Could not agree more it's a growing trend to BYO with excuses of "they don't sell this type here or it's too expensive to buy off the clubs" the usuall excuse. The more worrying thing its usually bottled drinks as well. A good idea would be at the next Presidents meeting for all to agree to stamp it out whether at home or away. Commitees should be responsible and make their members responsible for their behaviour at all games.

Overall have enjoyed all games watched this year with yesterdays at Boardman a cracker.

From what I can understand, any player found with bottled alcohol within an RDFL ground will be deregistered straight away. Was at Wallan yesterday and the police turned up and went straight upto the hill and spoke to a bunch of guys there.
Its hard to stop but maybe when clubs start to loss players the idea might sink in.

I would like to say you are right, but i have had conversations with some at HQ and it is not actually written into the rules. It is just advised that bottles not be present, hence the reason why some clubs are getting away with selling it. The biggest problem is not the fact they are drinking bottle but that they are drinking BYO, yes bottles do not have a place around sports fields.

well done sunbury to get home by such a close margin. A well fought game and expecting a fierce matchup the next time these two meet. Good to see Macedon proving they are not just a one man forward line army with fleming having a quiet day forcing other forwards to step up to the plate and snag a few.

Would also like to comment on the level of composure and consistency from the umpires from the day. They let the play go free and only picked the blatenly obvious which was a refreshing outcome on letting the better team win off their own boot...

I must say, I have had the opportunity recently to view the standard of Umpiring at a supposed superior neighbouring League & it is exactly the opposite there.
I can quite categorically state that the RDFL Umpires can hold their heads high. The quality of their decision making is right up there in regards to standard thats for sure. No Contest ! :thumbsu:

"What is going on at Kilmore? First week they come out and smash a team which everyone said they wouldn't get near, then the last 2 weeks have not been able to find that form again? I'm really glad to see the rams are very competitive this year and from all reports gave Riddell a run for there money by playing a very physical brand of football. I'm tipping the rams to go 2-2. Rockbank - 28 points" "Quote"

the question should be more like what is the go with rockbank, no intensity, second to the ball and plain flat. after a promising first 3 rounds to come up against kilmore with a good chance of winning they certainly let themselves down.
they were not prepared to put in the hard yards at any time of the game and kilmore capitilized on that opportunity and they done it well. very disappointing from the rams after matching it with lancefield, beating centrals and putting a good effort against riddell.
it just shows there is a long way to go maturity wise with these boys, hopefully they can improve on this weeks effort next week.

Are you suggesting there may not be as big a gap between the two leagues as some may say ?

Just would like to know what all the other players think besides me, of the current balls we use the burley, i think we need to start looking into using the ball that is of the highest quality the Sherrin, in my opinion the burley is B grade football it just dosn't come of the boot as well as a sherrin or penetrate as well as a sherrin, i think you would also see a lot more targets being hit and more goals than points. If you are a current player give us your opinion.cheers.

I would have to agree, but, they have improved remarkably in past few years.

dont forget the fact that kilmore is also an extremely young side, we played melton with 13 people under the age of 20 and another 3 under 21! the young fellas can play but will be ups n downs throughout the yr!

Its a work in progress bb, ask me again at seasons end when I should be better appraised.
I will say this though, I have seen some pretty ordinary sides so far, as I guess you have, or will also !

I also notice you have had a renewal of enthusiasm of late.
Kinda reminds me of that old adage - " Oh Ye of Little Faith" ! ;)

More then happy to eat humble pie and good to hear that the blues have got back on track. Still I think that if you go over my tips over the last couple of weeks you will be happy if I tip against your side. S-T-RUGGLING!

This week could have a big impact on the season as a whole. If results fall right there will be a gap of 2 games and substantial percentage between 4th and 5th. It's only early in a long season, but would make it difficult for teams to break into the top 4. How do people see the top 6 panning out at this early stage?

Top Four wont change, only the order perhaps.

Thought the Kilmore boys were staying off the forum Van??;) But u make a good point and the Kilmore boys need to find some consistancy like we did against the Rams to continue to be competitive for the rest of the year.

Ask the punters at Wallan at the weekend about two goal umpiring decisions, the worst i have witnessed in my time!

Amen to that!!
Both of the supposed 'goals' were clearly points.
One was punched from about 25 metres out and bounced through the goals meaning the goal was kicked from about 80-85 metres out ha!
and the other missed the big sticks by about 3-4 metres

I know it is a game of minimal interest to most of you but it would be greatly appreciated if we can get some help across the RDFL by spreading the word about this weekends Broadford v Kilmore clash to ensure we still get a few along.

Got a call at lunchtime to say the game is now to be played this SATURDAY, and not Sunday as had been promoted within both camps over the past 4-5 weeks.
Should still be a great day as after all these years Broadford actually gets to compete in a "local" type derby.

What is the go with Sunday games? The last, i don't know how many years Romsey and Lancefeild have played on a sunday, yet last round was a saturday. I know that with both clubs separating the juniors would probably be part of the reason, surely the league could have made the fixture possible for these clubs to continue the sunday rival game. or was it the wishes of both committees to not play the sunday.

Kilmore and Broadford were scheduled for a sunday game and now to play on saturday, is there any particular reasons for the swaps.

You are right in the case of Lancefield v Romsey it is due to the junior sides separating, therefore making the grounds unavailable on a Sunday.
