Just a quick question, Can you let me know your thoughts on who the best coach is in the league and why?

Outside my club the best I have heard is Mark Greenshields from Centrals.. Right mix of the technical and passionate sides of football.. Some of our coaches coach solely on passion (barrackers), some coach solely on technical nous .. Some I dont know how they ever got a job... :p

You are a w***er. Just another reason why Sunbury has the stigma that it does. The club has not changed one bit since the rovers days!

I heard a Woodend player say to his girlfriend as they crossed the ground after the game - "They went to far today" - Obviously refering to the mob of feral Woodend supporters that were a disgrace AGAIN today.
And Woodend won the best club award this season - What a joke !

Boys, for others like me that haven't heard anything about the game what happened?? Anyone got detailed info about the incidents?

Also what were the final scores?

They did go to far today, and it's going to be hard for them to blame this one on somebody else . It looked to me like they got what was coming. When the dust had settled and the woodend supporters had all gone home to lick their wounds all that was left was the empty bottles that they smuggled into the ground. It was a disgrace what happened today. The second time in two years that woodend supporters have been involved in the most ugly side of football, spectators and players fighting. The woodend football club need to get down off their ivory tower, stop pointing the finger at everyone else and sort out their own supporters:thumbsdown:.

When you say too far what is it you mean? Came over today for a closer look at your comp today and sounds like I missed all the bloody action because I left before half time of the seniors as the game looked done and dusted early

Re: Harrison Hyundai Cup - Riddell Vs Woodend/Hesket, 2.30PM, Romsey

Macedon by 22 points.

Riddell by 53 points.

Riddell by 82 points.

All of the talk for the next week will undoubtedly revolve around the occurances behind the goals but before we get dragged into all that "he did this and he did that" rubbish that is inevitable, I shall discuss the day...

Well done to Romsey, overall put on a pretty good Prelim Final day.. Kicked off with a 21 point win to the Half Full coached Cats (1 point off dammit).. Matt Goodwin dominated at stoppages, while Tom McGregor was everywhere, Kris Shaw was also outstanding for Macedon while Rory Tighe and Aaron Jackson were good for Kilmore. In the end Macedon just too good for the Blues though.

Riddell finished the Reserves game off by quarter time.. Wallan tried hard in the 2nd half but it was all done and dusted, unfortunately I think Wallan may have gone a week further than they probably should have. Young Lauchie Testro dominated for Riddell along with Dave Earle and Tim Power, Wallan had no answer for Mick Sammut up forward who's goal celebrations must rival any that Mark Williams has ever thrown up... A strong 52 point win (1 point off again dammit).

Riddell dominated the seniors as expected, James Climas was absolutely outstanding at stoppages, Peter Robertson was outstanding and Sam Young was just too good in the end for Guy Donovan. The key though was the performance of the 2 Riddell ruckman, they outplayed Matt Stacey most of the day, in the end Woodend had to use Lacy in the ruck, both Glenn Robertson and especially Mick Burnett were both outstanding.
The Hawks were competitive at best but just couldn't go with Riddell in the end, Barker starting in defense did the Hawks no favours as Jason Allen was allowed to float around by himself with Lacy pushed up the field and clean up everything, the Hawks small forwards were ineffective and a bulk of the work was left to the midfield who tried hard all day.

It was actually a pretty good game of football, to be able to watch some of those guys in action yesterday was a pleasure... Hopefully this week will be much the same... :thumbsu:

is someone going to fill us in on what happened or for legal reasons does everyone has to be quiet?

There was an incident behind the goals involving spectators and some players, the incident will involve police and a league investigation so specific details should not be posted on here.. If you have information please pass on to the league.. Any specific details posted will be deleted.

Thanks

Wasnt there but very disappointed to here about the incident. Regardless of who was at fault, if its true players jumped the fence & got involved they should receive a massive penalty. Its a shame this league seems to take 3 steps forward & hen an incident like this takes them 4 step backwards.:(

Overall the day was a good one and a good advertisment for the league I would have thought.. Unfortunately one incident will overshadow the day.. And it truly is unfortunate that this could happen.

now vobloke, i've had a look back over all your posts. and of the 15 times you've posted on big footy 9 of them were to whinge about umpiring. Ok champ we get it.

To label someone a disgrace is highly unjustified, as the same could probably be said about your teams inability to adapt and learn. I will spell this out for you as clearly as I can mate, if you are FIRST to the ball and keep your mouth SHUT you will be rewarded, you don't have to be a member of mensa to work that out.

Could be time for your club to look internally and stop heaping blame on outside factors that are out of your control, and start to better yourselves in areas that you bear control over.

Watched half of the riddell woodend game yesterday and spoke to people that watched all of it. i thought that simmo and icey did a good job, it nearly killed me to say that, hope he keeps up the good work.

did you see any games yesterday and what are your thoughts on the umpiring in the 3 games

I was at the game yesterday, the incident that occurred should not be a reflection of the Woodend players on the filed on the day, from what i witnessed, they played a good clean game, unlike last year's grand final were a Riddell player did something that made me feel ill. You must be careful when there is an incident like this, to not accuse the wrong people/person and cause them unnecessary concern that is not warranted. You can never excuse violence, take last weekend were a young life was lost to a violent incident. Verbal stupid comments will never kill someone. Lets hope next week it can be a really great day for the league, maybe they should get some Security presence that has some common sense. They need to monitor peoples behaviour and remove those that have had to much to drink and mouth off, remove them from the ground and don't allow them back in to the ground. There are families present, old and young, wanting to enjoy the day. Best of Luck to all playing on the weekend.
