Here's one for the powers that be............Given that we still have plenty of time till the start of the season proper lets fix that archaic "Boys Club" filled with geriatric Has Beens / Wanna Bees / Never Was's, that we refere to loosely as the R.D.F.L. Tribunal ! Surely an organisation that gets it so horribly wrong in a high profile case such as the A.J. one, where the penalty was cut from 4 years to 15 games (effectivly 1/5th) demonstrated that it is totally out of touch with what is expected of them.

Also what about the process, tribunal member/s witness the game then sit on the case to adjudicate, where's the objectivity there ? That would be like a judge witnessing a crime, then sitting on the case..........Good luck !

It's time to sift the wheat from the charf, Clean out time !

Lets use the G.D.C.A. model say, each club nominates one respected person and that person would then, when selected sit on a Three Member tribunal to hear each case. Lets face it what with fixed penalties they would'nt be needed all that often anyway, but at least they would be locally connected to the clubs and be contemporary (a feature which is not 100% the case at the moment to say the least ! ) and have the best interest of the clubs & the league at heart.

And this is the biggie............ be able to make impatial & objective determinations metering out appropriate and just penalties without trying to grandstand or make an example of some poor bastard, and not making the clubs or league look a laughing stock along the way !

Some people need the job more than the job needs them !

Time for a change ?

or

To hard basket ?

Neil Sharpe got a job with Football Victoria Development Manager - Western Region.

He stays with RDFL until 22/1/07.

Round 1 starts late, April 21, maybe later depending on state of the grounds. (drought)

I have heard that but yet to sign!

Just wondering if any clubs are spending pre season trying to bulk up their younger players' ie 18 - 22 year olds that played seniors last year! I know couple of the Roos boys have to develop the younger players and encourage them to stick round!

if u want any assistance in bulking up true blue, just let me know. u can have the kilos i dont want.but if u want my advice, the game is getting quicker every year and from recent experience i can tell u that it is very hard lugging extra kilos around the ground all day.stick with my 2oo7 attitude.get lean and run all day brother.

Welcome back champ !!!!

Agree totaly we need someone to shake it up and I hope you have started the heads rolling .

Keep up the good work.

If true, thats a massive blow for the league. Not sure who can fill his shoes.

If it gets confirmed, at least he has left an established path for his successor to follow. Hope it isn't true Sharpey, I know you'll read this!
Yep, best of luck to Neill, he has been the catalyst behind the RDFL's current strong position and will be a loss for us but a great gain for the Western Jets.. Hopefully we will see you around some games now and then Sharpie.... All the best...

Believe that there has been an overhaul of the tribunal system with set max penalties that can be awarded rather than free haul decisions... Etc..

anyone know what this bloke named Nick Doddie (or something like that) is like, i hear he has signed at Kyneton?

Nick Dodd played some games at Lancefield last year originally from Strathmore not sure what he did there. Playing cricket and living at Macedon now, not sure if deal finalised yet at Kyneton, Macedon are having a crack at him and the Belcher's are trying to get him to Gisborne.

poor bloke you must of been on the end of a few punches or whatever, and seen too many guilty party's get off.:D

You really are an intellectual giant arent you ? Ever heard of the phrase " Innocent until proven guilty " ? So how then by definition can a party be guilty if they get off, Einstein ? Purhaps with your pre-conceived notion of justice, level of credability & common sense, you would be an ideal candidate for a gig with our current esteemed tribunal members, Yes ?

And no I have never been on the receiving end from a report, ever.

Obviously this subject was just way to deep for you to discuss rationally !

Come on mate you can do better than that, here we have a bunch of guys making decissions that can affect players, clubs, league & ultimately us the viewing public that is just so out of touch.

There is the issue of these blokes not being connected to any of our clubs !

I know some might say that is a good thing what with being independant and all, but.............. Riddle me this big fella ? ............ B.F.L. got a big tribunal case on tomorrow night & they want you to Chair it, and you do, and you nail the guy for 4 years (he was one bad dude, swore at an umpire & had dirty boots ! ) tell me this, are you really going to give a stuff about the ramifications that that decision may bring ? Not me ! And who would blame us, we dont feel any sentiment towards that league, why would we ? Our passion is for the R.D.F.L. , we go rain hail shine and cheer on our teams, cause we care. Did'nt see to many of our tribunal members doing that this year !

I know a few of these guys pal & its worrying !

Do we wait for another doosie of a mistake ?

Thoughts ?

Agree totally OMNI.. I know that this was one of the concerns of the panel that overseen the review of the tribunal.

Im not sure that they went this far into it though to change members of the sitting tribunal, but it is a fair point you make about the lack of connection to the league and therefore no impact on the consequence of sentences, maybe its something that the new GM could look into, that of a sitting member from each club... I think that the max sentencing that will be introduced is a good first step though, it at least creates accountability for a sentence.

would have 2 agree with a lot of your comments about the past tribunal system omni.i have seen first hand what it is like 2 be guilty b4 i even entered the room.mind u a lot of the times i may have been guilty, however the severity of the penalties were always way over the top,and appeared 2 already be pre-determined.but the past is the past.
lets just hope the aaron james saga will be the wake up call the panel system required.im sure it will improve this year coz it couldnt get any worse
