Would have been a completely different game without Barry as diggers had 37 scoring shots compared to about 15

Diggers just much much more polished

Apart from their finishing, but agree with this..

Interested to see Skip behind the fence in the last quarter and didn't seem to be coaching, was there anything in it.

Enjoy to listening to Skip as a coach, think his message is fantastic.. Hopefully he can continue to help the young blokes grow and the kids take in his instruction, they would get a lot out of it.

If you look at the draw Omni it cant end up with those points !Romsey would have to win every game to finish on 68 points they still have to play Rupertswood -Riddell-Diggers Rest and obviously Riddell cant finish on 68 points.....Diggers and Riddell have the best draw to come with both only having to play Romsey and Rupertswood from the top 4 in the run home ...Rupertswood have to play 5 of the top 6 sides ..Diggers could easily finish top 2 with Tuckey to come back look at how many scoring shots they are having over the past few weeks ( Without Tuckey)!!!

Double correction sides get 4 points for a bye so my apologies Omni I haven't seen this in other Leagues ... So technically Romsey can finish on 68 points and so can Riddell .....Maybe I should stick to my posts at 5am when the brain as at full capacity !!! So Omni you don't see Broadford winning a game at all this year??

There are 10 rounds left & you get 4pts for a bye as well. Romsey are currently on 32pts, I see them winning 8 plus a bye means 9 x 4pts = 36pts........ + 32pts = 68pts......If I'm not mistaken pal !!!
Riddell on the other hand are currently on 28pts & should go through the remaining H&A season without dropping another game = 9 wins & a bye = 40pts...... + 28pts = 68pts !!!........................Simple enough for you now ???

Steve boyall was extremely good for broadford.... Very skilful clean player
Totally agree.. one of the best individual performances by a player that I've seen this season.. he single handedly kept them in the game and had a better influence than the big man up forward.. if only Broadford got up.. it would've thrown the competition into a spin..
On that note, the Diggers Rest committee put on an amazing day.. it's one of the more enjoyable days of football I've enjoyed and the club deserve all the success that they get off the field.. hats off to Painey and the team, a magnificent day and all their hard work was rewarded :) Anyone who was there would've loved being part of the excitement on a day with a finals like atmosphere :)

todays local paper says the briadford coach had a suspension so chairmen of selectors and asistant coach were incharge

Boyall's been one of the key pick ups for Broadford, along with Svarc, Vianni and Hately before he went home. I reckon Sunday's effort may see them turn their fortunes around looking at their next block of games ..... Wallan, Woodend, Macedon, Kilmore before a bye. Wonder if they're sitting on 16 points (3 wins and a bye) after the next month if the talk of the KDFL will subside?

Another huge week of games ahead.. This middle stretch of the season has a real ladder shaping feel about it.

Sunbury Kangaroos (5th, 4-3) Vs Diggers Rest (4th, 5-2)
This is a massive clash for both of these sides, I have seen many a mention about the "battle for 3rd" with these two sides, but that is leaving out a Rupertswood side that is well and truly in the mix for that spot. The reality of this contest is, that if the Kangaroos lose this game, then not only will it make it very hard to finish the season in 3rd spot, but it puts them back in the pack in regards to finals position.
The Kangaroos form has been patchy, a huge win a couple of weeks ago against Broadford was followed up with a poor result against the Redbacks, with a potentially difficult draw in the next 3 weeks (Lancefield, Wallan and Melton Centrals) they desperately need to find some form and team orientated football in order to put themselves back on track, and it needs to happen fast.
The Burras just got over Broadford last week, but in reality, they dominated the contest, but failed to capitilise on scoring opportunities (anyone else noticed that the kicking for goal this year has been significantly poorer since the introduction of Sherrins). But their win against Riddell a couple of weeks ago was huge for the context of their season. Lenny Clark played at Full Back last week on Hall, but I don't think we will see that again, with a move back into the ruck to partner with Matty Krul a certainty, the form of those 2 has been crucial in the Burras finding form.
This game could be a cracker, but the Kangaroos need to find their link up and fluency early to compete, otherwise the Burras could break them open, with several scoring options now despite missing Brent Tuckey, if the Burras get too much free ball through the middle of the ground, the Kangaroos will struggle to contain them, on the other hand, if the Kangaroos can rediscover their drive from the half back area and their midfielders can find the ability to work both ways, they will trouble the Burras on the counter attack. Lots of questions to be answered in this contest.
Diggers Rest by 25 points.

