Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

beep tests are that important and arnt an indicator of football skill, just coz you can run jump or your strong, does not mean you can play football... gotta get the red thing!

don't tell me you're struggling to meet the KFNC targets mate, thats what I always used to say too :D . . . . . . unlike you I couldn't get the red thing though and then realised at a fairly young age that if you run around for 100 mins and can't touch it you're wasting one's time :thumbsu:

Very true mate, but the bloke CAN play and the fact that he's fit is a great sign for this season. Besides, the only reason why we did the beep test was to gauge an improvement of fitness during the holiday period.

What a round 1 clash Van, Kilmore v Centrals both teams who finished outside the finals last year who are looking to break into the finals this year.

Odds anyone?? NichollBet??

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

The 'beep test' is only good as a development program designed to help players identify their aerobic capacity and develop their breathing to stop latic acid accumulation.

This is why all junior's and Physical Education teachers use this on ages below 20 (it trains the body whilst growing). You will rarely find a AFL, VFL club or any top club use this method in todays training program.

The Beep Test is used to identify players at 'draft camp' from Burst players to endurance athletes.

You will find a 3km or 3.5km time trial to be more of a usefull measuring tool.
the beep test is the most irrelevant measure of testing an afl club can use. for starters its a test developed by an american group designed for the 20 metre yard sprints and repeated efforts used in games such as gridiron but especially basketbal which is hwat it was primarily created 4. Its tests ones athleticism and does not in anyone simulate movements used in a games of afl. which as we all know specificity is the main need for creating an appropraite form of testing.
What would be a good time for a 3km in our comp?
depends are you after good time. a good time for an onballer would b around under 12. an excellent time would be sub 11
Anything below 12 minutes would be excellent.
surely not

no but it all helps to make the package

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Apparently they had their beep test at 8am on a Sunday. I say 12.3 on a Sunday morning after a night on the piss is exceptional ;)

I have heard nothing but great things about this bloke. Apparently he did very little pre-season prior to Xmas so although the beep test may be a little out dated 12.3 is a great first up effort.

With more and more of these better quality footballers joining our league, it shows that the RDFL is heading in the right direction.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Morning gentleman.

Just a quick one, I was going through some old video tapes I've collected over the years and came accross a game between the hammerheads and west footscray.

As I was watching last night I couldn't help but laugh as I think it was the hammerheads full forward, black hair long curls, running around like he was wayne carey. Every time they zoomed in on the huddle I got the impression that all he cared about was getting his head on TV.

By watching he's performance I think he should have been concentrating on getting a kick.

Just wondering if anybody can remeber the TV series and how pathetic it was.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

3km - anything around 10.20 -11 is exceptional 11+ Good, 12 + is above avergae

3.2/5km - just plus 35 - 40 seconds

These are for our league!

Do you often keep tapes of shows you find pathetic stabpasser???

Also I think you might be full of shit stabpasser because I just googled West Footscray and they were in Division 1 the year the Hammerheads were in Division 2 so the two wouldn't have played eachother. :D

You're not wrong there. Brendan Chugg is a high quality footballer who will no doubt bring plenty of spectators through the gates.

My bad must have been mistaken. I only had the tapes cause I thought I'd give the show a chance. As it turned out to many pretty boys running around worrying about how they looked rather than how they played.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Braybrook division 1 side as well. You might want to look a bit more carefully at that tape of yours, but then again why let the truth get in the way of a pretty ordinary troll.

Good to see you are up and about Whippety, we have missed you on our thread, gotheroo's for one has had withdrawls...lol

Cant imagine who the forward is that they are referring too?? maybe North Footscray is the opp's in the video , the game is probaly the replay of the grannie?

Cheers

I'd have to say you've had my measure comfortably this morning whippety or should I say Kooley. I sometimes get confused.

Tomorrow we will start to find out which clubs have been talking it up.
Clearances officially open..
League website still down, does anybody know when it may be up and running again?

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

It seems Kilmore had more new faces at training last night. A client confirmed that there's been about 10 new faces over the summer and all have signed and WILL play 1's. Ten locals from last year dropping back only improves the depth of the 2's for the coming year.
