I will tell yous all right now, Lancefield will finish top 3 for sure and will most likely make it to that last day in september. They also have alot more then 2 new recruits. The house brothers, leigh erwin, brian ruffell, carrol from sunbury roos, rory healy only to name a few. They will be very competetive this year thats for sure!

Erwin and Ruffell are handy pickups, if Talbot plays will be a huge bonus. Rory Healy is a former RDFL Under 18, is still young, will be handy.

The Tigers may just make finals, heck, they may just make it to GF day... My tip is that they wont make finals.

That's an odd name to throw in the mix of some top quality senior players. The KID is ok, but far from a recruit to be talking up. Considering your from Trenham, do you know Rory well? Didn't he want to have a run at Kyneton? What happened there Mr C?

Umpires might have had something to do with the grand final. Think that is pretty well fact around here. Secondly, Jose never put in bad games. Might have been kept quiet for a quarter, but never played shit for a full game. MASSIVE loss. Thirdly, I said the ladder was prior to the finals. You know as well as I do that Hopkins trains his side ultra hard in the home and away season which can affect regular performances. He then lightens it off just before finals and the results stand for themselves. Fourthly, Riddell was 80+ points better than every side last year and they had good depth and some good kids and will recruit well. Fifthly and finally, I expect Wallan to take massive steps this year.

That is why I had Diggers Rest third.

I can't predict finals.

What do you mean by your first statement ?

Sunbury seems to be scaring a few of the RDFL boys away. I can confirm J Goodyear was back at Woodsy this week and has decided to return. This follows Bladey & Sandles returning to Cats after signing on at Sunbury. More good players that the rdfl has retained. Wonder what Kings Army has to say about this, will prob just bag young blokes for not having a go rather than seeing that the clubs they have returned to have many other things going for them.
NBF Out!

Power is a straight shooter and by now has worked out his top 28 players, he is not out to bullsh!t kids and gave an honest appraisal to blade - not up to it. Sandle could not commit to 2 nights so therefore would play reserves. Goodyear would have been in the top 28 but mainly play in the 2's. Joel works for Power so no love lost there. The talent in the RDFL is along way from a starting 21 in Div 1 side in my opinion.

Fair enough but why lure them with big cash and sign on fees then.

It doesnt take long for most to realise that the grass isnt always greener...

I agree...

At the end of the day if they don't fit they don't fit its simple. Better than pissing in their pockets before the season starts and then finding out thyer aren't up to it for what ever reason

Positions at years end for me;

Riddell
Wallan
Woodend/Hesket

(big gap between these three and rest)

Lancefield
Sunbury/Kangaroos
Diggers Rest (any order with these 5)
Macedon
Broadford

Romsey (both just short of the mix for final 6)
Melton Centrals

Kilmore (job ahead may improve dissapointing 08)

Rockbank (looking for improvement)

Omni’s 2009 RDFL Season Predictions

Final Ladder.
Riddell
Lancefield
Macedon
Wallan
Diggers
Woodend

Sunbury
Romsey
Broadford
Melton
Kilmore
Rockbank

Premiers – Riddell

Bowen Medal – Chris Collins or Aaron Blade (Roughie) – Blake Whiteway or Shaun Sims.

Rising Star – Ben Sonogon.

Goal Kicking – Anyone of these…. Chris Meacham, Brian Ruffell, James McArthur, Cole Laurie, Dave Cornish or Garth Ploog.

This season shapes up as the year of the Power Forward.
With many sides now boasting very capable on ballers, the supply of quality ball down to the forward zone may mean the RDFL spectators are in for a goal kicking feast this Season.
There could in fact be the possibility where many of the above group could get close to, or pass the magical ton this year………… I’d LIKE TO SEE THAT !

Cant wait, let the Games Begin !

at recent fire relief day i seen a very good pickup by kangaroos.the guy playing at fullforward (number52)kicks them from anywhere and often will prove a headache for many fullbacks

What about the older one Rocket Rod? Took a drive the other Sunday to find a few venues etc and here was Rocket doing a beep test. I reckon he's in for a big year :thumbsu:

Which venues and how did they shape up?

From memory Lancefield, Woodend, Macedon, Riddell, Romsey, Wallan. Live in Kilmore and see Broadford's a couple of times a week. Geez that ground at Macedon is a great size aint it - although would it be fair to say that outer wing is a no-go zone? Do many opposition sides get lost out there?

All grounds obvioulsy are pretty dry - although Romsey was the pick for me, Riddell seemed green enough compared to others.

Yeah Rod goes ok too. Heartening to hear that sort of commitment from one of the local lads. (seen another few running roads too) Guess he wants to be one of those to stand up & fill the breach... good on him ! :thumbsu:

Hey IMShow any RDFL tipping comp this year ?

Anyone knowing who will be going from Riddel to Trentham with Palmer?

Anyone from Diggers willing to confirm or deny rumored injury to a gun this week?

Heard this too HFF... Big game player recruited last year that may have a season ending Knee injury..... Will be disappointed, would have been looking forward to seeing him take on younger brother that is joining the league this year.

Nothing like that old mate, just got the young bloke outa the house one afternoon and went for a drive, actually had to ring Rysa twice for directions as its all foreign to me.

We play Thornton at Thornton on Match 28, and Avenel at Avenel the following weekend (April 4).