Broadford (13th, 0-8) Vs Wallan (9th, 3-4)

A huge game for the Magpies in the context of their season, a loss could see them drop out of the race for the top 6, while it's a huge game in the context of the season for Broadford, they have been very competitive since the loss to Sunbury and had their chances last week against the Burra, this home game could be a chance for their first win of the season.
The Magpies have been travelling quietly under the radar to date, sitting only 1 game outside the top 6 and still in the mix, they need to pick up this win to ensure they have confidence going into the games against Diggers Rest and Sunbury in the next couple of weeks, much has been said about the "ease" of their draw on the run home, but the Magpies still have to win these types of games in order to make the finals, something they couldn't manage against the Rams a couple of weeks ago.
Broadford have been competitive, but there is no escaping the fact that they have failed to win a game after promising so much over the off season, the questions have been asked at times, and vaguely answered, but the fact is, talk is only going to get a side so far, it is time they started to respond on the field, with discipline and a confident mindset, the Roos best football is good enough to match it with anyone, but we just don't see enough of it.
Both sides will go into this game desperate for the result though, Wallan will be happy to get in and get out with the points, this presents the Roos with an opportunity, as it is always a mindset that allows a side to creep under your guard, but can the Roos get the job done?
Wallan by 15 points.

Rockbank (7th, 4-3) vs Macedon (11th, 2-5)
Another ladder shaper is set to take place at Ian Cowie Reserve with the Rams hosting the Cats. The Rams have been in great form since Anzac Day, dropping only one game to Diggers Rest, while the Cats have been slowly improving with each outing, although they would no doubt have expected more by now.
The Rams best has been devastating but they have one issue still to be resolved, that is ensuring that they take the opportunities when they are presented to them, I watched the game against Wallan online from a couple of weeks ago, and if it wasn't for terrible kicking at goal, the Rams could have won the game by 5 or 6 goals or possibly more, they need to make sure that these opportunities are put away as they come up against top opposition as missed opportunities will always be punished by strong opposition.
The Cats have had a rough year, but can never be underestimated, they still have one of the best players in the competition running around in the midfield, which he has displayed again in the interleague game this year and then in the following rounds, James Wright is as dangerous a midfielder as is running around, his ability to kick goals is his strongest bow. He will play a big role for the Cats in this match up.
The games against these two last season were both tough slogs in tough weather and it looks like a bit more rain tomorrow might see another one of these arm wrestle type games, it will be the side that makes the most of their opportunities that will get the result.
Rockbank by 10 points.

Lancefield (6th, 4-3) Vs Romsey (1st, 7-0)
The Tigers are leading the pack at the moment in the "race for 6th" but only just and this week they face a side that is in simply devastating form, the Redbacks are flying, their forward line has too many options, their midfield is breaking the lines and the back six is creating drive, it's hard to see a weak link in the line up at the moment.
The Tigers will need to lock down the free wheeling ball movement through the middle of the ground, so much work goes into the Redbacks dangerous forwards that everyone forgets just how dangerous the midfield is, if Chris Petroro, Brad Mitchell, Shaun Austin, Dermott Smythe etc continue to get free reign when using the ball through the middle of the ground, there will be absolutely no way to stop Davo, Lobb, Farmer, Way etc up forward and the drive from Streeter, Tessari, Storey etc will have too many options to use the football through. The Tigers need to stop the ball movement in it's tracks, not allowing the Redbacks to play on and making them kick over the mark, but it will take the discipline of playing an opponent, one loose cog and it will all break down.
The Tigers have some ammunition of their own, but don't have the depth of the Redbacks across the lines, they will need to use the ball cleverly to keep themselves in the contest and then use the momentum when they have it, which they tend to get at their home ground better than most.
I expect the Tigers to go with the Redbacks early, but the weight of the Redbacks talent will overwhelm them.
Romsey by 60 points

Riddell (2nd, 6-1) Vs Woodend/Hesket (10th, 2-5)
The Bombers are coming off a weeks rest (they defeated Wallan in their Round 8 game between Round 1 & 2) after their first loss of the season against Diggers Rest, the Hawks are continuing to improve under the leadership of Glenn Hopkins who has a knack of getting the most out of his young players.
This is a big ask for the Hawks though, facing a Riddell side coming off a disappointing loss, at home, the Hawks will face a side out to reestablish themselves as the bench mark.
The young Hawks always give a good account of themselves though and this week will be no different, there is no doubt that the Bombers will know they have played a game, no matter what the final scoreboard says.
Too much depth of talent though will be far too overwhelming for the Hawks.
Riddell by 60 points

Rupertswood (3rd, 6-2) Vs Kilmore (12th, 0-7)

Rupo are looking to put a bit of a gap in the race for 3rd and 4th and have a great opportunity here to do so. The Sharks have been in excellent form, dropping only 2 games for the year so far, both close losses to potential top 3 opponents. The Blues have had a tough start to the year again, still yet to pick up a win, they don't seem to have moved far from their finish last season, although Crump is an obvious success for the Blues, they continue to wait for the 2nd forward option to become a more dangerous opposition for prospective opponents.
This will be a tough game for the travelling Blues, facing the Sharks at the Shark Tank isn't going to be a comfortable assignment for any team, Rupo are in great form and should comfortably account for the Blues.
