what was it that was supposebly said by the woodend supporters that was so bad to make players jump the fence

you have no clue.

it's not what they were saying, the players old man was getting kicked on the ground.

I know that i would jump the fence if i was in the same situation.

enough of this crap what happenned happened now let the tribunal, league, police sort it out and every body calm down and lets discuss sundays games as there will be some great contests.

The only slim chance of Power playing is if all 3 miss. No chance if the 2 play. But again I would be amazed if riddell were prepared to spend thousands for Finaly.

If I remember correctly, unless Ian Findlay was registered as an offical club advocate for Riddell at the start of the season, he will not be able to represent the players anyway.

All clubs were asked at the start of the season to nominate two people to represent players as advocates at the tribunal this season. I believe this was also a requirement for the Umpires Association. I believe that all advocates attended a seminar to authorise/acknowledge/accredit their advocacy

There has been a heck of a lot of new "members" sign up over the past few days..

Can I just ask that we see a continued presence from these posters in the future... Although if you are going to sign up with an alias and tell people that they are speaking BS and then post some of the most outdated rambling BS I have ever seen, please think about what you are writing before you post it.. Thank goodness that after reading most of these posts, and I am talking about you "Bit of Balance". That I finally read a post with a measured and composed view rather than just babble.. Thank you to Dombomb.

The players never left the ground due to the verbal they were copping, neither of them could care less.
I am not justifying or defending any actions by any players or spectators, what happened happened and it is up to the relevant authorities to sort the matter out, no banter or justifying posts on this thread are going to have any relevance to the matter at all.
The fact of the matter is, most, if not all clubs have supporters that will continue to unleash verbal banter to opposition supporters, players and officials. Football is a passionate game, especially at local club level, you are representing your town after all. Violence is an unacceptable part of the banter and shouldn't occur.. Its as simple as that, but let us leave all of that to the officials to mediate.

I saw a post before that this weeks game may be boring.. Are you kidding?? It is the RDFL GF, we all go every year, to this game on the Sunday before the AFL GF and it has always been a cracking day, even when it has hailed down... I cant wait to get along on Sunday and watch 3 cracking games of football and 3 cracking games of Netball. Have a few cold bevvies and enjoy the bus ride home :thumbsu:

2 people to become "registered" advocates.. Findlay is a registered advocate if that is the way that Riddell choose to go.

Working overtime IMS with all this deleting and editing.

If Riddell's 2 reported players get weeks it would be a big loss but throw in a broken leg and an appendicitis and things are looking tougher by the minute. Talk about backs to the wall.

Still a quality enough list to overcome any of these issues I think.. Diggers will give thier all, not sure if there is enough depth.. Unless it rains.. Or if they are close enough at 3 quarter time...

4 of Riddells best players brings Diggers right into the game. Especially if Jose plays. A week off and all the distractions and injuries of this week make it a very close game.

Finlay is a freak however and I would bet on him instead of against him.

Jose wont play... Neither will Browne.. The whole exemption thing is a myth, both players have strong beliefs and as far as I am aware have no intention of playing, if this was the case they would have played 3 years ago... I could be wrong, but I doubt that they will and good on them, beliefs are stronger than a game of footy. :thumbsu:

Yes he is. I would be hoping that the umpires or league officials, who ever made the reports has dotted the i's and crossed the t's. I'm sure the case could be difficult given the circumstances. A technicality could be the way he may go. But who knows. Is this just talk or will Iian be definitely representing them tonight.

100% he will be there tonight. My tip will be 1 in and 1 out.

I heard a whisper that our former resident journalist spilled the beans on last weekend's incident to 1116 SEN.

I'll be listening tonight, and if its on SEN, you can bet it'll be in the Herald Sun sooner rather than later.

hopefully it does get in there and hopefully the full story is told , the day was going along beautifully until the incident romseys ground magnificent condition (woodend could take note on ground prep and general maintanace on that thing they call a football oval its been a pool of disease for years now when will those high up finally take notice and never ever give them another final again)
secruity-money for jam for you guys hey walk around playing pocket billiards all day and when trouble starts or in this case was brewing for a couple of qrts you should of been there and sorted it out before this happened. rdfl MUST do something about it.
FACT-i was told from a person in offical capacity from woodend straight after the incident that he was appalled at what was coming from the mouths of his own supporters/players , whilst i was standing there he even told quite a few of them what a joke he thought they were, and that it was a disgrace.
lets hope the people in question get a fair run tonight although my opinion is that the whole thing should be left untouched until the grand final has finished as there is way to much crap to sort through, lets hope the rdfl finally learn a lesson as this is twice in two yrs something like this has happened, lets hope romsey or macedon host the grand final next yr and lets hope that woodend become the team that everyone loves to hate(quite sure this would almost be the case)
for the very very few good people at woodend i feel sorry for you as the rest of the people who are involved in your club let the whole place down,we all no that woodend have never been able to cop any criticism and this im sure will be another they cry poor over to.
to finish i must say to the coach of woodend how sad of you to call a head count you really were clinging to threads there absolute disgrace and you should be ashamed of yourself for trying to win a game that way the umpires were right and had sorted it out but you went to far and it was the second most pathetic thing ive seen all year first being the state of your ground for a final !!

