Lancefield will find it tough. Read on the rdfl website a report from Yeendy they are trying to get them up and running again.
Think comparsion to the AFL are a waste of time.

So what do you think we should do???
Let the strong sides stay strong and leave the others to die?

The comparison was mentioned only cos the AFL are the top league and they cant get a fair comp.
There was/is a meeting this week regarding those 2 teams and getting them up again next year. Romsey were in the same boat at the start of the season. 2 weeks from the start we had 12 u18 kids!

I don't think the system will come into play next year. The bloke who gave the $$ to Marby Park also gave the $$ to Greenvale before them. Think Greenvale won the divi 1 flag last year. Took hard work by the committee to find $$ elsewhere.

No point arguing with the haves they don't get it
Look at marby park had access to lots $$$
Now fighting off relegation
Because of all the imports not there any more
And some clubs just can't find the $$$ required now
It's a fact
You don't have any idea, the same people were at Greenvale the difference being Greenvale put a business plan in place & the committe got off their arses, Marby need to do the same. I tried to get a kid to Coburg in February, he had already been paid 15k up front for this season, the team competes in the Amatures, they don't pay do they?

Norman 18 and slyone why do you think we should have local footy clubs?????

We have local footy clubs for locals to play the game, and for the town to have an interest if they like. Rupo seem like the only team to have a near full local 22 players..and good on them. All the other clubs need players to come from out of town to fill their lists. It comes down to getting the right mix of player to help the team move forward and be as successful as you can. Lets be honest...no one is 'competing' to lose.
Atm, there are great mateships at the club, and the club is in a very positive position. Other clubs that have been there this year would agree.

No you know exactly why they left, don't make up stories your starting to sound like a 16 year old

I heard one of them left because his girls friend plays netball at broadly, don't know who the other is.

I don't make up stories.
Why don't you answer they question WHY DO LOCAl FOOTBLL CLUBS EXSIST?

We have local footy clubs for locals to play the game. Of the 2 that left us last year, the older one moved to Romsey with his family only a couple of years ago and not sure he actually played alot of jnr footy for us. The younger of the 2 left romsey, went to Macedon, then to Gisborne, before coming back last for a few games.

Why are you guys so worried about these guys in past posts where called reserve players and wouldn't get a game

Gee some people on this thread have short memories. It wasn't that long ago when opposition players were getting changed in a tin shed at Romsey that was on a lean and had showers that struggled to maintain hot water for three games of footy.

Romsey hasn't always been a powerhouse, neither has the Sunbury Kangaroos (nee Rovers), or Riddell, for that matter. I'm not for or against a points system, because I haven't done enough research into what it might entail, but I don't think its about curbing the stronger clubs' influence.

I think its about getting back to a reasonably level playing field. The good clubs will still do well because they are good clubs. If there was a system that rewarded clubs for having local players, Romsey should still do OK. Its current side would look completely different, but it wouldn't drop out of the top three.

Crowds will still come to games if their side is winning and there should be more spectators if the games feature more local players.

Rupertswood Footy Club are having a past players day on 12th July. Pretty sure we have contacted most past players via social media etc and this has been advertised on our website for the last a month but thought I'd chuck it up on here just in case there was any that we might have missed. All past players and officials are welcome to attend the past players marquee for a free BBQ.

Any scores from woodend or Lancefield?
Great six point win by the Tigers today at Oniongrass Arena, although there are rumours the groundsman watered the oval on Friday night to make the surface more slippery than usual. The Tiger hierarchy might have to consult with One Eyed Blue to ascertain what variety of grass they should sew to bring it up to standard. Tevita Fonua was sensational at the stoppages and a gutsy effort, with neither Chris Collins or Tony Fulton taking to the ground in the second half.

What did TUMBLEWEED TOWN kick 4 goals on that great surface. Down the road at the town with power and water the Redbacks manage to kick over 20 goals, say no more.

Blueboy I have spoken to Mocca and he suggested that you sew potatoe grass on it.

Thanks One Eyed Blue. I knew deep down you secretly had a soft spot for your hick cousins up the road. I'll let them know to start ripping up the onion grass in favour of the potato grass, but with some of the high priced recruits you have at the Redbacks, I'm guessing you must be growing a more lucrative type of grass to pay them.

Lancefields win over the kangaroos has thrown the race wide open again for the second division cup.
Rockbank would be favourite at this stage. Percentage could well be the deciding factor.
Kangaroos need to find some consistency or they may slide out the top six.
Wallan have made it hard for themselves dropping the game to broadford last week, they still have a good chance but they to need to be more consistent.

Rockbank is also having their past players day on the 12th of July. The games that will be taking place will be against Lancefield. A game which will have a significant impact on the make up of the top 6 for this year. All former players and administrators are encouraged to come down from 12 to enjoy the day. More information can be obtained by calling Matt Embling (Buddha) on 0401 149 155. Go Rams !
