Yes you did see that sign ?and we are sticking up for the great man ,as you all no he is up on the sunshine coast in that mankini of his ,and a lot of people just continue to hang shit and tell countless lies about the great man so as the other sign stated bring back the great man-- we need him.

Also what a great job romsey football netball club did on the weekend you all should be proud best playing surface in the comp??

i was at the game yesterday, the incident that occurred should not be a reflection of the woodend players on the filed on the day, from what i witnessed, they played a good clean game, unlike last year's grand final were a riddell player did something that

good clean game ???as for the security ,they came and collected 3 times to 2 particular cars from the back of them. Stubbies of carlton ,bottles of johnny walkers , southern comfort and more. As for the clean up the next day big bad baulk was disgusted to fill one big green bin full of 1125 l vodka bottles ,stubbies, johnny walker bottles and a lot more that were snuck in, and a lot was picked up were the ferals from woodend were standing. Spoke to woodend cricket and football legend on the way out and he stated he was disgusted by some of the woodend crowd.
Also well done beats on your boys getting through

They did go to far today, and it's going to be hard for them to blame this one on somebody else . It looked to me like they got what was coming. When the dust had settled and the woodend supporters had all gone home to lick their wounds all that was left was the empty bottles that they smuggled into the ground. It was a disgrace what happened today. The second time in two years that woodend supporters have been involved in the most ugly side of football, spectators and players fighting. The woodend football club need to get down off their ivory tower, stop pointing the finger at everyone else and sort out their own supporters:thumbsdown:.

well done allasone you nailed it. woodend football club does need to come down off their tower, you seem like a well respected man or woman who knows whats going on. i was too far away from the incident, so tell me what happened and why. :thumbsu: BRING BACK PICKLES:thumbsu:

The RDFL has to make a stand on this incident! It is totally unacceptable behaviour and I feel sorry for all the people at the league and clubs that have been trying to improve the image of the comp, only to have drunks push it back into the dark ages.

Following incidents at Kilmore the week before, strong words were used in the Record about crowd behaviour and bringing alcohol into grounds,. The RDFL now has to back those words with strong actions. As stated in these threads, if security did find people consuming ‘brought in alcohol’ I assume their names would have been taken and they will be de-listed (if players) as stated in the Record.

I also hope the clubs do not try to condone the actions of their members being involved in this incident.

At last year’s Bowen Medal night, the then President of WHFC, in accepting the ‘Best Club Award’, stated that the club was built on strong discipline. If that is true a lot has changed in a very short period of time. After Saturday, I don't think WHFC should have their latest 'Best Club Award' taken off them, they should have enough pride and honesty to give it back!

On a brighter note, the football was good and the netball very good. Great outcome for our girls to get all three in the grand final. The C graders showed what G&D is all about. Bring it home on Sunday!!!

Having rread the posts on tyhis sight over the last two weeks I couldn't help but sign up. What a great example of people feeding off their own B/S. Firstly there's a mighty big difference between verbal sledging and physical violence. At Kilmore I heard supporters from Woodend sledging but the problem came when opposition supporters - female , and opposition players took the bait. The subsequent thinly veiled threats that were put on this website were a talking point all over the Macedon Ranges and the league. Fools turrned up at Romsey to see whether or not the threats would be carried out. The Woodend supporters were firmly planted in their spot on the fence early in the day and it was the Mob of foul mouthed drunken yobs that provocatively moved in behind the goals late in the game that incited the violence. It also should be noted that it escalated after an extremely ccowardly act on an inocent party. Couldn't help but Notice the perpertrator then did a runner.
Woodend supportors barrack hard from what I've seen but usually with good humour rather than with threats.
I rescued my young 10 yr old son who was in a car behind the goals at Romsey and I was disgusted at the behaviour. Make no mistake the mob who came and stood behind the goals were no better than English soccer hooligans looking for trouble.

As for Riddell, what a great well balnced team. They deserve to win the flag. They are obviously well drilled, disciplined and hard at it. So what a disappointment it must be for the club and its coach to have two players do such an amazingly stupid thing on Saturday. The last time I saw players do such an act was in the old Clunes League back in the 70's when knuckle men and Nethanderals were the name of the game. Thought we'd moved on.
No matter what their reasons and I've heard the word going arround, there's no excuse.
Quote from an RDJFL U/16 player who doesn't go to watch the seniors much..."Everytime I watch the Seniors' finals something violent happens.". I'd say it'd be a safe bet to assume his mum and dad would be less than enthusiatic about him continuing on into U/18s and Seniors! AND what do you think my 10 yr old son and his four mates will be talking about at school today? Well done to those hooligans and to those players for being such a poor example of what our great game is all about.

There is only so much the players should be able to take. Religion, Race and Family makes things very personal. Abusing any of the three takes things to far.
coach of the twos, hope he gets his Grand Final Medal that way! The Riddell V Woodend 2's grand final should be very interesting now.

