with the money sunbury rovers are throwing around this year they must be favourites to win the premiership . i have always said there is no glory in buying flags
Wow... Another intellectual giant...

Yeah, you're right my friend, the Kangaroos have a $700,000 budget for this year.. We haven't quite spent it all yet, still waiting to talk to you about coming across, so left some room in the budget..

Let me guess, you are the one that wasn't good enough to keep up with James Climas old man when playing football yeah????

I couldn't say Van. Do you have any suggestions as to who (that is playing now) could possibly be named?

I think it would be hard to have picked Lee James at FF in front of Michael Werner. Possibly Jamie Cuffe in the ruck. As for players playing today, I can't think of any. Maybe the latest to have played could have been Mark Strack.

Sorry pal, Who are Sunbury Rovers? go back to the 90s.
Then, as you move into the next century, show some respect and acknowledge what the club has done over the past 5 or so years to change the image of the club. As for the dollars give us a figure that you have been told. This interests me.

i understand the work that has been put in recently but i will find it hard to ever respect this club after the way they have conducted themselves in the past (commitee-players -supporters)as for the money a figure wasnt quoted but this person said he was shocked at some of the money being "handed out" i couldnt give a rats clacker about Sunbury kangaroos im just worried about local footy as a whole like harry wilson said we have seen whats happened to riddell and lancefield in the past .

Fair enough, thats your opinion, but, next time you see the Roos look at the committee - players - supporters. you will probably only identify a small handful from the past. The club now conduct themselves very well.
Dont worry about what has happened with other clubs the roos are holding their own and i will guarantee this will not be the case, the player budget is far from high enough to affect the running of the club.

Some HUGE and very interesting results to come from today's matches:

Riddell defeats Sunbury Kangaroos by 113 points!

Leigh McInerney sent off for the match in the first term I believe for calling an umpire a cheat! Mark McInerney didn't play due to hamstring tightness and Dean Helmers out with the flu. But I can't believe Dummy wasn't put on the ground till midway through the second quarter!

Woodend-Hesket smash Romsey in the centre and go on to win by 10 goals, despite Salpy and Dowling kicking a couple between them.

Diggers Rest get over the line against Lancefield. Payney is a disgrace. Too fat and can't buy a kick. Diggers discipline sloppy. Tigers played okay. Sims carried the Burra yet again. Best for Lancefield were Tim Collins, Scott Smithwick, Nathan Milner, Sam Graham and Chris Collins. Ruane, Lefty and Heritage were good for Diggers.

Kilmore smashed Rockbank by 97 points. Not sure of any details.

No result come to hand of the Macedon v Melton Central match either.

"...change the image of the club."

Wouldn't say the "image" has changed much at all. Whenever anyone thinks of Sunbury they shake their heads.

This may be true Cobber but do you not agree that the club is taking the right steps to gain back respect. After the amount of years the club has had and deserved its bad name, the people involved are doing all they can. Which church i mean club do you follow. I am sure there would be no skeletons in there closet...

I believe Humble in defeat is the words you use in situations like this! Simple as Riddell came to play and we didn't! Its black and white in picture for those that need a picture! Riddell are a damm good side!! They would have beaten anyone today, and sorry to say that killed us everywhere, it's a learning curve! Arrogance you may say is one thing but to be beaten by a side that is graceful and so powerful in victory is another!

Now let's here the spray's, nothing i haven't already heard already please gentlemen!

Spot on they were awsome, if there is a positive to be gained out of the game for the Kangas its that surely Riddell could'nt play that well again this season......................................... could they ?

The sense that riddell had around the ground was ' do not stop drilling them, every goal is a dagger in their heart', the attitude was still there right up until the final siren.... it was an absolute spanking, the roos were beaten Mentally,Physically and at their own game early and spent 3 1/2 quarters looking for answers which is how u dont beat a top-side contender. Its fine to go with them, but taking the game by the horns and controlling it is a different mindframe, the roos did not look like they wanted to control the game at any stage but to just chase and be happy with being competetive....when a team peaks as high as riddell did today, will/can they only get better from here? personally i would Expect the Bomber Powerhouse to give the next 3-4 sides an absolute smashing...Then slowly ease the pedal off as the season closes. Its just what happens in %90 of top rated football sides,local/afl/whatever ... its not just riddell, its any side... They hit a peak, get slapped around with a wet towel, re-group, and start again. The roos definatley will re-group,they are a great side and great sides regroup quickly, adress problems, learn their lessons and improve. They are surely not 100+ points worse than riddell, the bombers just played with extreme intensity with purpose and think it was actually a good time for the roos to cop a slogging as they will be ready to peak once again come finals time when they regroup after 1-2 weeks.A great display by the bombers today though showing just what it takes to win a premiership.....

