James Climas - Talented young midfielder who is one of the leading clearance players in the competition.

Coach. Darren Rowsell - Uncomplicated communicator & tactician that is universally liked and respected by his playing group.

u have 2 understand omni that not a lot of guys have actually witnessed this little marvel in action.sergie power and his entire career speaks for itself.omni my coach jarrod dixon commented to me during sunburys game against woodend a few times.i was on the bench at the start when he pulled me aside and said, when u guys jogged out all the supporters were saying GEE they brought helmers back in 4 this.and at half time he just looked at me as sif to say,**** they forget quickly how good u are.
well sergie is no different.infact he is exactly the same.if he plays, they win.the boys will walk ten foot tall 4 him as my boys do me.play the little marvel scooter and give him his due send off:thumbsu:

With all due respect there pal, Serg just may be a little fitter than you appear to be just at the present..............You've trained off a tad there champ !

Oh & it may be a good idea to ease up on the old sherry a bit there old buddy.........

Why would you have thought that ? ( maybe its time you came out of the shadows)
& Yes it has indeed !

& IMO Serg is a great fit -

Because 1. He should be well & truelly over the hammy injury.
2. He is more than quallified, fit & ready to slot straight in.
3. His selection wont unballance either of the other 2 sides.
4. With him & Ash selected the bombers loose nothing.
5. & he can play a little bit apparently !

Plus it would be a good way for him to put an end to his career.

I just thought you may have had an opinion on the whole thing. Have not heard from you. You would have been at the game so I thought you may have commented. Not sure about the shadow comment. It has even made today's herald sun.

Power is out - slim chance of playing in the two's if a player does not come up. His career achievments have been very impressive for an angry little midget.

hey guys i dont normally follow this league but with the incident that happened saturday at romsey i know for an absolute fact that there was a current AFL footballer involved in the fight and he did end up with a broken nose. im not mentioning any names but yous should have a fair idea who he is.

There is a pic of him in todays herald sun - Dean Putt.

gentlemen.it is my understanding that the RDFL TRIBUAL only heard the cases on the reports made by the umpires on the day and that the League is still investigating and that further penalties may yet still be coming

Am led to believe that the best club award for 2008 is to be withdrawn from its recipients.
Wonder how many threatening letters this will prompt from the man of steel

The plot thickens. It should be an interesting day at Lancefield on Sunday. It appears to me now that the biggest losers out of this whole fiasco will be the Riddell league itself, they have lost a lot of credibility.

No credibility lost at all when you understand just how much power the national giant has when it wants to SPIN a story in its favour.

Rdfl media release

All,

RDFL Media release from the website..

Media Release

The RDFL Independent tribunal heard the cases of Lee James and Chris Meacham on Tuesday night where both players were charged with misconduct, leaving the field of play.

The case was presented to the tribunal and both Lee James and Chris Meacham were found guilty of misconduct for leaving the field of play.

Under the parameters that was set by the tribunal at the start of the year, a player reported and found guilty of misconduct, level 2 is to receive 1 week suspended sentence.

Contrary to all rumors there was no report made for any alleged strike.

The evidence presented to the tribunal actually put to rest a lot of the rumors as there was no striking action by either player.

This was corroborated by the umpire, various persons who provided witness statements from independent clubs and the persons who were allegedly struck.

It also must be noted that we were advised by local police that they would not be taking matter any further.

The league has investigated the incidents and the conduct of the supporters behind the goals.

A Woodend/Hesket reserves player has been charged by the RDFL board with bringing the game in disrepute and had his permit to play revoked.

Two Riddell Supporters have been banned from attending any RDFL game for 12 months.

Woodend/Hesket Football club have been given 7 days to show why they should not have their RDFL Club of the year award revoked.

The league wants to make it very clear that there is a zero tolerance for anti social behavior.

