Ill go Riddell, Woodsy, Diggers, Romsey, Kilmore, Sunbury

Last two spots pretty hard to know. Especally as i havent seen a few teams play

Had a qusetion about the league footy record that gets handed out at games on saturdays. who is that mike lyon fella? his article about woodsy was pretty good i think. Good how he said Johnno was argubly the best skipper uin the comp. I think he is a gun, but i dont really know who all the other skippers are, any info?

Tough question on skippers. Whilst they do plenty on a Saturday they must also do a lot at training and even at a social level - off field leadership is as important as on field. Hard to judge from seeing them on a Saturday only.

11 Rockbank .............8 0 7 0 1 0 386 886 43.57 .......4

The competition looks amazingly even this year Rockbank have improved but are still off the pace.
Woodend, Sunbury and Wallan are yet to get 4 points for a bye
and Sunbury, Lancefeild and Centrals are still to play the winless Rockbank, can they put one of these sides a little behind the rest?

You forgot to add those teams that are yet to be pumped by Riddell and had their percentages affected accordingly. Interesting that the Roos have the second lowest percentage and are in the six. Too early to call. Need to wait for the first half to be completed as any team between 3 and 10 could defeat each other.

I'd Expect Macedon to replace the Kangas in 6th spot, while the Redbacks and Diggers will fight it right to the death for the prized 3rd position come finals time. Romsey have quite a few key players to come back into their side. Still can't understand why the league has adopted the final 6 - terrible system which doesn't reward consistent clubs - looks like Woodend will have to be the ones to try and make the big one the hard way. I think they can though, and maybe raise a few demons of '07 in the minds of the Riddell players.....

Forget when the byes are, Rockbank, Diggers, Romsey, Kilmore, only play Riddell once the % bonus of this WILL have the final say on the final 6, Sunbury, Macedon, Wallan, Lancefield, will have to win an extra game to replace the teams who only play Riddell once.

Do we need another team to join our comp in near future ?

I think we do , to keep the leauge strong 12 team comp is perfect.

What clubs would be good to join.

IMO I think the Marsh would be a good fit ..... But has the rdfl missed the boat with this one ?

Its up to the club to make the move not the league. Would love to see it happen though.

I believe Trentham played a couple of RDFL clubs in practice matches this year, Could this be to see where they would be at if they were to join??
I think they were beaten by Woodend and then beat Rockbank, but i could be wrong i'm sure others on this thread would know more.

Just spoken with the young fella, and by the way he is a great young bloke which I have a lot of time for, sometimes cougho #37, it is not all about the money, stand up blokes just want to play with their mates and enjoy success with them.

mcdfl clubs would be rapt if Trenm left as most sides have been wingeing about the travel for years and the winter snow. but would the kilmores and wallans for example be happy to travel that extra bit further. with the current list at Trenm they would be a bottom 4 side at the most but with a good young senior list. with a few taller/experienced key possie players they would be a very handy unit

was that PRESEASON you said, maybe the last 7 rounds have turned his thoughts around.. There are a few young blokes on our list that could get good coin at probably most of the rdfl clubs but their final decision was to stay together. Which is why I said money is not everything!

sorry guys i have 2 intervene here.firstly because of some horrible past memories playing against riddell, fights, injuries, losses etc. i am always going 2 be harsh with every comment i make on riddell.
BUT i personally threw enuf cash at climas pre season that would have wet any rdfl players lips.the fact was that the young fella would not here of money because his decision was going to be made on his own accord and money was neva going 2 change his mind regardless.
bdr68 your kind words remind me of what a great character u have. and i must agree that this young fella is not only a potential star but he also appears to have a very level head.good luck 2 him.

and mr nicholls i saw what u wrote tday that sunbury may? receive more injuries still.and unlike sum of the spineless people that rubbish u for no reason i actually do listen 2 your opinion and i know ims, halffull and omni do as well.HOWEVER surely you can appreciate that if sunbury are currently sitting in 6th spot without cuffe, ellis, smith, walsh, helmers, powell, etc.they should spark up soon.afterall they are only missing 2 players from last year.and both were very well held in the finals.
just a thought

I believe that if the Kangas put their best 22 on the park they'd finish 3-4. What I was trying to say that I'm a little bit sick and tired of supporters/players/officials saying that "once we get our full side, we'll be right".
Footy's a harsh and very physical game. I don't think any side on any given day EVER runs out "full strength". This year, the Roos and Redbacks have been dealt the injury card, next year it may be someone else's turn. It is a legitimate reason for not living up to your potential, but wingeing about it won't make the players fit.
On Saturday, Riddell were missing Climas and Petran, in my opinion, two of their best seven players. Woodend-Hesket was without Lacy and Forrest - their two main talls with Stacey still underdone. Romsey was without Burlak, Clint Wheatley, Dawson, Sullivan. Wallan has been missing coach through illness and so for forth.
We all know the Roos and other sides aren't playing their best footy at the moment because of injuries, but you just have to make do with what you have got and ask the middle-tier players to find that little bit extra to get you over the line. You did that on Saturday (with Cuffe kicking five) and just need to do so in the next few weeks. You won't beat Riddell and Woodend-Hesket without your best side in, but there's no reason why you can't beat everyone else.
