D Helmers.
Ex Under 16's and or 18's playing elsewhere at the end of 07, A Meldrum,

never been a cash thing at the cattery.. im sure with the rite ppl behind the scene they will be keeping their players and improving very rapidly. halff should be aknowledged for sticking through the good and bad times.
imo he is the only reason the club has kept going. im sure if he ever decided to have a go at coaching the seniors he would be very well supported by all past and present players.. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

ps... have a go sometime pal i believe you could do it..:):):)

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

I wonder if the lack of a social room, had something to do with Macedon losing players.
Surely with the new rooms being built, the social scene will improve, therefore giving the club every opportunity to hold on to players. Women will feel more comfortable to stick around and if there is women the men will be there.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

It's obvious that it's neally crunch time for all clubs as we get closer to the season. There have been a number of major losses from all clubs I'm told. Every single club seems to have lost a prime mover. Anyone care to give a run down from all clubs or close enough

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Would have to agree with this one. I played on Chuggy a few times in the GDFL and he is an extremely hard player to match up on. He is great in the air and can run all day as well. One way to get under his guard though is to heckle him about his blonde tips. He absolutely hates it. He can play though!!!
The word out of Centrals is that Chugg was in the top 5% of all the fitness testing which has taken place at Melton since the new year. He ran a 12.3 in the beep test which is exceptional and his vertical leap testing was the best the club has witnessed since its inception. There is also a strong rumour filtering out of The Blues that they are seriously considering thrusting Chugg straight into the captain's position.

Sounds more like 'draft camp' than Melton Centrals training.

12.3 isnt exactly exceptional!!! I would think around 14 or higher for a non professional player to be exceptional!

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

No doubt Chuggy brings a lot of leadership to the club, however, I really doubt he will usurp Wheel's for the captaincy. 12.3 on the beep test ain't that bad for January!

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

The 'beep test' is only good as a development program designed to help players identify their aerobic capacity and develop their breathing to stop latic acid accumulation.

This is why all junior's and Physical Education teachers use this on ages below 20 (it trains the body whilst growing). You will rarely find a AFL, VFL club or any top club use this method in todays training program.

The Beep Test is used to identify players at 'draft camp' from Burst players to endurance athletes.

You will find a 3km or 3.5km time trial to be more of a usefull measuring tool.

I love fitness Hawker but were at this level brother keep it simple i reckon.:thumbsu: However If you are to do these time trials, do them on a track or grass if there is any around.

Oh and by the way Chuggy has always been a decent athlete so this means nothing

What would be a good time for a 3km in our comp?