Any spectator acting in a manner that is antisocial have their name taken and be evicted. If that person or identified as being an RDFL player they will have their playing permit revoked and will not be welcome to RDFL games as a player, supporter or helper

Any spectator believed to be in possession of any alcohol that is identified as not being purchased at the venue will have their name taken and be evicted. If that person or identified as being an RDFL player they will have there playing permit revoked and will not be will not be welcome to RDFL games as a player, supporter or helper.

Yeah the story reads as a bit of a contradiction to most posts this week, dunno who to believe now

One fact that has gone unpublished is that Dean Putt may have saved the thugs from causing serious head injuries to another person by stepping in on Saturday. There was a person in the crowd recovering from a brain injury sustained playing a few weeks ago. Maybe Dean should be thanked not accused of being a thug. He might be an easy target because he has been fortunate to secure a place in the AFL and all this stuff makes for good publicity. Do any of you know this boy personally or are you just wanting to cut down a tall (excuse the pun) poppy ???? Lets stick to the facts and one such fact is the Riddell crowd went to the Woodend Crowd.:(

RDFL Harrison Hyundai Grand Final - Diggers Rest Vs Riddell

A battle of epic proportions. A battle of traditional rivals that matches any in the RDFL. A battle of David and Goliath.
A rematch of the classic Semi Final.
Enough of the clichés, this week, Diggers Rest and Riddell square off in the battle for total RDFL supremacy.
The Burra will be flying and full of confidence after 2 weeks ago completing the unthinkable. Defeating the un-defeatable Bombers. Yes, the ground was a mud patch, yes, it rained. In reality, the Burra were too good for the Bombers in the conditions dished up. Shaun Sims, the Diggers Rest captain was outstanding, clearly the best player on the ground. Jeremy Jose dominated both in the air and on the ground. Craig Thompson was willing to put his head over the football and thump the Burra forward. Jeff Heritage found plenty of the ball and Cole Laurie was at his elusive best up forward. Diggers were first to the ball, used it smarter and were always going to win the game.
The Bombers bounced back with a vengeance last week. Sam Young and James Climas were outstanding around the stoppages. Peter Robertson was outstanding on the wing. Jason Allen was left by the Woodend forwards to do as he pleased. Michael Allen and Aaron Blade were outstanding up forward.
The Bombers will be looking to bounce back from the disappointing loss 2 weeks ago and may have issues with a key defender and the runner up in the Bowen Medal Justin Belleville. Should these players not be available then the Bombers do have the depth to cover them. But mentally it has to leave a strain on its players. Leigh Harrison would be the natural choice to return, along with Nick Ash if available. But how does Darrin Rowsell ensure that his troops can mentally deal with these possible losses. The answer is simple; the key is Sam Young and Jason Allen. These two have the capability to inspire their team-mates.
On the flip side, Diggers Rest has the most inspirational leader in the competition as shown in the Semi. Shaun Sims almost single handed, dragged his side over the line. If he can get help from other leaders like Cole Laurie and Jeff Heritage then the Burra will be in this game right to the end. To be any chance they must be in front or within striking distance come 3 quarter time. Glen Hopkins has a massive task ahead of him, but he has a team with the discipline and will to succeed standing in front of him.

Key Match-ups:
Sam Young Vs Shaun Sims – Everyone would love to see these two go head to head, what a battle it would be.
Jeremy Jose/Craig Thompson/Shane Marchewka Vs Glenn Robertson/Mick Burnett – This will be a key to the game. Jose takes the first bounce and then becomes a Ruck Rover while Thompson may start defensive. Robertson must go with Jose if he plays.
James Petran Vs Ryan Underwood – Petran threatened to blow the game open in the semi and must be respected today. Underwood can go with him and will need to if the Burra are to shut him down.
James Climas Vs Jeff Heritage – Climas is IMO the best stoppage player in the competition. Heritage draws the ball like no other. Heritage will spend the bulk of the game patrolling the centre corridor. Riddell need to close him down.
Jason Allen Vs Bevan Green – In the Semi final, Green gave Allen the run around. He at one stage was one of the most dangerous men on the field. Allen needs to show a touch more respect to the Burra veteran.
Cole Laurie Vs Nick Ash – Ash didn’t play against the Burra last time, it showed. Laurie was too smart for his Riddell opponents. He won’t get the same amount of room if Ash is playing, but is capable of being a match winner.