Just worried about the local footy, very noble indeed howzat. Sounds to me like you have a little gripe with the kangas and have just rolled out that old chestnut to hide behind. You would be reasonably happy with todays result. Massive win by the bombers. Interesting call from Harry Wilson in regards to the coin that the tigers have thrown around, wouldn't mind getting Joeblows take on that. Riddell sitting out has been well documented over the years but I have known a few of the Lancefield boys and was under the impression that they sat out 1999 due to lack of numbers and lack of numbers only. You sound reasonably confident that wasn't the case Harry. Who are these Lancefield parasites you talk about?
What your take on this Pickles, your a Lancefield fella?

Learnining curve; most people on this thread thought Riddell were the real deal, Kangas and Woodend close second no disrespect to these clubs, James Petren a gun I told you earlier he would become one of the prominent forwards disregard at your own peril.

You are the disgrace mate. RDFL version of Caroline Wilson except she knows more about the game. One of the players that you listed as Diggers best played less than half a quarter! Astute observation their champ. Who do you think you are to be calling someone a disgrace? Sims has been playing hurt most of the year. Not sure how you would come to the conclusion that he is carrying Diggers from the few times you have seen Diggers.

I know I'm ugly but I didn't think I'm "Carro" ugly.

I'll say this now. This is my opinion loud and clear. Diggers Rest are THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT of the year. After blitzing in 2006, with a very similar side, they have become a shambles. I liked the way the Burra played yesterday, they moved the ball quickly and made an effort to get the ball into their forwards. But the disposal was very ordinary. Lancefield players such as Tim Collins and Stuey Stevenson will lap that shit up all day.

Now, I believe Diggers Rest can bounce back, but there seems to be a real lack of intent from the playing group. They lack the killer instinct. When I said Simsy was carrying the Burra, I meant that he seemed to be the only passionate bastard out there! Ruane was excellent on the weekend and I know he hurts when they lose, but how many others do you see hunched over after a game because they gave it 110% and couldn't get their side over the line ... not enough.

If I was playing at Diggers Rest and Hopkins was my coach, I would know the game plan inside out, but sometimes you need some bloody motivation! Hopkins is a good coach, but not a great coach. However, everyone does things differently.

Saturday's game is huge for both Sunbury Kangaroos and Diggers Rest. Its the match that no one can afford to lose. At Diggers, the Burra are every chance. However, they would want to be a bit more spritely this weekend if they are to defeat what is sure to be a very angry Roos' outfit. The Kangaroos players will be embarassed by their efforts in the Riddell game, and they will want to make an impression the the Burra like no other.

PS> My apologies about Lefty. I obviously noticed him when he was on the ground.

Lancefield would pay the second or third least amount of money on players in this competition.

Players getting paid would probably, but not definitely be:

Scott Smithwick, Chris Collins (playing coach), Adrian Perry and Chris Kakoschke.

I don't believe Simon Choate would be reeling in any coin. Loves the club too much.

Anyone who doubted the Riddell juggernaut.. Bow to the best on one knee.. Riddell are a better side this year than they have been for the past 3 seasons.
The balance through the midfield, the multiple options up forward, the steady and united backline. Just superb.

The Bombers came to play, the Roos didn't.. We were flat and unwilling to work as hard as the Riddell guys.
James Petran had the ball on a string, Ryan Leitch was outstanding, Jason Allen marshalled the backline, Bellville had 30 plus, most concerning for opposition is that Waddsy started to get touch as well.

Good luck Kilmore, you are gonna need it....

That is all alright you are welcome to an opinion. My issue is with poorly researched opinions and personal insults. If your going to make big statements make sure you have the facts.
