Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Wallan v Diggers anyone?
Wallan only just getting over the line against Rockbank, whilst Diggers being betten by an undermanned Kangas. For me I think Diggers should win by a few but anyone else got any idea as to where these teams are at.

My tips for this week are:
Riddell by 35pts.
Melton Central by 10pts.
Wallan by 4pts.
Romsey by 15pts.
Kilmore by 11pts.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Did not play Gissy - just coached - I think he played at Melton South before Gis.

I think he played 1 or 2 games last year when their 2's were short..

Maybe he just wants to be a player KA and not a coach ....

I played with him a Melton South when Phil Littlewood was coaching us. Was handy then.. Dunno bout now tho..

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

It seems you are tipping a few upsets there.
Nicklebet has not been updated for this week will be interesting what odds you are offering for these matches.

To be honest, he was a terrible coach (not to popular with the players).

He talked himself up a bit as a player.

the conversation i had with him was along the lines of him telling me that he wasnt much of a footballer.he enjoys coaching but didnt regard himself as anything special.from what ive seen so far,im quite impressed and dont see any reason why he cant be an assett to the club.

Shhh... Dont want the opposition to know that the comeback might happen, they will drop Warren Kairns back to the reserves just to combat the domination...

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

My Divine Tips for Round 2.

Riddell to just get the upper hand over a much improved Macedon lineup in the second half by 28 pts.
Key match ups in the game could be -

Belleville v Christiansen.

P Robertson v Collins.

Allen v Carter.

Climas v Wright.

But the best of all and well worth the admission price ------ Petran v Wilton.
These two Exciting tyros should put on an enthralling display….. A Must See !

Woodend to continue to improve & get the points in a close one over a much stronger Melton Unit by 8 pts.

Kilmore to notch up a handy win over a hapless Lancefield by 36 pts.

Sunbury to do it tough at home, led by their youth & get up in a thriller against a rampaging Romsey by 1 pt.

Wallan to answer their critics with a comfortable win over Diggers at home by 32 pts.

Good luck all.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

should be good to see how the Macedon boys go
wouldn't be surprised if a bit of an upset takes place.

Still looked like he had some good skills on him last year at training. In one game he even showed he had a bitta pace about him

Good win by the Bombers, having played in the game i can assure you that the macedon boys will cause a few upsets this year, not a bad side at all, through it at us at the start of the game i just think too many big blokes in the side, as to say they would cause an upset today was a bit to far though.

yeah great day to get out and watch some good footy. seniors was a good match.

but i think its really disappointing that there was no rdfl umpires present for the reserves match.. at all.
i hear that theyre might be 2 games a week without umpires in the twos.. if this is true its a disgrace. i no numbers might be low.. but (no offence to the two umpires who volunteered) the umpiring was terrible.
why not have only 1 umpire at 4 games instead of 2 at 2 and none at 2.

just some thoughts.,..

oh yeah btw, when you play wallan get out to see the netballers... they got some stunners :D

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Romsey very good yesterday.. Adam Kearney a standout.. Will be a very good unit this year.. Chris Wilson with goal of the year....

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Tuff start by diggers twos with first 2 games lost by 4 points in total. They will deffinately be there come finals.
Melton Centrals so far the biggest impovers by a long shot. Will rattle a few of the top sides and should be there in a 6 team finals series.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Riddell v Macedon.

Great days footy fought out between two Quality Clubs !
Yeah that’s right, Macedon Seniors showed yesterday that they are in Fact the real deal.
And it started at 12 O’clock in ressies, against a very good Riddell Two’s line up Macedon fought back from a 6 goal first quarter deficit to be trailing by only one goal at the last change. Their most obvious feature now, which has been missing in the past is they refused to accept that they were out of the contest & just kept tenaciously attacking the ball. Unfortunately they exhausted their push for victory & were overwhelmed in the last stanza by five goals, but along the way showed a sign that the culture at Macedon HAS indeed changed. No longer will the players just roll over & accept the “ Inevitable “ but instead dig deep & have a Red Hot Crack !

& THAT is exactly what their Ones did when they hit the field !
I know I know they lost by 12 goals ! BUT (& I know it’s a well worn Cliché’) the Score Board does not always reflect the Quality of the Contest.
Macedon led by their 6’ 6” ruckman won the first two clearances of the game, moving the ball with precision to score two quick goals.
Games are won & lost in the Guts & this mobile giant will cause mayhem this season.
Unfortunately for the Cats he was injured late in the first quarter thus cutting of the quality ball their mid fielders were receiving.
Now Riddells mid field brigade were allowed to do what they do so well, Dominate at the stoppages…….. bang it forward to Jamesy – Mark – Kick - Goal……… & Meacham – Mark – Kick - Goal.
Game Over !
Around the ground Macedon match up very well & were hard at it all day in a very physical encounter. Underestimate them this season at your own Peril was the consensus after the game among the Riddell faithful yesterday.
& Here’s a prediction…………… They will make the SIX, both teams !