Wild Card Players

Riddell:
James Petran – Petran can win this game for Riddell with his marking ability across the half forward line. If he can get away from his opponent the Burra will be in trouble.
James Climas – Spent nowhere near enough time on the ball last time. Was outstanding in the Prelim. Must get first hand clearances.
Nick Ash – If he plays he must keep Laurie quiet. One of the best defenders in the competition.
Dean Besanko – Could once again become the wildcard up forward for the Bombers. Quick, elusive and excellent skills.

Diggers Rest:
Shane Marchewka – Must ruck and be an around the ground option as he did against Macedon early in the finals. Capable of causing huge headaches to the opposition.
Jeff Heritage – If he is getting a lot of the football he hurts opposition with his ability to hit up a target. Riddell must keep an eye on him.
Craig Thompson – Mobile, reads the ball well. Needs to have a huge game along with the stars for the Burra.
Bevan Green – Was outstanding 2 weeks ago. Needs to be even better today.

Overall, a classic match up waits – or is it? Depends on which Diggers side shows up, because while all the excuses in the book can be used if a loss occurs, the reality is that football is a simple game. If Diggers have the ball then Riddell don’t. It’s a basic philosophy but one that still rings true. The Burra have the desire, but do they have the talent to ensure that the ball is their’s?

My tip – Riddell by 37 points.
BOG - Peter Robertson (Riddell)

Got no idea number one who any of ya's are - as an avid reader I was just stating there has been far too many conflicting accounts of what went on before the HS article today. Perhaps if I hadv'e hung around all day I coulda been in the know:(

Mooney Valley Racing Club Reserves Grand Final - Woodend/Hesket Vs Riddell

The match up that many predicted would also be the Senior grade Grand Final.
In recent times, the rivalry between these 2 sides has built dramatically, from last years Grand Final, through to this years Preliminary Final. Everything points to a classic match up between these 2 sides come 12pm on Sunday.
The Hawks have been outstanding during the finals series. Easily accounting for Riddell and then Wallan. Ben Black has been in outstanding form through the midfield and forward line and looms as an early key for the Hawks in this one. Centre Half Back Mark Williams was outstanding last week dominating across half back as the third man up, he wont have it so easy this week if he ends up running with Bomber hard man Brendan Alger. Shane Bowen gives the Hawks drive through the middle and the Hawks will expect big things from their forwards, who last time, tore apart the Riddell defence.
The Bombers were here last year, 7 goals up at 3 quarter time and were beaten by the rampaging Roos. This year they will not allow the same thing to happen. With many from that day still in the side, the Bombers will be looking to be on the other end this year. The key to the Bombers is the kids. David Earle, Lachie Testro, Mick Sammutt and Murray McDougall provide excellent drive and a showman like effort at every contest. Add to that the smarts of Ants Power and hardness of Scott Tresize and Brendan Alger and the Bombers have an outstanding mix of players, ideal for a premiership side.

Key Matchups:

Brendan Alger Vs Mark Williams - Williams is the Hawk drive, Alger is hard as nails no nonsence, but has the ability to turn the momentum of a game. If Williams plays on him he will need to respect him.
Murray McDougall Vs Shane Bowen - McDougall was a regular senior player last year and is definitely a talent. Bowen is elusive and very skilful, he has the ability to cut an opposition defense apart if left to roam freely.
Nick Box Vs Ben Black - Could be one of the most critical match ups of the game. Black is a free flowing skilful player that, like Bowen, can cut an opposition to shreds. Box is a head down straight at it type player that could curb Black's influence. Will be a very interesting match up.

