agreed, the guy is 6'6' and most teams in this comp have noone that can stop someone of that height with a sceric of football ability. Will be the most important player in the comp and will win the goal kicking if stationed up forward all year. I see no reason why he left the bfl, clearly a good enough player why does he need to drop standard? Macedon must be offering a lot of cash.

his grandad is a life member of macedon. not sure about the offering a lot of cash, but players of that standard don't seem to come to this league simply for the love of the game.:D

I'm back after a one month layoff for reasons that have already been said on this forum. Rightly or wrongly, I received punishment for comments regarding a former RDFL player and I have accepted the punishment.

Unfortunately it came two days prior to when I was going to post my Top 50 so you miss out.

Still, good to see some hot competition in the RDFL thus far and it looks as if most sides can give each other a shake on their given day.

As for Ash Fleming, he's got a fair bit of Macedon blood in him and although he is probably earning some dough for the Cats, I've got no doubt he'll give them excellent value for money.

The worrying sign for me is Wallan. I thought they'd be serious contenders this year but they haven't impressed thus far. Its obviously hard to gaugue form when you're living 3000km away.

Spoke to Broadford coach Chris Nolan on the weekend and although his side are 0-3, I think there is still plenty of upside for the Roos this season. You probably only need 8 wins to make finals and I think Broadford will be big players in the second half of the season.

Good to see the Cats up and about. I was actually going to put TBROB (The Big Rig's Older Brother) in my top three of the 50. Looks like he is setting the comp alight.

Keep an eye out for Leigh Erwin from Lancefield in coming weeks. He's potentially a star key position player.

For Romsey, this has to be Cam Dawson's break out year. He's always had the talent, he now has to start winning games for the Redbacks.

Once again a big round of footy this week, with some very interesting match ups:

In the battle for top spot, I'm tipping Macedon to firm as close to early favorites for the flag, with a strong away win over Sunbury Kangas. 27 pts

The Hawks v Bombers looms as a fiery clash, with no love lost between the 2 clubs in the past couple of seasons, I'm tipping Riddell by 15 pts in a tough affair

Diggers Rest travel to Wallan in what is probably the battle of the 2 most disappointed teams in the early stages of 09. Both sides had high expectations and will be looking to right their seasons this week. Shane Marchewka is playing well, but the Burra's are missing Jose, and I'm tipping Wallan at home by 23 pts.

A high pressure Rockbank host Kilmore, who have been a bit hot and cold so far this year. If Dave Innella is playing, I think he will add the extra cog that the Rams need to get over the line. Rockbank by 9.

Broadford make the long trip to Maccy park to take on Melton Centrals, who sprung back to life last week. Broadford took it to Sunbury for 3 quarters, but with Wheels and Bullen starting to fire I think it will be a long drive home for them. Centrals by 28 pts.

Lancefield to beat Romsey in the local derby.

Good luck to all:thumbsu:

Seriously, Krul is purely a ruckman and Walker can play anywhere.

Besides, Krul doesn't have anywhere near the footy brain or experience of Walker

that is very true about walker being a better football brain but there is a player at rockbank that could be alot more important then both of them and that is christian innella he has proved himself in other leagues as a brilliant player and is only just beginning to show himself in the rdfl.

Is it true that the league will only be printing records every four weeks, frustrating when ur trying to spot new players at clubs

No. The record will be a round by round item, same as last year but the league will limit the print run on each round to keep costs down. Every 4 weeks wouldnt have been good. Maybe they need to put more club news in it to boost readers interest?????

nicholls would be red carded for life no doubt as he did a very bad thing and called some one who use to play with the kangaroos a westpac banker!
given that one of the bosses on here is one of the most bias people on bigfooty, and being such a bias person he would make sure that nicholls and his children in yrs to come would be banned from ever using this site again.
what rumours are you hearing on here kingy ?
i have a few i could share with you , and these arent rumours there facts !
all involving people in high places !
p.s netball girls it sad that you cant have your own opinion on things
pps kingy the sunbury boys have been told to stay off big footy direct orders from their coach, shame as some provided the thread with some good stuff.

kings army - that's why you should go and follow and Sunbury..Dag from serge and stay away...!!!

