The Redbacks must be missing Mark Strack so much they're looking at every avenue to replace his shining red hair.

Mick McCarthy is still lingering in the seniors, comedian Tom Gleeson was recently named their number one ticket holder and now Moorcroft.

Bulldog, you better come back mate, your old club needs you badly!
Why dont they approach Wayne Schwass, he just moved to romsey. And Tom Gleeson no.1 ticket holder. I mean for f#$k sake, whats the point

Whats happened to Lancefields Tom Waters ? I havent seen his name in the best players this year.

Is he suffering a Bowen hangover or injured ?

Tommy's going well, certainly no hangover. He's simply playing in a stronger side this year, and the load is being shared around.

would be a huge recruit if romsey could get morcroft, would b suprised if he left silvan though

this will be very interesting, look what happened the last time when a high profile player came to the league ,aaron james.
he was baited week in week out by morons full of batman juice until he reached boiling point.
the same will happen with moorcroft.
wouldnt have thought he would be bargin purchase either, he would have to come with a very hefty price tag.

Agree. You wont find many - if any (recent) ex AFL players playing for less than a $1000 a game.

But its good news for Romsey anyway

Think of which clubs supporters were the worst??

Come to think of it - if a bloke has played league footy within the last 4 or 5 years - you would be no chance whatsoever of getting him for under a grand a game.

If he has played within the last 2 years your looking at closer to (and sometimes more than) $1500 a game and more than likely a decent sign on (maybe $5000).

I remember reading somewhere Moorcroft was on big coin at Silvan, but surely his price would be dropped by 30% simply because he is a ranga.

That's how Sunbury got Climas from Riddell so cheap.

But once they realised that stat dad game with the package they weren't so happy with the deal.

He would have to be on huge money, he has kicked 100 goals a couple years, silvan havent been short on cash with a few ex bomber boys down there

signed sealed and delivered as of last night.. his old team failed to deliver on some promises made in the pre-season (ie Employment etc).

Good signing for Romsey but how long will he be there for sounds like the bloke will take money and wait until next good offer comes up.They should be looking after locals who have been at club for a long time and offer them some form of incentive, who knows they might lift pretty dissapointing that they would do that and waste money on 1 bloke, they used to be a fairly consistent team 1 footballer is not going to make them perform

he will not make much of a difference to romsey. they are lacking in too many areas. put the cash away for next year although i dont think he will be playing for as much as what people will start guessing on here. im guessing he's connected to kearney through people from the northern suburbs of melbourne somehow. like someone said earlier. a job might have something to do with it.

Righto, Round 6 is upon us and as per the previous 5 rounds there is some interesting matches.

Romsey travel to Gilbert Gordon to take on Woodend, from all reports with a new recruit or 2, although I can't see any clearances on the website. Judging by their past couple it will take more than Gary Moorcroft to turn their fortunes, and with Woodend starting to hit their straps I expect them to win comfortably, 36 pts.

Wallan play host to ladder leaders Riddell this week. Riddell appeared to step up a notch last week, whilst Wallan on the other hand have been decimated by injury and are struggling at present. Expect the Bombers to roll on with another solid victory, 65 pts.

Interesting match up the next one, Broadford travelling to Rockbank after finally breaking their RDFL duck last week. Rockbank appear to be struggling to keep up the intensity of the first few rounds, but we have seen that they can be competetive. Broadford found their feet in style last week and will be keen to back that up. Could go either way but I'll stick with Broady by 12 pts.

An inconsistent Kilmore outfit host Macedon at JJ Clancy. Macedon are rolling along nicely, a fit Darren Goodwin showing his true value to the Cats, and I note that Brendon O'Flaherty has joined from Kyneton and should be another handy inclusion. Kilmore when they are on could take it up to the Cats at home, if they're not they'll simply get smashed. My tip is Macedon by 37 pts.

Diggers Rest turned their form around with a surprise win against the previously unbeaten Sunbury Roos last week. Now they travel to Maccy park to take on Melton Centrals, who were no match for Macedon at Macedon last week, but there previous couple were good. The difference between the best and worst for both sides appears to be wide, and this game as a result should be a cracker. The Burra's are on the board now, and I'll tip them to consolidate, by 7 pts.

Lancefield to beat Sunbury Kangaroos.

Good luck to all:thumbsu:

I agree with Joeblow2. Even if Romsey are able to get a clearance through I can't see them beating Woodend, it would be very tough to get up from 2 beltings in a row. The Woodsmen were too good last week and I can't see Romsey putting up much resistance. Woodend - 60 points.

I said it last week and I will say again. It is going to be a long day for the Magpie supporters. Riddell - 88 points

This is one of the more interesting games of the round and it is credit to the league and how even it is. Both teams have only won, one game. Yet whoever wins this game will stay only one game outside the 6. Rockbank seem to have gone back to old habits and the roos found some form last week. This is a coin toss but winning form is good form. Broadford - 25 points.

The blues disappointed once again and the cats found there feet. Good to see that "The Big Rig" got straight off the plane and into the interleague squad. The blues are way to inconsistant with a young team and the cats have not had a bad game this year. Cats in a canter. Macedon - 75 points.

Diggers sent out a big message last week....write us off at your own peril. The burra are back and have there season back on track, how far it will go remains to be seen. What we do know is that they beat the top team last week and centrals copped a rampent cats. Go over the results in these games over the last couple of years and the centrals have the wood on the burra and they are always tight. Diggers - 4 points (Also well done to Sean Sims on being named interleague captain)

Finally the main event for the round. 2nd vs 4th. I said last week that good teams don't lose two in a row and this will test the roos at the beginning of what will be a season defining few weeks. The Tigers have been very impressive, but it is fair to say that the oppostion have not been top contenders for the flag this year. Still you can only do what you can against the opponent put against you. Should be a cracking game. Lancefield - 28 points

Good luck all.

Sounds like a few people on this forum are jealous of other clubs going out recruiting quality players, Romsey have opened the doors to all locals and who ever wants a game, they have been hit hard by injuries and have out gunned some teams from other leagues to get Garry to the club, Garry will dominate in this league and lift the confidence of the players around him, he may even attract locals & others to the club? What ever Romsey are paying, is their business & nobody Else's. Good on them for pulling off the coue of the year. Now if Romsey beats your team then your committee will have to work on recruiting just as Romsey has and if your team is successful in doing so, then the RDFL is better off, and so will your team!

One player doesn't win you a flag though slyone!
Agree its a big signing for them and good on them for going out and securing such a talented plyer. Just makes the comp even better.:thumbsu:

I wouldnt say that people are jealous of Romsey getting moorcroft its great to see good footballers come to this league i wouldnt say that you out gunned other clubs for his services i would say he out gunned Romsey and named his price rumour has it $3000 sign on and $1200 a game if this is true who has out gunned who and if you take the so called $1200 a game that rumour says he is getting surely a club can get 4 quality players for $300 a game good luck and cant wait to see him in action

It's not just about one player, it's what he will do for the club as a whole, he will attract other players to the club as well as attracting allot of interest at the club, more people through the gate which will benefit the club financially. I know romsey have performed below expectations but there not far off the mark & when their at full strength with Garry in the side, they will be very competitive. This guy is still a chance of kicking the ton this year, other players will play better because of him, Marbo offered more money but maybe someone from the club has secured employment for him, whatever brought him to romsey will benefit the club immensely.
