Round 2

Lancefield Vs Kilmore
The Tigers got thier season off to a good start last week with a big win over league whipping boys Rockbank. As usual the Tigers stars were skipper Choate and Shewan. Scott Smithwick will provide a strong presence up forward this year for the Tigers and kicked 4 last week in his first game, losing Chris Collins will hurt the Tiges badly though and they may struggle to find someone to cover that loss.
The Blues showed some good signs in thier first up loss to reigning premier Riddell and will look to show how much they have improved with a strong showing against Lancefield this week, Kemp, Robertson and other new players up forward have boosted the Kilmore stocks and they will be looking to make a statement.

The Tigers were always going to find this tough and with the loss of Collins will find it even tougher. Kilmore to win by 55 points.

Melton Central Vs Rockbank
Centrals showed a bit last week against Romsey but lacked consistency through the game. Recruit Kane Bullen is a fantastic pickup for Centrals and they will look to put in a strong showing this week for their first win.
The Rams started the season ok and have showed that they will improve this year and be more competitive, still keep an eye on Luke Walker as he is a talent and can carry the Rams around the ground. While this game has a history and a rivalry and both sides will lift, Centrals will be much too strong for the Rams and win it by 50pts.

Macedon FC Vs Sunbury Kangaroos
The Cats will be looking to bounce back after a big loss to the rampant Hawks last week, the Cats have a young side and will look to run the ball on the open spaces of the MCG. Azza Christianson had a stellar season last year and will be working hard again, while young guns James "Nipper" Wright, Al Collins and Gus Story will again provide youthful exuberance and dash for the Cats.
The Roos are coming off a tough week one match against Diggers Rest and will need to be on thier toes not to take the foot off the gas after a high last week. New recruits Bonnici and Hole were great last week while Spud James, Stevie Boyd and Jordan Handicott will be looking to have an impact on this game.
Roos to win.

Woodend/Hesket Vs Riddell
IMO just pipped for Match of the Round status. The Hawks had a massive win last week and will be looking to make a statement against the reigning premier this week. The Hawks midfield is looking ominous with Bowen, Salpietro and Sipthorpe (If he plays). Matt Stacey will become one of the better ruckman in the league this year and Ben Shippard is an exciting talent.
The Bombers kick started thier season in style last week with a win over Kilmore at Kilmore. The usual suspects were again dominant for the bombers and Woodend will need to keep an eye on Bellville, Blade, Wadden and Besanko. The returning Michael Allen is a gun and will need to be stopped if the Hawks are to win.
Riddell by 8pts

Diggers Rest Vs Romsey
Match of the round.
Diggers are coming off a hard fought encounter with the Roos in Round 1 and will be looking to bounce back after the narrow loss, the Burra would be expecting the return of number 1 ruckman Jose. Steve Hoare battled hard last week as did Mick Kilty and Jeff Heritage while skipper Sims will be looking to inspire his side. Diggers will look for Cole Laurie to have an impact as in patches against the Roos looked very dangerous.
Romsey showed that they will be a force in 07 with a big win over Centrals. Connellan dominated the ruck and the strong Romsey midfield were able to control the game. Brydon Morgan started the season in style and loves playing against the Burra. Romsey will need to use the ball well and control the tempo to keep the Diggers big 4 away from the ball.
Romsey by 13pts.

Good summary IMS.

My tips for round two are:

Kilmore by 35 points.
Centrals by 30 points.
Sunbury Kangaroos by 80 points.
Riddell by 12 points.
Diggers Rest by 5 points.

Heavy rains falling over south aust today, expect them to move over melbourne and make for a wet round 2. We all need the rain but couldn't it come anyday other than saturday, Macedons cold enough without it

Blues12 would you like someone to come stand out on the ground with you holding an umbrella and maybe a hot chocolate, or if you are just a supporter I will leave the car running with the heater on. would you like that

they would want it to be terrential down pour, kilmore played in the wet last weekend against Riddell and were good enugh to stay with Riddell all day. Would say kilmore should win fairly comfortably

Melton Centrals had a fairly comfortable 28-point win against Rockbank in the seconds. Rockbank kicked consecutive goals in the final term to reduce the margin to sixteen points, and it seemed that with the wind and momentum, Rockbank could cause an upset. But the Centrals proved too good in the end.

Kilmore's premiership odds have come in significantly after a 22-goal win over Lancefield.

The Blues were brilliant, ran the ball sensationally and played out the four-quarters.

More details to follow ...

dont go talking the premiership odds up after one game matt, sounds like you jumping on a bandwagon we taking it one week at a time! adam goudge terrific game today hard at all day n used the ball brilliantly. good team win with the goals shared around

I've always been on the Kilmore bandwagon Trav. Liked your efforts last week too! Lancefield were depleted but the Blues were awesome.

I dont necessarily want you to jump on the hawks wagon Matt, but could you review your predictions after our win against Riddell and sneak us into the final five. Riddell lucky not to lose by a lot more after Hawks missed quite a few shots on goal. But thet will still be a very good team particularly after Bluey and Peatling return. I know Riddell had a few out but here's a few names for the Hawks who didn't play yesterday Danny Sipthorpe, Ninga, David Patterson, Banga (new recruit-rover very classy) and Jubes (all proven senior players). Not to mention quite a few players in the 2's pushing for a senior game. I agree to talk about premierships be it odds is a little too soon. Any other results on the other games Matt?
