barry made the club in 2013 away for another time.

But to answer your question, yeh Tayls played the 3 years I was at home and from memory kicked 97, about 50 and about 30 from 44-45 games across that time, could roll thru the middle and be a quite a handy stoppage player too. He lives locally now (will coach Tallarook in the cricket) having met his partner thru coming to club. Bloody rapt how it's all turned out for him as we were pretty close to going to Rushworth in 2007.
Johnny did train this week, but I'd say they got on the gas Satdy night after the game and just lodged one for when the two's are short come June/July.

Thought Davo was full forward?

On a serious note, I'd like to extend my sympathies to the family of Harley Hammond who passed away earlier this week.

It may not be of interest to about 99% of you on here, but Harley was one of the biggest contributors to local sport in Broadford. Obviously Central Park was later named in his honour, but he not only served footy, but cricket, the athletics club (the old Broadford Gift) plus many others. On top of that he was a wonderful community person, I know how thankful I am of the work he and his committee did at the local cemetary since it became an integral part of my life about 20 years ago.

He was a past senior executive member of the Riddell DFL during the club's first stint (1977-1984) having also previously served in similar roles in the old Waranga North East FL, Heathcote DFL as well as coaching some 3rds sides in his day.

Broadford is poorer for having lost a true gentleman, but those who got to meet or serve under Harley are much richer for the opportunity.

Anyone that knows me well enough, understands my allegiance to Broadford's past history and the first things young dudes were taught back in the 80's was who people like Harley etc. were and what they had done. I highly doubt many young people these days even take the time to look at photo's, honuor boards or even acknowledge past icon's ..... they're more worried about getting their envelope and pi$$ing off.

It's a crying shame as we are only holding the keys of our clubs until the next mob roll in, but sadly people who give almost their lifelong service to club's and communites are minority these days.

Harley Hammond will be farewelled this coming Monday, and if there was any fight in the current group of Broadford footballers from Nagambie Rock Oval they will step up tomorrow and honour the great man in the fashion he deserves.

Does anyone have the scores from Centrals Vs Wallan?
Live app has Centrals one point ahead.

Also 50+ scoring shots for Romsey, have they put a roof on the joint now too? Thought it was wet all round the joint today ...... frightening!!!

That was a demolition, without a doubt..

Yeah the live scoring is only the half time score for that game... Rest of the games up to date.

No roof Donna, but a great team effort after a slow first quarter. Davo 6 goals 7, big Benny 5 or 6 of his own. Midfield unstoppable and backline great. Biggest problem is how to fit Dawson, Erwin, Saad and Ryan into the team.
Good win for Wallan and Rockbank...and Rupo are flying also. Broadford....gone!!

will wallan be chance today after the rain overnight? two in a row would be good and i hope jutsin coliss proves the Inter League selectors wrong with a big game.

obviously a real chance, well done to Frosty and the boys, I must admit I didn't think they would winand act5ually sit 3rd or 4th tonight.

Surely Tuckey didn't play again for Diggers, seems a lot think they'll battle against the big boys without him. Rupo are in good form, the list has really thickened up in 12 months and keep dishing this up and they'd have to be a threat even this year.

Seems that the race for 6th spot is now out of 4 clubs ..... Wallan, Centrals, Rockbank and Lancefield.

Kilmore aren't on the bottom either ...... :D

Really has been an interesting round of results so far.. Opens things up again with a huge game tomorrow.. But Mongrel will be pretty damn happy with how his boys are travelling I would suggest, now the team to beat.

Can anybody advise time and location for Harley on Monday please, a couple of people who were involved with Broadford's previous involvement from Diggers would like to pay their respects.
A lot of people may not realise that Diggers lost to Broadford in our first Grand Final appearance and a couple of us also worked with him on the RDFL Board.
