Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Cant argue with that :D Although one has to feel for me old mate Daff who might now get the A$$ outa the goalsquare  Is it true what they're saying that there was an agreement or something that Wallan were not to recruit from RDFL club's for a preiod of time after re-entering?
Heard ya's are rattling tins at the Hogan's/KFC traffic lights this weekend to raise the transfer fee.

Just kidding lads - either way the first Sunday clash should be a ball biter :thumbsu:
daff played a big factor in cornish returning to wallan as he idolised him as a kid. followin him from end to end.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

I'm pretty sure Kilmore have had advice from someone within AFL Victoria's ranks to suggest that if it went to appeals they'd be a very strong chance of winning. I never said Wallan should pay a $5k transfer fee, just that is what Cornish is worth to Kilmore.

All I know is that I've been inundated with phone calls and emails since this Cornish situation arose, so I'm happy to stoke up the fire a little. I told Dave I wouldn't ridicule him in the paper tomorrow, just that I would tell people the facts.
emails and phone calls wat a joke, All he wants to do is pull the jumper back on that he wore for 14 years!!! yeah its a shame he left it so close to the year, but he's been unsure about playing at all since christmas and speersy has talked him in to it numerous times, even speers will admitt to that!! Well Matt, l hope you tell people the right facts, because from wat cornish tell's me, he doesn't recall discussing this issue with you at all.
so if your facts have just come from speers where does cornish fit into it all?????

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Just assumed that money would be the first thing people thought of when they found out he was leaving.

I think you'll find in my article that I make it clear that Wallan haven't poached him too.

Just read your artical on the cental sport website, and l'm furious at some of your so called facts.
The trainer your talking about, wasn't just there to accommodate Cornish and isn't there this year, he paid that trainer numerous times out of his own pocket and is in fact still owed money from this trainer.
Yes he did get a bit of local work thro a few Kilmore lads, but surly that doesn't tie him to the club.
Cornish also attended all funtions and put plenty of money over the bar.
He was never badgered by anyone as he is 23 years old and has a mind of his own, maybe Cornish just didn't trust Speers, like many of the other Kilmore players.
Hope your prepared to write Cornish's side next week.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

I like the controversial article Matt.. Although it does seem a little biased toward Kilmore.. I think the only question should be, did Cornish sign a contract.. If yes, then he will have to remain at Kilmore or sit out, if no, then he is free to play where he likes, unless he owes the club money or property, which I am sure he would be happy to return or pay for if that is the case. I find it hard to see where Kilmore can hold the player without a contract, especially if Speers is saying that Kilmore is holding the clearance just to make it hard for Wallan...

Definately an interesting story though, will be keeping an eye out to see how it goes.

Dave gave me a simple line on Tuesday night to indicate he did not want to be involved "I know it's your job but can you try and play down this thing as best you can?"

I had his number, but I thought the poor bloke has been getting messages and calls all week, so I didn't want to hassle him further. I spoke to him this morning and although he was not happy with a few things, we discussed the article and he went away reasonably pleased. I also told him that if he likes we'll do a follow up story in next week's addition, which looks like happening.

I'm not going to keep getting on here and trying explain why or how Kilmore are going to fight the clearance issue, maybe someone from the Blues can step in. All I know is that they may have a card up their sleeve.

Kidnapping him is an offence

MATT NICHOLLS you are officially the biggest knob on big footy.

This award has quite a few contenders but with your latest article you take it out hands down.

You being the only reporter "I use this term lightly" to cover this story,
without talking to the bloke its about saying you didnt want to hassle him further.

If you dont want to hassle him. simple dont write it.

Any way Matt keep up the hard work we all need the humour.:thumbsu::D

A little harsh I would think... I can confirm that there are in fact way bigger knobs on big footy than Matt.. It is his job to write the stories for his area, this is a big story for the area.. I think the point more has to be whether or not there is a bias toward any one side of the story...

Believe it or not, but I have to live in this community, as well as work in it. I could go around annoying people all day and night for the "big stories", like Hutchy does, but my pay certainly doesn't warrant that, and I don't have a company that has a big budget to employ solicitors 24/7. I could have slept outside Dave's bushes for two days and gone through his rubbish looking for an "exclusive" back page story, but I'd rather just call up the clubs and go down to training in a civil matter. Like I said, I've spoken with Dave, he didn't like some aspects of the story, but overall thought it was reasonable. If you think I'm a knob, that's okay, but why don't you call me up, have a chat and get to know me. But then again its much easier to take pot shots from behind a computer screen isn't it?

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Last chance guys... Get on and vote for Big Thommo and Little Josh in the Hamish and Andy comp... If we get enough Big Footy votes maybe Thommo will give the RDFL a plug :thumbsu:

With that type of deflection skill IMS i bet you score most of your runs behind the wicket when you play cricket in the summer . Although promotion of the RDFL is great im sure your more hoping the boys get up so Thommo misses the 1st game. But hey an A for Effort

You're right, anyone can sit and take pot shots behind a computer screen and remain anonymous. In saying that, after he rings you up and gets to know you will his conclusion be any different I wonder!!!!

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

im not sure bout nicholls article entirely but i do know that the boys at kilmore understand cornishs decision, hes a great bloke and a bloody gun footballer!
dissapointing to happen so close to season and corno is sorry for that...
i know that he wasnt hat keen on playing against wallan and this was a major factor.

i think we are missing pickles article bout robbo where pickles came outta the closet as a pillow biting arse bandit! poor robbo is gonna cop shit coz of that article all weekend.
just a God amongst mere Mortals... cant wait for the boys 2 stir him up.
pickles are you actally in love with robbo? and has cornish going back 2 wallan spoiled a great love affair?
