I agree in principal with you Woody, but I'm lucky to be one of few on this thread that gets to see games featuring multiple combinations. Although I see more Kilmore games than any other, I also see a fair bit of Riddell, Romsey and Lancefield. I think it is fair to say that some players like Robbo play well against some sides and not great against others. Some teams have good match ups for him. I don't care where anyone gets their touches, as long as they use them well, which Robbo does. It's not his fault opposition sides let him loose all the time. In four Diggers Rest games I saw this year Sims was simply awesome. Cops at least one tagger per game, is the barometer of his side and always performs. Mark McInerney was almost as good as Bonnici this season, didn't have the high possie counts though. I'm one of Colesy's biggest fans and love the way he plays, but he just got squeezed out. I agree that Hannett was a great contributor in the games he played but didn't play enough to get in. Fellow onballers probably have a better idea on who is better, but from an outsiders point of view I thought I had it pretty much spot on. Banger was probably a victim of not being an attacking midfielder, which can work against your judgement if you're only a spectator. That argument can be used with Blade, who is a fleet-footed outside player who runs the lines.
Pickles you are spot on the attacking or even ball carrying HBF's on-ballers get all the recognition, which is par for the course a little. Clearly woodend are pretty happy with Nick and Banga in close, but there must be other ball-winners who don't get the recognition they probably deserve, he didnt play this year but Bluey Andrews was great at freeing up the riddell runners. Gouge has always does a good job at Kilmore as has Shewan at Lancefield and Dip was good at giving it too McCellan and Morgan to run and carry.. Two of those blokes dont play anymore.
Any others I missed out on? Woody mentioned Leigh Mc who can get it himself or find it in space as I think most of the Sunbury boys can, pretty handy players to have in the team.