My last word on the matter....
As an old bloke who played years ago and watches footy all over... BFL, the other BFL, CHFL, RDFL MCDFL, GVFL, players have been and continue to be sledged along these lines week in and week out for years and years. I do NOT condone it for one minute but let's be realistic, it happens regularly. Now if you concede that it happens regularly and that this sort of personal abuse is taking things too far, why is it that players aren't jumping the fence all over the state? The answer is that it simply is not justified.
Having a very socially active and techno communicative fourteen year old son I can assure you that this forum is being very widely monitored by the secondary school aged kids in our region. He showed me messages from kids at Sunbury S.C, Rupertswood, Braemar, Gisborne S.C, Kyneton S.C, SHC Kyneton, and Assumption, all talking about the footy for all of the wrong reasons.
Finally I was saddened by having to witness how obviously drunk the mob behind the goals were. I wasn't there long enough or close enough to form an opinion about the opposing camp. The abusive and foul language was disgraceful and the twisted, violent faces and the fall down drunken state of many was frightful - from the males and the females.
It was quite an effort to convince my 10 yr old and his mates that that behaviour wasn't normal - harder still when deep down you're not convinced yourself.
Any way back to the footy and let's hope that via this site a ffew people might grow up and stop the rot!

From what i heard, i'm sure there will be a few boys at diggers waiting to see the findings, If any players jumped the fence to get involved they should have the book thrown at them. From what i heard there may have been a good reason for it but it is still unacceptable.
The time is now to set a standard of crowd behavior in this league.

So you would have sat in the goal sqaure and watched your family members getting attacked? Hoping that maybe that will survive the on slaught? If that was your 14 year old son they set upon you I would find it hard to believe that you would not intervene.

If he is suspended i think you will find he is not allowed on the ground to coach and must be behind the fence, if they do win he might need somebody to go up and get it for him.

For the record, both face the tribunal Tuesday night

To be posting that type of information on here by "YOU", I would of thought would be highly inappropriate pal ?

not really it will just stop people asking the question

Riddell are getting a cherry picker so he can address them at quarter and 3 quarter tme. A suspended coach will still get a grand final medal.

Can't help but reply here

1)I thought it was said that it was in response to sledging?

2)Didn't see many 14yr olds in the fisticuffs

3)When I played I copped plenty and the family put up with it or went somewhere else at the ground to watch.

4) I'd expect my Old Man or my four brothers (cousins for that matter) to either stay out of strife or handle themselves if they did - the only time I could imagine jumping the fence was if it was my mother or sisters.

5) So both players had family members involved?

Nuff said!

I never said he wouldn't get one
They still need to win it. IMO they won't

They did not jump the fence because of sledging. Only one had a family members invloved but a team mate flew the flag for a fellow team mate. It may cost them a premiership and a silly thing to do but I would be surprised if they did not go over the fence if the same circumstance arose again.

Family is family... You only get one, so you look after them at all costs!

What he did shows you exactly why Riddell are the best side in the comp, they protect and look after each other at all cost's even if it means missing out on a grand final!

Im not condoning what happen, but sometimes there is more important things than football!

Lets not forget here that the RDFL surely has a duty of care to protect those players that are out on the ground making them lots of $$$$$ on the day. Its not that they havn’t seen this sort of situation before ie the Aaron James fiasco, so they should have provided the correct amount of security to ensure the players safety & crowd behavior where possible. I actually heard one of there fluro statues say as he headed off in the opposite direction, “ I don’t get paid to get involved in that shit “ !
Then what the hell are they paying them for ? To check cars for booze & confiscate any they find, is that all ?……….. well they did a great job there didn’t they !

Time for all those RDFL jacketed w***ers to actually do something other than swan around the ground shaking hands or be planted with their snouts in the feed trough that is the Presidents lunch & do something constructive. Just remember boys… no players no clubs,… no clubs no competition,…. no competition………. then you lot out of a job !

i am not involved with any club, and didn't see the episiode on saturday ,but if everything that supposely happened on saturday is true ,then the rdfl should throw the book at woodend football club and lee james and chris meachem should be able to play in the grand final.
jesus i am betting if it was any of the tribunal or league committiees family(i.e parents) who were getting set upon by a group of drunken louts then i bet they would of had the same thoughts as those two players did on saturday. the rdfl hire security for these games but what the hell where they doing on saturday? oh yeah they were probably just standing at the entrance checking parents with young kids in the car!! boots for drinks, and trying to act all huff and puff about it , when most of then are all cream puffs that you could knock over with a feather. the rdfl is fully to blame for this and they should be ashamed of what happened on saturday and give a full apoligy not just to lee james and chris meachem but also to the whole james and meachem families aswell. now i wouldn't know these 2 families from a bar of soap but every parent should be entitled to have the pleasure of watching their kids play in a final in peace. Woodend football club should have a good hard look at themselves . maybe a fellow poster by the name of MONGRAL was right with what he said last week about woodend fans and their blatant aggrigance . anyway heres hoping for a great granny on sunday
