Now Romsey has got the grand final back, surely the football and cricket clubs could do something to officially recognise the legacy of the McIntyre family, which has contributed so much to Romsey Park.

The McIntyre family goes back several generations, and includes top footballer and cricketer Doug and his sons Rob and Peter, with the latter playing Test cricket for Australia.

Rob has spent thousands of hours of unpaid work on the facilities and surface at Romsey over the years. There would be very few arguments if it was renamed McIntyre Park or McIntyre Oval.

The GDCA's top competition is called McIntyre, while the RDFL recognises the grand final's best player with the Doug McIntyre Medal. Both Rob and Doug are life members of Romsey FC and Romsey CC. It would be nice if there was some public recognition of their input to sport in the town.
"Helmers Cauldron" has a good ring to it.

I think Romsey by how much . Now they have the grand final at home.
It was always romsey by how much no team can compete with there list (so agree a loss on grand final day would be devastating )
Can they afford to back it up will be the question asked

It already has a name Matt, this was a naming rights deal/sponsorship secured for the RSA by it's President, Rob McIntyre 20140815_144948.jpg

Doug would be rolling in his grave. You can still have a non-commercial name. For example, Dower Park in Kangaroo Flat was called Beck Legal Oval in footy season.

I agree, maybe you should start a petition and get some of those cricketers to push it along, they all just seem to stand around not doing much on a Saturday. (Only serious)

Heard on the grapevine this week that the Broadford application/move was rejected by the KDFL

Got no idea norman generally get a bit of info at work from a member, parent or two but not much being said (out aloud anyway).

That said I'm half thinking of dropping in for a squiz there tomorrow just in case it's the last time the Roos compete in the RDFL :(

Another silly comment!! How about we all finish the home and away first, then start the finals campaign. Then, after 4 weeks of finals and seeing who comes out on top (Diggers, Romsey etc etc), everyone can have a little break.....then start working towards a 2015 campaign. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, when there is so much footy to be played in 2014.

Word out if Riddell is a bush fire has been lit and about to roll into finals. This season may be far from over. Ruffell kicked 7 in the last to win the goal kicking by 1 and Petran was fantastic. Just the challenge Helmers will love.

It's ok Wild Bill....apparently Rockbank CFA are moving to have it out within the next 7 days!!
