Woodend by 11 goals. Is it true Riddell only won by 11 points? Great work by Kilmore. Perhaps this year is still worth playing out. A week ago certain posters would've had us stop the year and hand over the cup to unbeatable Bombers. Hawks cant wait for this week! Is it also true that there was an all in brawl at 3/4 time in the Roos v's Diggers game and 4 reports was the result. Just rumours filtering through at the moment-can they be confirmed?-If true who was reported and why?

Final results (based on phone calls, my eyes, and text messages):

Sunbury Kangaroos d Diggers Rest by 1 points. Just on the siren Sporley kicks point to give Roos win. Burra up all day, Roos worked their arses off to win. There was a big scuffle at 3qtr time I believe.

Riddell d Kilmore by 11 points. Bombers up by 33 in the last term, Rysa stands up with three to give Blues a sniff, time beat them. Cornish kicked 6.

Woodend-Hesket d Macedon by 11 goals. No details have yet come to hand.

Lancefield d Rockbank by 4 goals. No details yet to come to hand.

Romsey d Melton Central by 1 point. Redbacks down all day, snuck over the line in the dying moments. Burlak played his best game of the year.

Well bugger me. No surprise results, but some surprising margins. Looking forward to hearing the fall out from all and sundry.

Interesting to note Luke Barker bagged a lazy 8 on his return through the reserves for Woodend. Is there a spot for him in the 1's next week?

Hats off to greenshields and co. ... It takes an extreme amount of disipline for 18 on field players to execute the game plans this bloke uses.Obviously its working as he has tightened the gap that his side was getting belted by each week at the beginning of the year, who i thought were heading in the direction of another cellar dweller/ladder filler.Think this is about the 3rd impressive scoreline ive seen centrals have against a higher ranked side.Hopefully his boys get enuff bite, run and hunger into the attacking side of their game next year and they will definatley be a finals contender

HFF,

I believe that Woodend's "young guns" are better than Macedon's "young guns". I agree that Woodend have a better senior experienced list, which helps bring the young kids on. I think the proof is in today's pudding.

Watched the Diggers vs Sunbury game today and just wondering who the slow moving little fat No1 bloke is from Sunbury. Is he the same bloke that played at Macedon a few years ago?

Hey Jack ease up pal. Dean single handedly brought Sunbury back into the game in the 3rd and 4th quater. His skills were great and decison making awesome and all this with a hand injury sustained during the game. 3 qtr time was not a brawl as such but I did see the umpires with their books in hands. Not sure who reported. Crowd did get involved. No McMahon Dairy award for Diggers this week

Dan Yarwood was unlucky to be sent off and was used as a scape goat for the game getting out of control due to some terrible umpiring decisions.

thanx 4 the compliment about my weight mr bower.firstly i did play for macedon.secondly, when i did i was the number 1 player in the comp for 5 years.perhaps werner had my measure but i assure u i was always first picked for interleague and the most heavily tagged player of my time.
secondly i broke my thumb today at the 5 minute mark and should have stayed on the bench.but i came back on and had 24 possessions after half time with an a.f.l 6 week injury.so get a life and worry about your star studded team thats about 2 miss september action.no offence 2 the diggers players coz they had a crack, but this cheap shot at me is so laughable.even after the hiding my boys copped last week,i guarantee scooter woulnt pot me so cowardly.yes im passed my time but no player has beaten me this year

perhaps the legends of the league can help me with this.

Interesting the umpires were overheard tossing up between A. Collins and J. Wright for the Bill Tunn medal (BOG Award) both Macedon kids still playing 18's with Al Collins winning it, in a 11 goal losing side.

Kris Preston also doing well still a 16 year old.

:thumbsu:I thought the umpiring at the diggers sunbury game was pretty good until a certain umpire sent of yarwood. Just for the fact he did deserve to be sent off, however the umpire had paid the free down field and started to walk away to only be talked into it by the supporters and then turn around to send him off:thumbsdown: secondly what happened after this was a discrace. for players to have a scuffle fair enough, shows some heart. for those idiots from diggers rest, especially that one old bloke who was in there first, if you think the crowd should get involved you should not bothering turning up to the game next week. Was great to see the kangas supporters didn't feel the need to ruin a great day of football by getting sucked in to that rubbish. Could not think of a better finish to the day after that display than to win the game after the siren by a point to finish diggers rest season. :thumbsu:

Yarwood was insane at 3 qrt time! He was trying to belt 4 blokes and was lucky to be offered a week. He got reported for punching Ruane in the face twice while he was on the ground, and if it went to tribunal would of got about 4 weeks. Good move by Dixon to keep him off the ground for the rest of the game because he has cost his side plenty of times before.

