Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Riddell far to good yesterdy across all three grades. Look out all other under 18 sides Riddells thirds looked really good yesterday. Also number of players in the seconds look like they could step up and play in the ones.

What happened up at Kilmore yesterday? Centrals to good? Or did the Kilmore boys have an off day?

Although Wallan just got up yesterday I think they will push for a top four finish this year. Chris Coleman to lead the way for the Wallan lads. Hard as nails and knows how to find the footy.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Any truth in the rumour that the player who defected his team at the last moment got red red carded yesterday?

He just got a yellow card mate after one of the rockbank boys grabbed him in a headlock from behind. Umpiring was very dissappointing for both sides. semmens still as bad as ever.

Could have been worse, you could have had Icely.

Romsey 1's def Lancefield by 23 points. Busted the game open in the 3rd quarter, 7 goals to nil.

Lancefield 2's won by a couple of goals, some happy boys there after being whipping boys for a couple of years.

Lancefield 18's won by about 25 goals in a lop sided affair. Miles Dorman dominant with 8 goals from the middle.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Are you serious joe? I would prefer to have icely over alot of umpires including the semmens. I think he is not a bad umpire for the way the game in our league is going, he lets alot go and the game flows freely, yes i have seen him have bad days but who doesn't, he calls it as he sees it.

Absolutely agree B12, just thought he had an ordinary day today is all. He's normally a very good umpire, and his bad day was probably better than the Semmens any day. :thumbsu:

I will also agree there.. Always happy to see Adam when he rolls up for a senior game, you know the game will not be over umpired and he will just make decisions as he see's them... :thumbsu:

It certainly is very quiet in here for what was probably one of the most interesting opening Rounds in RDFL history...

Anyone have anything from thier games on the weekend.?

My musings:

Kilmore very ordinary. All talk, no action. Only three players beat their respective rivals on Saturday - Robertson, D. Saunders, Pronk. May have won if Salter and Straney had of been up forward. They'll be back this week.

Wheelahan awesome, clearly BOG, not sixth best as listed on RDFL website. Centrals look fit for the first time in years. Have run. Chugg looks like a good pickup.

Wallan will have the second best forward line this year. With Fowler staying deep and Cornish and Dave Henderson leading from the square, not many backlines will cope. Shannon Galea and Kale Mazurek on the flanks should not go unnoticed, with Brenton Hanson at CHF. Pies need to work on fitness though.

Rockbank appear to be much improved. Last year would have rolled over and been beaten by 10+ goals. Like Centrals, appear to have worked hard over pre-season.

Romsey looked pretty good. Dawson simply awesome. Definitely should have had him in my top 50. At the year's end he'll be in top 10 IMO. Baker had a quiet day at FF, while McLellan was everywhere. Burlak looked better but needs to work better with Baker. Wheatley's look okay, didn't see the best of them yesterday.

Lancefield ruck Waters showed he was the real deal against Connellan. Probably won 70% of contests. Collins looked back in form but Tigers butchered the ball. John Baker and Dowling appear to be a good combination up forward. Watch out for Myles Dorman in the seniors next week. Freak.

UNDER 18s - My top six is shaiping this way - Lancefield, Riddell, Kilmore, Macedon, Kangaroos, Diggers Rest -- then daylight.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Word on the street is that Riddell have pulled off a major coup recruiting Bears Boy. He will have an official role at Riddell starting this week. Gee Omni and BB could also be arm in arm singing the song if Riddell wins this year flag.

Speaking on Omni - the young Climas was exceptional on the weekend - the goal he kicked in the last quarter was as good and classy as it gets. Sam Young and Lee James both had a positive impact on the game and will be 2 great players for Riddell.

Waters has a great leap on him and won 70% of the ruck contests but Connellan was alot better around the ground and played a massive part in a hardfought win, Tigers look alot better than I first thought and made us really earn the points, I think they may even finish in the top 6 after yesterdays performance.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Good win by the RDFL under17's yesterday beating Cairns easily. Was excellent to see just how far we have come in 2 years, the professionalism was outstanding, from dress code, uniforms, organisation and preperation the game was a success.

Congratulations to Scotty, Porky, Beats, and everyone involved, for the win, the effort put in over the last few weeks paid off.

Look out, the next generation coming through looks exciting.

The all white RDFL strip got the thumbs up from me :thumbsu:

i woulnt read to much into Lancefields win in the 18`s Romsey only had 14 players and half of Lancefields 18`s are Romsey defectors

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Just wondering if anyone heard about any netball games and their scores?? How did the "new" team go (Wallan)????
Heard they did ok and could be quite the contender??
Also heard that Cornish for Wallan was quite a dissapointment, can anyone verify??

Cornish looked good early for the Pies. Only kicked one goal but took a good defender was set up a couple.

Wallan has a really strong domestic netball competition at the local basketball stadium and is believed to have put together some really good sides.

The full netball scores were:
A-grade: Diggers Rest 45 d Sunbury Kangaroos 38; Wallan 90 d Rockbank 6; Kilmore 28 d Melton Central 27; Woodend-Hesket 42 d Riddell 41; Lancefield 57 d Romsey 23; Macedon (bye).
B-grade: Diggers Rest 30 d Sunbury Kangaroos 21; Wallan 38 d Rockbank 4; Melton Central 20 d Kilmore 19; Woodend-Hesket 24 d Riddell 18; Romsey 23 d Lancefield 19; Macedon (bye).
C-grade: Diggers Rest 26 d Sunbury Kangaroos 19; Romsey 19 d Lancefield 14.

Thanks Matt, well thats very good for the competition I suppose. Good on Wallan for getting it together, although I am still backing Kilmore to beat them since my missus plays for them. Can anyone tell me the difference between Wallan netball A side and Kilmore and maybe some odds on that game.

Also just on Cornish, I didnt think he woudl be a dissapointment - he always tries but had to ask.

Thanks Again Matt.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

You still didn't answer the question Matthew, is their any talent amongst the Wallan netballers? Or are you not the sort of bloke to ask?