Wildcards

Woodend/Hesket:
Daniel Millard - Under 18 goal kicking machine that has been on fire during the finals series. Riddell must shut him down.
Travis Leggett - Experienced and has a total ball winning ability that could cause headaches for the Bombers.
Liam O'Meara - Gun forward who is capable of kicking a match winning bag.

Riddell:
Nick Box - If he can keep his temper in check then is a fantastic player for the Bombers.
Scott Tresize - The big man is a mountain up forward, but do us a favour Scotty.. Stop tapping the ball and start grabbing it.. You either mark it or it falls front and centre.
Lachie Testro - An unsung hero in the Riddell lineup. Talented youngster with outstanding ball winning ability.

A classic match up ahead.. Forget the rivalry's, forget the fights, just get ready for an outstanding game of football between two outstanding Reserve grade sides...

My tip - Woodend/Hesket by 5 points.
BOG - Ben Black (Woodend/Hesket)

Buffalo Sports Under 18 Grand Final - Riddell Vs Macedon FC

THE MATCH UP - Porky Vs Beats... Let the games begin...

The Under 18 competition has been a fantastic advertisement for the RDFL this year.. With as many as 7 sides in the race at any one time.
The Riddell side surprised everyone with wins over Woodend/Hesket and Kilmore, but these wins should not have been surprising. The Bombers have a quality line up led by Ben Sonogan and Luke Fleming. The Bomber midfield is as good as any in the competition. Chris White and Grant Puxley have both had break out seasons and Ryan Edwards has found form coming into the finals.
The Cats finished the year as Minor Premiers and deserve this spot. Thier form in the past 2 weeks has been nothing short of outstanding. Last week the midfield in particular dominated proceedings allowing supply to the Cat forwards. Kris Preston had an impact at both ends as did Tom McGregor. But the livewire forwards the Cats possess could be the key here. I still cant talk highly enough of young midfielder Matt Goodwin, the key to the Cats at stoppages as well as two regular senior players in Paul Conversano and Matt Dettman. The Cats will be tough to top.

My tip - Macedon FC by 22pts
BOG - Matthew Johnstone (Macedon FC)

Is that the young man who continually re-inflamed the already volitile situation, the one with the head injuries, the same young man who made most, if not all of the disgusting remarks toward the player? The same young man that bought in his own alcohol in bottles??? THE SAME YOUNG MAN WHO IS TO BLAME FOR THE WHOLE INCIDENT.. You are right, Dean isn't the thug... Although he didn't help...

Just goes to prove you cant really believe everything you read in the Herald Sun......... BIG surprise there !

Whilst we are all focused on the big dance (as we should) spare a thought for those 2 Riddell Boys that are unfortunately missing out on the big dance through freak occurrences. That dreadlocked Champ Juzzy "The Predator " Belleville (cause he looks like that dude in the movie) & Braydon "The Smiling Assassin" Allen (cause he is always smiling even when he is towelling up an opponent).

These 2 have trained all year & been Fantastic for the Bombers.

This One"ll be for you Two as well fellas. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Every club has idiots who take things to far. I've had people abuse, spit at even stuff thrown at me. Some people are just born to be F*** wits.

Goodluck to those that are in the grandfinals tomorro and espeacialy our unders.Heard a bit of history lastnight coming from a past Woodend player that their seconds have not won a grandfinal in 30 years of Woodend/Hesket and its been 85 years since a Woodend or a Hesket team has done so!I wish those guys from Woodend/Hesket goodluck

good to see the league administrators and tribunal officals have once again shown that they will fail to be tough on perpetrators and prove that they have a "bark worse than theyre bite"
as they did in the semi of last years under 18s final./

goodluck to everyone playing on the weekend :thumbsu:
hope the leagues security will actually do theyre job this weekend.
