Cheers,

does anyone know if wheels is still at centrals, great player in ordinary side may pick up enough votes to take the bowen home...on the bankers it would be sad to see them not around in 2009 but maybe a break could actually help them...a very good side came back from recession a few years back and a much improved side came back only a couple of years ago

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Hey Everyone, Glad to be back for another big season in RDFL. Have been overseas but reading some post - sad I know. Can anyone update me on ins and outs at Macedon? Only defs please no hopefuls?

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Good to see 'banga' back at training with his mate pods for Woodend last week. One of them looking really fit, the other struggling to keep up. Looking more like a golfer than a footballer.

Also after a couple of eye catching games in Kyneton ones last year hear that young Massina might already have a sniff of the cash and could be following fellow Woodend cricketer Else to the cattery for coin. Wants to play senior football somewhere that he might be considered the dominant foward, and not just a foward pocket so I have heard. An else and a massina in the one side, reminds me of Woodend a few years back, even if neither are in the same league as their fathers.

Yes heard the Else rumour very close to confirmed. Great pick up for the Catters. Very solid and dependable full back, lovely kick of the footy, great one on one and has the turning circle of a mack truck.

Massina otherwise hadn't heard that one. Only a kid wonder how he'd go in senior footy? Is he going as part of a package with Else? As I see they play cricket together in the GDCA.

Any thoughts on the two tweezers? Or anyone?

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

hey HW,
i was under the impression that sully had gone off to play for the sunbury lions. has someone been telling me pork pies?
itd be good if he hasnt, hes a skillful boy who could have a bright future in the RDFL.

I too had heard the rumor he was going to the Lions along with Steve Burlak. Burlak will definately play at Romsey is season 08. I went down to training on Friday and Ben Sullivan was training with the boys. My sources tell me that he will play at Romsey also in season 08. He was training with Kyneton earlier but I am lead to believe that he was only training there because Romsey hadn't resumed training yet and he wanted to have a run, the same goes for Danny Harrison.

On another note, I'm a little confused as to why everyone has Romsey as the biggest slider for 08:confused: As far as I'm aware we haven't had any big name departures and it would seem that we will in fact pick up a very (very) handy on-baller, a full-foward that will go very close to kicking a 100 and a big guy to sit at centre half back. Is it because not much has been reported about Romsey so not too many people know what's going on down there or is it based on the reports of big name inclusions to other sides that will apparently see the Redbacks on the move Southbound on the ladder?

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

I did hear a whisper from a player that attended the first couple of training sessions down at the Redbacks that they were looking very strong. This would support you HW & catters, unfortunately I didn't put them up there (just my lack of experience)

Matt, whats the news on the rdfl website? Are they finally updating it? New look even?

has Morgan and McCellan committed to playing footy this year , if ur answer is a no and with you claiming to miss a fair bit of footy this year thats 3 handy palyers that need to be replaced. Not saying you guys will slide but if you get caught up in the all the who is going where circus youd have to say Riddell clearly , followed by kangaroos /woodend and big improvers being kilmore... But as we are all aware the season is along way of so ill reserve my judgement until closer to round 1

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

What's the criteria for Rookie of the Year/Rising Star? Is it about the age of the player, the number of senior games played or the number of games played in the RDFL?

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Harry how are the plans going at romsey for the new rooms, do they have an expected start date?

That's a very good question. I should be getting an update tonight hopefully. I know that there are plans being drawn up for an undercover area out the front of the existing rooms. Similar to Riddells, but given that there is a lot more room in front of the Romsey rooms the area should be a little more comfortable to stand / sit under. I did hear some talks of works that are going to be done, but I can't confirm anything yet. A fair bit of negotiating between the footy / cricket club and the golf / bowls club needs to be done to join the whole thing together.

This should see the rooms extend out to roughly where the cricket nets meet the netball court. The rooms are said to incorporate both home and away rooms, umpires rooms, a central bar and a large dining / entertainment area to cater for functions for all clubs beit football, cricket, golf or bowls.

As soon as I hear anything further I will keep everyone updated. Having said that, I couldn't see much being done this season. I know the away rooms are ear-marked for some T.L.C.

Dont touch those Away Rooms Harry please, far to much luxury there mate !
Also.......
I have been telling my boy that my Father got changed in those rooms the whole of his footy career, I got changed in there the whole of mine, so he should have that privilege for the whole his RDFL footy career.
Think of all the history, the heritage....... the smell !
Electricity & Hot Water are over rated anyway mate !

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Else at Macedon from 1998-2002 I would think the 2003 paperwork was Wazza going back to Woodend.

Sorry that didn't copy properly from the footy vic pages. That 2003 is since when Else became a Registered senior player with woodend. The first date is when the clearance was lodged
