Ashamedly I took today off to watch what I thought would be a crackerjack game between my mob (Fremantle) and St Kilda. Should have watched the Tigers roll the Roos, although I heard from both sides that there were some critical referee decisions that may have swayed the game. Won't comment as I wasn't there. Good to see the race for the five go down to the final home and away season. It's been a ripper season thus far and the finals should be very interesting. Can't see Riddell getting beaten though. Woodend-Hesket must have been truly awesome though to win by 192 points. They will be the grand finalists. With Mick Allen only kicking five, the same as what Cornish finished with today, it means my man has the goalkicking award all but sewn up.

Yer ok, him & Cam Dawson went head to head in the guts.
Forget the Allens, forget McLellan, Burlak, Belleville ... seeing those two young guns would have been worth six bucks for sure! I see Dawson got in the best for Romsey (I guess they had to give it to someone) who got the honours in your humble unbiased opinion?

Cam got hurt early in the last & went off & I dont think he came back on, but he took a couple of nice grabs & his endeavour was good.
I am glad I was'nt picking there best though cause they were swamped !
Young Harrison went really well though !
I will say they had a couple out, but when they went forward they moved the ball really well for goals.
OMNI who were your best six for both sides? Forget the RDFL website.

Look it would'nt really be fair of me to name Romseys best cause 1. I was'nt really watching them closely enough & 2. I dont know their nos or names very well. Having said that no one really stood out to me apart from Harro' & the short bald on baller.(Whats his name please ?)
Riddells best for me clearly were Bellville(BOG), Petran, J Allen B. Allen, Peatling & M. Allen.
Luke Malone, Chris Burkett, Rob Cini, Kirk Lang, Glen Caton and Aaron Andrews. Not sure how many doubled up but all bar Glen Caton are still eligible for 18's next year.

I would have to say that Riddell are by far the best side in the league. There are very well drilled, they have exceptional skills and they stick to their game plan and hold position very well. We were out classed on the day, no excuses, I think Riddell had a really good day and Romsey had a really bad day. But to their credit Riddell made Romsey have a bad day. If I had to put forward my best players for both sides it would be as follows:
Riddell: Petran, Mick Allen, Belville, Blade and Burnette
Romsey: Burlak, Wilson, McLellan, Connellan and B. John
Riddell will not lose another game this year, hopefully until the GF and in an ideal world it would be the redbacks that beat them.

Will they be beaten?
CRUISE control is a pretty routine gadget for a motor vehicle these days.
It may sound weird to suggest that a football side could possess a similar function, but when you look back at this year’s results, it is increasingly obvious that Riddell have been in cruise control for much of the season.
Apart from a slight hiccup in round two against Woodend-Hesket, their only loss thus far in their campaign for a third successive premiership, the Bombers have gone through 2007 with relative ease.
There have only been a few occasions this year where Riddell has needed to step it up a notch and lift a gear.
Apart from the early Hawks game, they have blown their opposition apart when asked to go up a notch.
Take round nine for example. Sunbury Kangaroos travelled to Riddell with high hopes in what was a battle for top spot on the ladder.
While the Roos had their excuses, the Bombers simply blitzed that afternoon to send a spine tingling message to the rest of their rivals.
The following week they cruised home against Kilmore, despite a late charge from the Blues, before stepping up again in a low-scoring affair against Woodend-Hesket a week later.
Since then, they have coasted against some of the lower tier sides. Last weekend the Bombers led by just one goal heading into the final term against Rockbank.
Needless to say they put the foot down in the final stanza to blow the Rams away.
TOO GOOD
On Saturday, the Riddell players flexed their muscles once again to show Romsey and the rest of the RDFL that they are the team to beat.
A sensational and super-paced opening term saw the Bombers make their visiting rivals look like a reserves side.
Riddell kicked 5.9 to 0.3 and looked hungry for a big win. The Redbacks were hanging on for dear life.
Down back, the Romsey defenders had trouble finding the right options, with Riddell forwards Mick Allen, Leigh Harrison, Heath Wadden and Dean Besanko all looking ominous early.
But it was young gun James Petran who stood tall once again to lead the Riddell forward line. The rising star kicked six majors to take his season tally to 35, placing him fourth in the league goalkicking.
Romsey persisted in the second term to wrest the momentum off the home side, but Riddell was having none of that, further extending their lead into the main break.
By half time, the game was over.
The Redbacks trailed by 66 points and sides like Riddell never give you a sniff of a comeback victory.
In the second half there was nothing but pride to play for, with Romsey coaches Mark Dipietro and Darren Lingard experimenting with a handful of players on the eve of the finals.
On Riddell’s formline, Dipietro and Lingard need to recruit at least three more “gun” players if they are to be competitive with Riddell. You could almost say the same for the other finals contenders.
Romsey were missing a few players, including Brydon Morgan and Dave Keenan, but even with a depleted side, should have performed much better.
Justin Belleville further enhanced his claims for the Bowen Medal with a sizzling performance in the midfield for the Bombers, while he was well supported by Jason Allen, Paul Murden and Heath Wadden.
Petran led the goalkicking for Riddell with six majors, while Mick Allen (five) was the other big contributor.
Romsey had no multiple goalscorer from their seven majors.
Steve Burlak, Tim Cox and Chris Wilson were best for the visitors, while the crowd was entertained with a thrilling battle between young guns Cameron Dawson and James Climas in the midfield.

I'm sure the Kangaroos rocked up thinking a 10 goal win if they half tried and a 100pt win if they were keen.
Come on guys, bring it on. Surely the umpires cost you the game.
Kangaroos will need Riddell to rest half there side this week to get within even 10 goals.