Thanks for the advice but aren't you the one that followed him to QLD on the weekend. How about you add you add something to this thread? What about something about how Riddell are shaping up? With James gone will Meacham be able to cope with the number 1 back man for the 1st time?

I would never follow him any where. When was the last time you watch Riddell play, that wasn't a final? How about you turn up to the game on the Saturday and tell us.

Got to a few H&A last year. Missed the best one with the fence jumping incident. South V Sunbury for me this week but looking forward to a run down of your game from you next week.

I watched fleming in the higher comp and is ok but does not like physical pressure he might look good when no pressure is put on him early days but cuffe on the other hand is good handles pressure and doesnt mind physical stuff all good in rdfl great to see great players in this league

Must have watched the first year and a half when at Sunbury he was trying to lock down the CHF possy. When he went to CHB he was a totally different player who was never was a hard man, but never pulled out of a contest and on multiple occasions went back with the flight of the ball to spoil the footy. Even though he kicked 6 on the weekend, I still believe that the cats will get the most out of him from CHB where he made the BFL team of the year.

Another way for them to keep the costs down is to put in PDF format via the RDFL homepage, that way clubs can download and print it off themselves and for those that can't get to the games can at least read the news via the web?

I think you will find that it is the team lists that are limited to changes every 4 weeks, which is a pain but ....

My understanding is that team lists will have been updated this week.

:):)

I thought his best position was CHB as well. He was named at CHF in the team of the year last year.

Congratulations to the 2 sunbury boys being selected in the 09 under 18 Interleague squad, Matt Leonard and tie cuffe will play against some old team mates in the BFL side next week at melton.

Tips for this weekend

Sunbury and Macedon should be a very good game of football at Boardman reserve
I think Riddell will be too strong for woodend even in the mud at Gilbert Gordon, It will be interesting to see how the hawks come out after being told to bring mouth guards to training and expect the hard stuff, but in my opinion Riddell are just cruising and will raise the bar when it is needed.Riddell 36 points
Wallan and Diggers should also be a good game of football, with Diggers desperate to open their account, my tip not this week. wallan will need to make sure it is not too close in the last as Diggers have the fire power when it's needed. Wallan 3 points.
Rockbank host Kilmore, At home the Improving Rams will be looking at adding another win, While Kilmore would not be happy with the last 2 weeks and out to make up for it. A kick to make the difference Kilmore 6 points.
Centrals Vs Broadford, Broadfords running game will start to prevail as they settle into the league, 3 loses and disappointment will see them very eager to get a win, Centrals at home is always a harder task and after a win at Kilmore last week confidence will be up. another close game but I think Broadford will get the chocolates. 13 points
The biggest rivalry in the RDFL will see the under the radar Romsey come out to show they are being taken lightly, they have quietly recruited well in the off season and i believe are being under rated. Lancefield with their great start to the year will push them all the way, this could go either, i would like to say romsey at home, but i think we will see the tigers get up 17 points

Tips this week

Kangas just at home by 12 points Cuffe to keep going in great from.

Wallan by 24 over Diggers
Kilmore by 3 goals over rockbank
Melton centrals to beat broadford by 30 points

I know that Macedon ha been selected as the venue to host, with the new social rooms and outdoor netball court, it is sure to be one of the best venues. Central for the RDFL but a fair trip for those from the Southern league.

I believe the squads will be released on monday.
I think Shane Geddes name was mentioned as coach but i'm not 100%.

Squad of 34 on website, again I ask when was the final team announced ?

My apologies i didn't count the names, If you read my first post i said for making the 09 under 18 Interleague squad. One would assume that the Final Team would be done on monday night after training.

sorry for trying to get back to talking football