Kudos to the rest of the kangaroos, they fought hard and didn't give up right until the end. Helmers did have a good second half and did provide them with plenty of run which Diggers didn't have in the last.

spot on cobber. any news on any other reports out of the fracca. that short fat umpire that sent yarwood off was writing a few things in his book whilst it was going on. Not sure what happened but i think that was pay back on roo for an earlier incident. the diggers fans were getting right into yars and a couple of other players all day and eventually he cracked i think. great to see all the supporters together and when diggers are going good they cheer like no other. but when the chips are down they turn ferral and that is a blight on the game we don't need. and for the diggers coach to have his huddle so close to the kangas after the fracca they should be diciplined for bringing the game into disrepute.
anyway enough about that helmers was great but for me i think mc inerny was easily best on.

I appreciate your history Mongrel but having an over inflated ego about your playing ability is something you would not want to have at the top of your resume, point is that with your ability as a footballer over the years you can't compare yourself to other great players of the past that played in the Riddle League in it's hey day.
The standard of the league has fallen dramatically in the last decade, if you were to call yourself openly the super hero of football in the area why haven't you tested yourself in Leagues such as Ballarat, Essendon, old VFA and Diamond Valley or even Eastern. It's good to be a big fish in a very small pond!

why don't you just state what your real problem with him is. you don't just come on here making personal attacks about a bloke who was very close to breaking into the afl in his day by saying that he does not cut it. maybe you were on the receiving end of what he can do?

I don't have a problem with the Michelin man at all but I asked the question last night because I did think yesterday it looked like Helmers out there and then his ego has obviuosly ballooned since 5pm to 3am this morning all I am saying is I'm stating the facts I think the young fellar should have had a fair dinkum dip at a higher level for a longer time throughout his career. It's fine for someone to state how good their career has been or is but in my opinion if you haven't played at the highest level of football that your ability portrays consistently for a long period of time, then why consistently would you get on the Thread and tell the world how good you could of been. There are doers and wantabe's and Mongrel you could have been so much better in a big pond not a small one.

great effort with the roos to steal the win on the siren, Mcinerney fired all the boys up with his last quarter efforts, Ellery with his dashing roving of the pack to even the score, then it was Sporle, BANG siren point, joy to the Roos.

As for 3/4 time Mallee no reports came out of it, just a fine for both clubs. Thanks the dik head diggers supporter for actually starting it. He should be banned from attending all RDFL games. I'm sure diggers will know who he is.I dont care if he hit his mother on the field is just that, players only.

It looks like you have your story about Yars but maybe you didn't see the cheap shot he recieved just before it, but we all know the retaliator always gets caught. also noticed 1 player used the same words as grubby last week but... very silly for a player generally in the umpires votes. especially after last week.

Just to clear a few things up for you Mr Bower, how you can disgrace such a name is beyond me, but anyway.

Dean Helmers was one of the top players in the competition when the league was at its best. He was arguably the leading midfielder in the competition when sides like Gissy, Jacana, Wallan and Cragiburn were smashing everyone. Over an extended period of time...
As for big fish in the small pond, shows your knowledge on the topic has no basis nor any intelligent thought.
Dean was drafted by Geelong, therefore made it to the top level, wouldn't you say??? He also played in the Geelong Football League which is a much higher standard than any of the leagues you mentioned and played great football. Over an extended period of time.

So before you come on here an try to individually pot a person because he is better than you are.... Maybe you should take a deep breath and think about it... Then research what you post before you post it, everyone is entitled to an opinion. Not so entitled to post misinformed DRIVEL...

Thanks for wasting everyone's time.

The best thing about your posting JB is every one else who has hidden behind an asummed identity on this forum has been found out. I would love to be there the day mongrel sees you the first time after your identity is discovered. If i was you i would keep hidding behind the computer like the the other weak p***ks tried.

Not pumping up my own tyres here but 12years of senior football in the SANFL during it's hey day of the 70's and 80's and then an invlovement with a VFA club for the last 18years would certainly give me a qualified opinion. I'm also sure that if Mongrel ever met me face to face he would certainly enjoy a beer or two with this old has been.

Thanks for wasting everyone's time.
It should also be pointed out that if everyone of the ilk of Helmers took off (like most did) the league may never have come back. But as you can see, it is coming back.

so whats a bloke with such high credentials doing watching a crapy old has been league like ours for? I also noticed that you are a new member who decided to attack one of the leagues best players with your first three posts. are you for real? or do you have more than one allias, and just trying to stir up trouble with this one???