Will Findlay be able to represent the Riddell players? Unless Riddell have registered him as a registered RDFL advocate the leagues rules would prevent him acting as an advocate. Below is a cut and paste of some sections of the league rules relating to tribunals and advocates.
.
TRIBUNAL PROCEDURE.
    1.

(a) The procedure to be followed by the Tribunal shall be as provided in the Rules published from time to time by AFL Victoria.

(h) A person who has been charged with a Reportable Offence (Rule 25) must be represented by an advocate before the Board, the Tribunal or Appeal Board, as the case may be. That advocate must be an accredited RDFL Advocate. The conduct of the RDFL Advocate is answerable to the Board, Tribunal or Appeal Board and he/she is to be co-operative and courteous and truthful at all times when appearing and if not, the hearing body can direct him/her to leave the hearing.

In the absence of an accredited RDFL Advocate, a Tribunal hearing will proceed, unless the Tribunal determines that the person charged with the offence so represented may be jeopardised, but the non-accredited advocate will not be able to speak or address the Tribunal.

(i) The Tribunal shall have the power to summons such witnesses as it may deem necessary for the proper hearing and determination of all matters before it.

(l) Accredited Advocates - Any advocate appearing before the Board, Tribunal, or Appeal Board must be an accredited RDFL Advocate.

(m) All Member Clubs and the Riddell Umpires must, one week prior to the scheduled commencement of the playing season nominate a minimum of two accredited RDFL Advocates to attend any hearing before the Board, Tribunal or Appeal Board.

(n) In the four weeks before the commencement of the first senior RDFL game each season, prospective advocates will be required to attend an advocates training course conducted by the RDFL, and produce at that time a copy of all relevant tribunal rules, hearing procedures and forms. If a prospective advocate fails to do this, he or she can not appear before the Tribunal until copies of those documents are produced by the prospective advocate to the League General Manager.

(o) An RDFL Advocate who has not appeared before the Board, the Tribunal or Appeal Board within the preceding 24 months will be required to attend the advocates training course to obtain a new accreditation.

Yep, just also heard from reliable sources that both players are free to play on Sunday. Think the tribunal has made the correct decision under difficult circumstances. Good luck to all involved on the weekend.

What a disgrace ... just reminds me of the Aaron James situation a few years back if you ask me. We'll give him two years, but if he throws chairs at us then i think we should reduce it.

Lets say hypothetically you've got a relative playing on the same team as you and he's getting a rough team and it results into a bit of fisty cuffs. If the same action had of been taken then all involved would have had the book thrown at them straight away. But once you jump the fence its free game?

I just don't get it.

Obvioulsy the tribunal found that the Woodend supporters brought the game into disrepute and not the plays that went to help their family.

Great result for Riddell. Will be extremely hard to beat now.

It is a completely different tribunal to the one involving James and for the record his sentence was doubled after the incident then the sentence reduced at an appeal.
It is very unusual to have a case put off for 2 weeks, to allow players to play in a grand final. I thought the rules also read that players are unable to play until a hearing is heard. ohwell it doesn't affect me, i'm sure they had there reasons.
Lucky for Riddell, unlucky for Diggers

Both players were found guilty of minor misconduct in which they left the field of play, the charge carries a 1 week suspended sentence, which is what both players received... The tribunal was not deferred, it was held..

What is known...

Riddell outs are Justin Belleville and Brayden Allen.
Riddell possible in's are Nick Ash and Leigh Harrison.

But there may be a surprise inclusion with a certain player who has missed up to 7 weeks through injury that carved up Diggers last time being available if the coaching panel wants to select him...

This means that if 2 apposing players have a problem with each other on the field they can jump the fence ,punch the crap out of each other .Return to the field and get a 1 week suspended sentence.

Are you serious - the above situation has nothing to do with what happened on the weekend. The players were on the same side, they went to help their family. Common sense has prevailed.
